3 days to go today (which is of course accurate), another with five days to go two pages ago - did I miss the one for yesterday, or didn't GW release a picture then?

This thread(thankfully) hasn't been getting spammed as hard as the other preview threads have since there's no 40k involvement.

They released a picture yesterday. It was just kinda blending with the 'set preview' title card in that it was what we've been calling the Wolf. I have all of them in the OP and Zamerion's been posting them as they show up(thanks for that! sometimes they slip through because facebook is awful).

This was yesterday's.

Ah, cool. Thank you.

And yes, I forgot that you keep an updated first post. Thanks for that, by the way.

I used to change the title every time a new preview was added, but it just started to look so sloppy in the thread proper.

Any guesses? Looks to be covered in feathers.

Vulture themed boss? Or Lizardmen hero?

Or Savage Orruk covered in flint speartips?

The old meta is dead and the new meta struggles to be born. Now is the time of munchkins.

It's 99% likely to be the Savage Orruk Shaman for Underworlds, as they said they would reveal the whole warband on Saturday.

Could be that Orruks are getting some extra love their way? The Rogue Idol is currently no longer available on FW so maybe an Orruk update coming soon?

Broken Realms: Settra!

That would be fun.

No, that would be ace!!!

Yeah, I’m thinking, between the necroquake and the Katophrane Curse going wild and connecting to random realms, Nagash’s hold on Death as a concept is subtly weakening even as his personal power grows. This would allow certain strong-willed dead people to break free of his control…
Assuming they don’t confirm that rumour where Settra is actually a Stormcast now…

I will die on the hill of Settra and my dusty bois coming back.

I collect:

Grand alliance death (whole alliance)

Stormcast eternals

Slaves to Darkness - currently Nurgle but may expand to undivided.

FW has been stripping AoS stuff like mad.
Last Christmas we lost a bunch of models (mostly lumped into destruction). This year we lost a bunch of chaos models (dwarves and the centaurs and the like).

At this rate I think the only things the will leave are the cross over chaos Demons because they are in HH and 40K and perhaps the Gloomspite models as those did get some marketing and might actually have sales figures. The rest they've been quietly dumping more and more of. All the fancy dragons and such are long gone sadly.

It’s the savage orruk underworlds warband, I wouldn’t expect anything more than that.

So it's pretty likely that for Underworlds and Quest we just see more pictures of things we already know are coming, but what about AoS proper? It should be a new announcement, right? New book, new models?

What are the chances of seeing more Gargant stuff? A character maybe?

Didn’t the kit have character versions of the three guys or no?

Either way, with the book (and faction) being so new.
They ain’t getting jack

The kit has three basic tol giants. The "named" versions are all mercenary-only, not available in the main SoB list if I recall.

If megagargants get any new stuff/unique heroes, it'll probably be an upgrade sprue boxed in with the current kit. It worked well for the imperial knights, and gargants all have the same basic build, with just different heads, belly coverings, and weapons, which is super easy to add additional sprues for

Rogue idol is still around, it's just out of stock in some places.

edit: Oh hey weird, it does say "no longer available" in the places it is out of stock, which is everywhere except the US. Looks like it may be going the way of the dodo.

Well maybe if we bother GW enough with Ork war drums we may get the Rogue Idol as new model when ever new Orruk book is released.

And here I just wonder what kind of big center piece model we get for Gravelords.

/shrug. The kit and battletome have only been out for about 4 months. Check back in a more reasonable time frame, say, 2024/2025 or so.

Given it's set up to accept a new sprue of options I could see them getting a reboxed kit akin to the Imperial Knight Warden/Canis Rex sooner than later.

Really? It felt more ‘forget and fire’ to me – like they were already ignoring the whole concept even before it go to stores…

Also priced at a high premium so not many people were rushing to buy the kits. I have yet to see anyone field them except for random people on AoS FB groups.

That's been my holdup. I love the concept, but the cost of entry is ridiculously high.

I think Son's is a slow-grow army made worse in that whoever set the prices set them very high.

It's not an army GW expects people to rush out and buy en-mass like regular armies; instead its more one that GW expects players to go out and buy 1 gargant for their current army. Then if they collect a different army in a different Grand Alliance they go out and get another for that army. Suddenly they've 2 "named" versions (which are different) which can be regular versions in a Son's army. That just means adding a few aleguzzlers and the book and you've a "cheap" army.

So I see it as one that GW expects to grow slowly over the years and outside of the normal army growth.

The whole "fire and forget" I think is because of when it released; in the mess that was 2020. There were lots of oddities that year, heck Necrons and Marines waited 1-2 months for codex just to use the new models from Indomitus.

Are they expensive though?
To get a full sized army, isn’t it roughly the same price?
I’d imagine that’s what they base the prices on to some extent.
