So...thoughts? Feelings?
I'm bummed it's only on HBOMAX--but supposedly there will be Bluray/DVD releases as well.

I, like many people, am pretty much over Snyder. Sure, I really liked Watchmen, but what has he done since then that is worth talking about?
Was the much talked about Batman vs Superman Snyder cut ever released? Did it make a difference to how bad that film was?
I personally thought Justice League was OK. I'm not going to rush to watch it again, even if there's a supposedly better version out there. I'm not sure it needs a rerelease though.

Well, the main cut was crap. And Snyder’s only decent film was the Dawn of the Dead remake.
Can’t say I’m awfully excited.

Oh my GOD! I'm watching this just to see how much worse it is. I don't think there's much room for it to be worse but if anyone can find a way it's definitely Snyder.

Well, at least Darkseid will show up - I think?
And they're going to actually spend quite a bit to finish up scenes, add dialogue, etc.
Of course, it will end on a cliffhanger that will never be resolved but it will be interesting to see it 'completed'.

I'm interested to see it. I think it will likely be better than what we got but not good by any means. More of a curiosity at this point, kind of like Duke Nukem Forever.

FWIW I didn't ever watch it in the cinema, my first (and only)exposure to the movie was the Extended (Director's, Snyder, whatever) on home media, and on that basis I felt the extreme criticism it had received was unwarranted.
By comparison I almost gave up watching Justice League, and found the whole movie felt disjointed and unfinished, so I'm fairly sure it isn't exclusively a question of my taste.
So, yes, probably.

I'd say it's a genius move, regardless. I've no idea how they managed to actually make it happen (from a legal standpoint).
The Justice League was a fething horrendous film, but I don't give a gak about the Justice League themselves so I won't bother watching a "slightly less gak" version of an already gak film.

Justice League is clearly a case of someone being given 4 screws and a hammer to make a sandwich.
My favorite part of the whole film is homeless man holding the "I tried" sign when Joss Whedon's name scrolls by.

From what I've seen, this could materially alter the fabric of the film beyond a Special Edition Star Wars type affair.
I've seen speculation that even the score could be replaced, alongside a variety of rumoured new characters, different scenes etc.
It could literally be a different film in all but name, rather than just a slightly less gak version of what we'd already been shown.

Well, I’ve polished up the crap-o-meter, and will be fitting a new dial.
As you can see, the release version of Justice League hit the ‘10’ rating so hard, it actually bent the needle. So I’ve got a new gauge which goes all the way to 15. Just in case.

Given their offerings so far, my skepticism has been more than earned.
Yes they’ve shown degrees of improvement, but for me, it’s not so much they’ve got better, so much as each subsequent one has replace the previous as the Least Worst offering.

I think Shazam is genuinely great, though Aquaman was definitely the best bad movie I've seen in a while.

Haven’t seen Shazam to be honest. Kinda forgot it existed!
Birds of Prey was......a waste. Decent moments in it, but it just didn’t quite come together as a cohesive whole for me.

Aquaman is the modern Hellboy, an at best b movie held together by a lead having a whale of a time

Aquaman was complete garbage. I made it 40 minutes in and had to turn it off. The only genuinely decent film DC has put out is Wonder Woman, and '84 looks like such a fun movie too. It was probably the film I was most looking forward to seeing this year.

Unless it inserts a completely different villain, I can't see it being any more interesting, frankly.
All of the early reports before Snyder left the project were that it was a very dark film, hence Joss's task of lightening everything up. I've always been rather puzzled at the continued calls for it to be released after all of the complaints after the preceding movies about them being too dark...

I like dark, so wouldn't have an issue with that.
But as to the villain, without being too spoilery for those who get panty bunched about them, it could be a very different arc, if not a different persona.

I can't help but think of Jericho - you guys remember that show? If not, it stars Skeet Ulrich (no, really) and was a bizarrely intriguing story about the effects of multiple mysterious nuclear detonations in the US, and how a small town copes with it.
It got cancelled after only one season (on a cliffhanger) and the viewership went nuts (in some cases, literally). The were the squeakiest wheel imaginable until finally the network relented. They made a second season, after all.
And that second season? Awful. It was so bad that all the fans were like "yeah, ok" when it got cancelled a second time.
I feel like this is going to be like this. I mean, I'm still gonna watch it, obviously - but I feel like there are a lot of fundamental problems with the movie no amount of window dressing is going to fix.

Oh, it can definitely be worse. The existing movie with all of the more light-hearted moments stripped out in order to be all dark and gritty would be worse. More Superman, particularly more moody and grimdark Superman, would be worse. Over four hours of either of those things would be infinitely worse.
