Tom Holland Reveals ‘Spider-Man 4’ Title Is ‘Brand New Day’ - The Hollywood Reporter
Tom Holland‘s Spider-Man 4 is untitled no longer.
The star appeared in a video clip to announce that the film is titled Spider-Man: Brand New Day, set to hit theaters July 31, 2026. Filmmaker Destin Daniel Cretton also took the stage at CinemaCon on Monday, where he copped to having just lost $200 at the roulette table in Las Vegas.
“To say that it’s an honor to be standing on this stage is a pretty big understatement,” Cretton said. He explained that he was a lifelong fan of the character and has been drawn to Peter Parker’s “humor” and “messy humanity.”
Holland appeared in a video segment and gave a “massive thank you for all of your support.” He added, “Spider-Man: Brand New Day is a fresh start.”
Cretton called the movie “a ride that we haven’t really seen before.”
The title is a reference to a 2008 storyline that takes place after a universe-altering event in which everyone forgot who Spider-Man was. (The controversial storyline also ended the marriage of Peter Parker and Mary-Jane). It’s a fitting title, given that Spider-Man: No Way Home ended with the world forgetting who Spider-Man and Peter Parker were.

Not sure if branding it after the terrible reboot that basically started Marvel's obsession with keeping Peter perpetually stuck as a suffering bachelor is a great idea.
More curious who the supporting cast is going to be now that they've basically wiped out MJ, Ned, Happy and Aunt May from the table. Wouldn't surprise me if they introduce Harry as his roommate on campus or they go with Betty Brant/Felicia Hardy as the new love interest.

Well, the prior film was a significantly better version of One More Day, so.... sure?
I wouldn't call it the start of that obsession though. Joe Quesada had been trying to break them up since the mid 90's.

Zendaya has been confirmed for the film.

They regularly just use titles they like. Age of Ultron has nothing to do with the comic story of the same name.
The comic is a time travel story where wolverine is sent to the past to kill Hank Pym to prevent a future in which Ultron rules Days of Future Past style.

Notably, Daredevil: Born Again was adapted into season 3 of the Netflix run, as opposed to the recent Daredevil: Born Again Again series on D+

So, I am watching DD: Born Again and I am a bit disappointed that they have a "Monster of the Week" vibe going. It makes the experience feel a bit disjointed.
However, there is no doubt in my mind that DD, Fisk, and Vanessa are some of the most compelling Marvel characters they have. The Fisk's are by far the best Marvel villains.

Right. Next time someone says “it’s Disney now so it’ll be soft”? I’m just going to point them to this.

It's still alot softer than Netflix.
It's also pretty absurd that Castle isn't simply killed.

The Daredevil finale was great. And it proves that...
Not that we needed proof. We knew that already.
I'm saying this as someone who has spent the last several weeks catching up on the old shows, but the Born Again finale is most assuredly not softer. Maybe that's fading memory or nostalgia on your part, but this episode was right up there with the old stuff in that regard.

So, overall I enjoyed Born Again... But I remain disappointed that it was another season of him not being Daredevil. Would have been nice if we had another couple of episodes for DD to cut loose, rather than stopping just as things are getting started.

We'll just have to disagree.

I brought it up because I really don't see how you'd arrive at your opinion via a direct comparison. You are free to believe whatever you want, of course. But I'm not seeing it. Yeah, agree to disagree.
I think MDG has a point. Whether it's mandate from on high or self-censoring that usually leads to the examples of Disneyfication we have, Daredevil suggests that if a creator pushes for something outside of Disney's main fare, they may actually get it. I'm sure there's still studio politics and stuff involved and you need some clout to get what you want, but it's not as simple as saying it's Disney so it's got to be cuddly and fluffy. Evidence suggests things are more nuanced.
Which makes Book of Boba even more infuriating, but what are you going to do?

Book of Boba Fett is Star Wars though, which has never been especially graphic.
Yes we’ve seen Ponda Baba lose an arm, and blood. Yes we see that poor Gammorean become dindins. Yes we see Anakin nuggetted by Kenobi. And of course dozens and dozens of on-screen shootings and presumably deaths.
And we see the same in Book of Boba Fett. Pike syndicate bumped off by the bushel. One of them become Rancor Fodder. Stabbings, shootings, people blown up.
But it’s all….kinda cartoony in its way. Not much in the way of blood or injury detail at all.
The MCU is broadly the same. De-limbings, decapitations, people reduced to wee squelchy things (Ant-Man) and so many explosions and blatant deaths. But still, cartoony, lacking any lingering on the pain or detail.
This finale though? Yikes, and some impressive prosthetics to boot!

I found the finale somewhat flat/dull. Also couldn't quite work out the logic of the punisher warehouse fight. Why do it, even if you wanted to be captured, that was a very unwise way, etc.

I wasn't exclusively thinking blood and guts. Frank is allowed to stay on the darker side of vigilantism. No mercy. No due process. Which keeps his theme intact.
Boba becomes a crime lord in his show. Sure, he wants to do things differently than the Hutts, but at the end of the day he still runs a criminal enterprise with all it entails. They could have made him toe the line between moral aspirations and the reality of life as a crime boss. But they didn't and tried to make him a virtuous figure who pretends to be a crime lord only when there's no harm in it.
Frank wouldn't have survived a similar approach and I'm super glad they didn't try. It would have been nice to let Boba do the same, so that when we get a show about the criminal underworld, we actually get what we're promised.

My take on Boba is, having had time and reason to reflect on his life and how he’s basically been a tool used for the benefit of others, he wants to be the Benevolent Dictator.
Even during The Empire, the Hutts still ultimately controlled Tatooine and the general locale. And that’s pretty much all the locals have known.
So, why shouldn’t that model be adhered to, without an especially nasty bit of work at the top of the pile.

That works only as long as everyone plays along. I'd argue a defining characteristic of criminals is that they don't follow the rules of others so well*. So even though Boba may have the best of intentions as far as that goes, and take the hapless citizens of Mos Espa out of the equation, you wouldn't expect the competition to just leave him alone out of the kindness of their hearts. With that comes conflict, and with that conflict his ability to stick to his convictions is challenged.
Would have been good to see that. You know, ask some questions, get some character development and all that. Have dramatic conflict around the characters choices.
* Ask Matt Murdock how trusting in the established order works out when dealing with big shot criminals.
The_Real_Chris wrote:I found the finale somewhat flat/dull. Also couldn't quite work out the logic of the punisher warehouse fight. Why do it, even if you wanted to be captured, that was a very unwise way, etc.
In his own show he made a few spectacularly poor choices by going with a head on approach and getting wounded more than absolutely necessary in the process. My guess is he's supposed to be defined by a lingering death wish for him to act recklessly at times.
I see his renewed appearance in Daredevil as a continuation of that.

Book of Boba is just a mess. Clearly a salvaged script stretched way beyond anything it could manage. It's pretty clear nothing about that production worked and its best ignored.

On Netflix Fisk crushed a mans head in a car door and we knew it happened because of obscured silhouettes a wet crunching sound and a blood splatter. There is nothing.... NOTHING.... In netflix that is as grusome as what Fisk did to that mans head in broad daylight with no tricks to hide the gory details.

I want to give it a binge for this exact reason.
I watched it Wednesday mornings whilst I worked, so it never had my full attention. But I agree with your summary. I’m wondering if a binge might aid the flow somewhat.
