Avatar seems pretty fighty these days.
S14, -5 save, D6+2 damage with 7 attacks, if I damaged.
That’s….that’s a fair amount of potential damage, especially hitting on a 2+.
Could it be it’s actually scary again?

Is it able to split a tank in twain with that sword? I'd be happy just with that xD

With a maximum of….erm…..divide by three, carry the badger, square root of zero….ummm….weasel squared….
56….56 max damage in HTH? Yes. It will split a tank like REDACTED BY THE INQUSITION
Shooting isn’t brilliant, but with some jammy angles the beam effect might pay dividends?

More useful is average value. Average value of D6 is 3.5. So average value per hit is 5.5 Damage. 38.5 damage for 7 hits. Still very respectable and Knight killing. If you can get 7 wounding hits through any saves.

Still an average of 23.4 wounds against a Imperial Knight equivalent (T8 3+ target with 5++ against ranged attacks) assuming it get a shot and 7 swings in.

And even more useful is odds of doing X damage. That becomes the more important the more overkill there is and the more likely it is. It doesn't much good if weapon does average 100 damage to 2W model but there's still 16% chance of doing 0 damage

Hence why GW includes things like the sweeping attack with the Wailing Doom, to prevent these kinds of models from being so easily tarpitted by expendable chaff. That was what happened in an old Imperium vs. Eldar battle report from 2nd edition where the Avatar got held up by a sacrificial Guard squad. By the time it finally chopped its way through the last of them, the rest of the Eldar army had already been defeated.

Avatar looks... interesting. Something about the sculpting style seems a bit off to me but I can't point it out exactly. I reserve judgement until better pictures arrive.
Hopefully the kit will come with alternate heads and maybe even a spear option like the alternate FW Avatar had.

Unless I am mistaken, it was a Eversor Assassin that held up the Avatar while a Leman Russ and Hellhound defeated the Eldar ( WD 202). But I get your point.

There is no menace in its pose, like Mark Gibbon's famous artwork, or the FW Avatar.
Let's wait for the reveal, but the upside part looks pretty bland.

For the aeldari "official" reveals, we know we have:
*Shining Spears
*Warlock
*Avatar
*Maugna
*And possibly a corsair kill team.
Hopefully instead of dragging it out, they'll reveal the final models at the LVO at the end of the week

The Eversor was in the melee, until it got killed and exploded with effects like a plasma grenade (which the Avatar was immune to). To be honest given the ludicrously powerful rules at the time, I'm surprised the Avatar even managed to win. However afterwards, it was engaged by a Guard squad. It eventually chopped its way through only to then face a Leman Russ and Hellhound.
I wish the Avatar still had its immunity to melta, plasma, and flame weapons. However with the profusion of weapons, I guess it might have led to arguments about what constituted those weapon types. For example, technically according to the background explanation, Tau pulse weapons are plasma weapons. Such a rule would also have been a hard counter to SoB heavy weapons, forcing SoB players to pick bolter type weapons. The problem also would be players would know of the immunity and avoid equipping with those weapons, whereas from an in-universe POV few would know of the immunities and would fire their weapons only to be horrified at the lack of effect.

Yeah that Eversor was a beast. 240pts iirc, at a time when pussies like Ragnar Blackmane, Marneus Calgar and Dante were in the region of 150pts.

Warlocks look pretty decent, and I'm glad that there are two different poses. Though I'd prefer the helmet style where the the forehead is not part of the same are than the chin, so it can more feasibly be painted to be the same colour than the faceplate.

Solid looking kit!
Tiny bit of a shame that there weren't a few more varied parts to really make them distinct in larger groups, but overall a very solid kit.
My only real crit is more of the steady change from gen1 warlocks to the modern. I still prefer the oldold look of way more outlandish helms that were very different to the regular infantry.
Although now I went looking for it, its actually a farseer not a warlock; but my point still stands ^

I’m a bit dissapointed tbh. I mean it’s better than the one model with no options that I feared, but not by much. And the robes don’t look great, especially on the bareheaded ones. And I don’t like the helmets as much as previous Warlock helmet designs, they just look like guardian helmets really, they’ve lost some of the weirdness.

Kind of disappointed by the poses myself. There's... two. For a model you might have half-a-dozen of (or more). With exactly one of each weapon.
WarCom wrote:The kit also contains one witchblade and one singing spear, allowing you to assemble a veritable Seer Council of distinct models.
Er... no. This doesn't make a distinct Seer Council, this makes pairs of clone characters.
Honestly, after the Autarch, this feels like a let down. They could have, at very bare minimum, at least done 2 of the exactly two weapons warlocks can carry (other than pistols).
