Missile Launchers are definitely the fiddliest bit I’ve encountered thus far.

To their credit, was lined up properly you know they’re lined up properly. But getting them to that position is the challenge because they’re just so dinky.

And just to my left? I’ve four new boxes of Infantry, and so a bunch more of them to do.\

It will be worth it, but still mild dread.

Also? Just as an aside? Is there any sight quite as glorious as a fully painted to any standard Epic Army? Tooting my own horn but only slightly, but looking at mine when it’s all on parade in the cabinet, I get End Game Big Punch Up Vibes.

Woke up to 3 of the launchers falling apart. Bad glue join probably? ...just...ahhhhhhh!

I'm supposedly assembling loyalists, but I am ready to sign a very, very dark pact with whatever chaos god will have me to get the MLs to the finish line.

One more box of Drop Pods and a box of Land Raiders to go.

Building of the great gargant is complete. Next up basing and painting...

I’ve done three Landraider Proteuses.

Decided to once again break out the Pintel mounted Heavy Bolters. As these are a forward unit, and so at risk of being swamped by even Tiddly Troops in HTH, the Defensive Fire just makes sense. Especially if I’m not quite ready to disgorge the passengers. But even if I am? A bit of extra Dakka rarely goes amiss.

@Gitdakka...some of those parts I feel like I should know what kit they're from but I'm drawing a blank. (Or are they prints?)

My own slow but also slow progress: a buncha foot-sloggin loyalist marines (please forgive the shallow focus...and the led lighting...and the cardboard tray background...and complete lack of framing...and disgusting lack of photo composition)

Vanguard posted yesterday that their sales had declined slowly, down 75% in a year or so.

Coincidentally with the LI release. He blames LI and everybody moving to 8mm scale.

No mention to Brexit nor 3D printing. IMO those too should be very influencial too.

What do you think?

Not familiar with Vanguard.

Don’t mean to sound dismissive, as losing sales isn’t nice. But it does sound like it’s just market forces at play. Not sure there’s much to say beyond that.

The bits are from city crushers (vanguard minis webshop) and the GW industrial sector kit for Titanicus/LI, then some random assortments of bits like a dreadnought kit, plastic tubes, a cup, a bottle cap, paper.

No wonder vanguard sales is going down, they never refresh their web-shop. Marine tanks have been out of quantity for over half a year. I'm eagerly waiting to buy some las predators. I've sent a mail asking what is the issue.

Went to WHW at the weekend, got a game of LI in on the nice table! Got most of my Blood Angels completed beforehand, so they took on my cousins Solar Auxilia. 2200 points plus a Warlord each.



It was good fun, I definitely had the airpower advantage (helped by pretty ruthless focussing down his aircraft in the first/second turns!). Much as I like the Fire Raptors, I've found the Xiphons much better in both the AA and AT role - though I used the autocannon side guns and definitely think the lascannons would be more useful. Maybe partly an expectation problem, as I see the Fire Raptor as the Astartes equivalent of the A-10 Warthog, I don't think the avenger bolt cannon quite lives up that comparison!

Titans largely ignored each other in favour of vaporising tanks, the Warlord apocalypse missiles were definitely the best counter I had to the auxilia basilisks which had the potential to be a real problem otherwise I think.

Favourite moment was probably my terminators charging a Leman Russ unit, getting counter-charged by Ogryns who then were counter-counter-charged by my assault squad jumping from the Thunderhawk! Took heavy losses but wiped out the ogryns and was able to Encarmine Fury into more Russes which was pretty nice.


Also took a few pictures of the two LI dioramas at WHW if that's of interest. Was particularly taken with the Magma City one, kind of wish I'd seen it before building my manufactorum kits as there are some real cool uses of the bits from it there, mixed in with some other parts (I assume some scratch built / 3d printed parts?).

For me, I've been plowing forward on tanks and transports...predators, land raiders and rhinos. Realizing that peak outdoor priming days are slipping away as winter nears, I've been madly assembling fast attack stuffs (land speeders, bikes) and aeronautica elements for priming.

I've also made substantial progress on some traitor marines, who look good in red and brass.

A few minor disasters along the way? Of course! That's part of the hobby for me. A devastator's missile launcher went and launched itself into a forest of carpet. After a long search through the dense woods, I was forced to give up and did a quick two-part milliput mold. Same happened to a multi-melta for a land speeder. That one was easy to refabricate, more or less. I'm still waiting on the missile launcher, while the mold cures. It may turn out a little blobby, but at this scale, hopefully the miniscule size will make it passable.

Imma big boii! I finally got assembled my 6mm scale Imperator titan, and it's a big one, tallest miniature in my collection, 26cm high. I'm not yet sure about paint scheme, either Legio Krytos for 30k, or something generic for 40k.
Small 6mm Imperial Fists are for comparison.

That's a 3D print, right? It looks bigger than the original plastic imperators.

Yes, I've had it printed by commission, most of the parts are solid resin for stability, and the price of the model seemed reasonable compared to gw prices nowadays.

The stl file was open priced, starting from 1€. And the printed model costs 70€ by a local Finnish print studio.

Working on my new necron army

I just had my first game of Epic 40k, against my partner. Mostly a trial game with no real objectives, just mashing together a Mechanicus army with a Titan against a mechanized Emperor's Children force.

The highlight of the game was a column of rhinos being ambushed and surrounded by a maniple of Kastelan Robots and the Titan.



Fulgrim was also around.



I really liked how the various assaults and firefights flowed back and forth, with repeated retreats and rallies over multiple turns, before finally being decided. (Except for the ambush, which was a near-total wipeout.)

Looks like a great game sigkill! Out of interest, how do you rate those GF9 Mundus roads/highways? Worth it?

They feel very solid and they look good. I'm not quite sure what they're made of - my best guess is linoleum, as they are slightly bendy, but very tough. The main downside of them is that they only have 90 degree turns, and their ends will never line up perfectly with anything else, as they are slightly staggered (which on the other hand means they lock well together).

Think my inaugural hobby room session will be building that second box of Drop Pods.

I figure a slightly fiddly job will let me check my setup is satisfactory.
