On the Heresy front, I think one big selling point for it actually is that it's not constantly recycling/renewing rules and there is more of a stability. You're not buying an expensive book and having it made invalid a couple of years down the line.

Reading through a chunk of FB community posts, the overwhelming consensus is that 'rules are fine, thank you very much' and anyone that suggests HH 2.0 is going to be based off of 9th edition rules, rather than a tweak/update of the current ones, gets hit with a barrage of, shall I say, 'strongly worded' comments.

Instead, there is a very strong desire for a new plastic starter box along the lines of Calth or Prospero. I think most people realise that was instrumental in growing HH, as it allowed you to play without having to buy the expensive FW resin units (even though most people that play the setting find those desirable).

This all over. The rules definitely need cleaning up and I doubt there'll be much problem with a version 2, but keep the existing ruleset. If people want 9th rules, go play 9th edition! Stop trying to bend heresy to a way of playing that the playerbase doesn't like

On an Express Elevator to Hell!!

Think half the time people are making trolling comments in the (very enthusiastic) HH groups knowing it will trigger a firestorm. "I've heard the new rules are going to be like 9th edition lol", and then they just clear off from the thread while the artillery barrage of angry comments commencing (kind of the equivalent of dropping a stink-bomb and then just running off).

Not impossible, they did announce The Old World and WHFB population was lower than that of Kakapos at the End Times.

WHFB also didn't get the majority of their product line pulled after 6 months of abject failure to be relegated to Specialist Games and what was essentially mail order.

The admech codex in theory should have been out months ago, same with imperial knights. if you consider warzone charadron being released ahead of the 9th ed codexes that they supplement and of the armies included in that Deldar had JUST been released and admech and imperial knights havent quite been released. we're looking at approximately a 1-2 month codex release lag even before they announced the pre-order freeze.

There were already release rumours for the admech combat patrol of 30th of April from an Australian source which I think came just before the announcement of the pre-order freeze. So i wouldn't be surprised if they announced pre-orders for the admech codex next week some time.

Probably orks have no one on the design studio that likes them to write rules but surely GW loves giving them ton of cool miniatures.

There have been plenty of hysterical responses from both sides so far. So we descend into pointless bickering with neither side listening to each other. So posting here becomes more masturbation than conversation.

I think that the only issue with this is that it isn't in line with how GW seems to be direecting their business now. They seem to be moving into a "DLC" for tabletop games strategy with more and more books, cards, and add ons to armies. What you're saying is a selling point, is to the consumer's benefit, not to GW's.

One of the more recent rumours for heresy that's been floating around is that GW is moving away from black books and more towards something like what we see with how they handle necromunda. Smaller updates, each with a book. I think this allows them to pad their sales while limiting the actual number of model kits they are releasing.

If it is a Heresy boxed set, I’d be really happy for the included game to be a version of the FW skirmish or Zone Mortalis rules with enough models included you can actually play a game. I love the Horus Heresy plastics and lore, but have no desire to start a massive army game.

So what do we think the shadow is? A new Ork walker, a new warboss, new bigger orks, something else?

Or am I reading to much and its just Gaz?

I think that shadow is the actual model of the chariot we saw in the beast snaggas video. Almost a frontish profile, like facing the paper

The rumour leak highlighted that the pre-order was unorthodox in that it was actually supposed to be a Friday, as in today, but it's all up in the air now. It could be a week on sunday after warhammer fest is over I guess.

Spoiler:

Some interesting nuggets here in the White Dwarf. The timing is very interesting. We know the White Dwarf comes out in the middle of the month now, and here we have hints at...

Lauka Val, the Mother of Nightmares... and a very tall, very creepy looking vampire model going up against the Lumineth in the battle report. I'm thinking this is a new thing we'll see revealed in Warhammer Fest, likely alongside the rest of the Soulblight release. I'm going to bet they'll want to push the Soulblight out pretty quickly in May. Like they do with many AoS releases, I'd bet it'll all come out in one week.

That new model is very interesting. I can't for the life of me work out what's going on below the vampire's torso. Is it a mount? Or is the vampire a sort of half-humanoid half-varghulf centaurian kinda thing?

Some people are thinking it's a warped vampire with wings and legs below the waist, like a vampire-centaur. Others insist it's a vampire riding a mount, but the upper body looks too big. Still others say it's a conversion, pointing to the sword arm that looks identical to Sigvald's sword arm. There are also those that are pointing to some old rumors that point out a vampire-centaur thing, which seems oddly specific now that we're seeing this. In those rumors, they mention there being a separate 'Radukar the Beast' model, and that the Soulblight won't be getting Arkhan or any ghosts in the battletome, but will still be able to take Nagash.

Did the original AI come out at retail? Wasn't that pretty much a Forgeworld only thing? And if that's the case, their model is "Hey, we make these and they never really get discontinued so we'll simply make them to order until orders stop.", so I'd say it isn't comparable. Had they brought back Inquisitor or BFG I'd give you legs to stand on, but also it'd have to take into account that at least BFG had a steady shelf presence that WM did not. Still not comparable, and still doesn't dispute the abject failure of Warmaster.
