Yeah I know... the Dragons Breath remains one of those "Why?" weapon options, a bit like the Reaper Shuriken Cannon. And the Firepike certainly looks cooler (or... hotter... I suppose... ).

I guess I have a soft spot for odd weapons.

Imo it would have made more sense of they had provided alternative weapons for the whole squad. If they could all take flamers it would make sense.

It's obviously considered a ritual weaponv or the living embodiment of the aspect (ie the exarch) wouldn't consider picking it up.

Same for Shuriken cannons for reapers.

Yeah if the entire unit could take a Dragon's Breath flamer that would be excellent. Flamers are always good for Overwatch but it's very rare to see Fire Dragon's footslogging to warrant it.

That auto-wound will be quite nice for my guys, but the +2 DMG will be appealing when fighting large monsters and high wound vehicles.

Fusion Guns and Flamers are kind of the only "special weapons" that Eldar have. It's what Storm Guardians can get as well. It'd be nice if Fire Dragons could have one or the other.

I know that versatility isn't really point of Aspect Warriors, but if the Exarch's going to have a weapon that is completely different from the rest of the squad, why not let the squad swap as well?

Many years back you used to get Heavy Plasma Cannons on Vypers. The good old days. With the blast template. Fusion/Melta guns used to have a flame thrower option as well.

They probably should have given themselves some design space when making the plastic kits and allowed for weapon options. Fire dragons aren't the aspect of the fusion gun after all, they the aspect of the dragon, of fire and flame. As the exarch has the weapon its clearly not beyond the wit of the temples to utilize multiple weapons. The same applies to the other aspect temples. I would have loved a reaper unit equipped with shuriken cannons or banshees with triskeles or a unit of dire avengers equipped with direswords or duel wielding short ranged wrist mounted catapults.

After reading the warcom article about it, the trance thing doesn't sound quite as stupid as I figured. Given the "oriental-exotica" aesthetic of the Eldar, a meditative trance like state to provide absurd feats of shooting skill makes a modicum of sense.

At least, I figure that's what they were going for.
I don't think they needed to explain it but clearly enough people have whinged about it so they had to do something.

Frankly I couldn't give a flying rats fart about it. The models look pretty neato skeeto to me and that's all that matters.

Which you think wouldn't be necessary on something that moves so fast as to be a blur, but then why would the riders need cloaks, unless they had to stop to shoot, but then the bikes would need camo as well, but they don't need to stop because of 'battle trance' and I've gone cross-eyed...

My guess would be the fact that the Rangers on the bikes are not melded body and soul to the bike like some Tetsuo: The Iron Man monstrosity and can - theoretically - disembark their vehicle when not using or need to traverse somewhere on foot where their cloaks would be useful. That's not before we think that maybe the cloak are a part of their special military gear for their Path. Especially since they appear to be just like non-bike rangers, except on a bike. I mean, whenever I drive to work, my FLGS, or wherever, I do not wear special driving clothes or undress for the drive. I actually just wear the same thing I intended to wear outside the car. Sometimes I even wear a raincoat inside the car and it is raining outside the car, not inside it. I am a bonafide lunatic and you can't stop me.

The funny thing about that, though, is that the actual leaked rules make them so that they need to be less than 12'' away of the enemy to perform those "feats of shooting skills".

Next time maybe give them shotguns and be done with it.

Totally agree, a nice tongue in cheek video to say goodbye to the old Avatar. It was a stunning model when released, but time has passed it by. I cannot imagine how many people had that heavy metal top-ķnot fall off.

That video is pretty great. I like the hints of possible axe and spear weapon options in the article.

Also amazed at how good the old one still looks (the painted up example at the 1min mark) though obviously, a little short in stature these days

Shroudrunners would have been a lot cooler if they would drive up, have some elite close combat troops jump off and murder a few dudes then jump back on to the jetbike and move again. Something over the top. Drop off five banshees. Chop people up. Then flip back into the bike and fade away.

Or as everyone has said drive by fire dragons. Or drive by anything more effective than a sniper rifle which hardly does anything.

Haha yes, that was a good vid. Tbh I like most of their little parody vids, I'm actually kind of shocked that so far this one has been unanimously well received given the terminally morose nature of this board most days. That bit where he squares up to the Redemptor was the highlight for me.

It would be interesting to get a venom/starweaver for Craftworld units. But I’m happy with falcons to deliver small squads. But I’m a big fan of that tank, so YMMV.

Having read the article (but not watched the video) I have one very minor grumble - they missed one of the Epic-scale Avatars off, while showing every other version.

Very minor, but if you're going to show so many, you really should show them all...
