At least, I figure that's what they were going for.
I don't think they needed to explain it but clearly enough people have whinged about it so they had to do something.

Frankly I couldn't give a flying rats fart about it. The models look pretty neato skeeto to me and that's all that matters.

The funny thing about that, though, is that the actual leaked rules make them so that they need to be less than 12'' away of the enemy to perform those "feats of shooting skills".

Next time maybe give them shotguns and be done with it.

You may want to re-read those rules because I think you may have misinterpreted/not-even-read-them-properly

The ability you are referring to allows a unit of shroud runners to spot targets for other outcast units so they can ignore light cover. That's it. The ability to ignore look out sir, aka increased focus and poise to target specific models in the heat of battle, is still available to them at their full weapon range regardless. It's a perfectly reasonable tactical option to have one faster unit get closer and provide reconnaissance for slower units further away.

I was speaking about this leak

If this one is more accurate:

...then it's different. But still doesn't make much sense for them to have sniper rifles, and if they're also allowed to shoot from less than 12'' themselves when using it, well... give them shotguns

And if they are just supposed to be spotters for other units... give them shotguns.

EDIT: Using "shotguns" as shorthand for "stuff that you'd normally use to shoot from real close".

Also amazed at how good the old one still looks (the painted up example at the 1min mark) though obviously, a little short in stature these days

Depending on how big is the new one, I might be able to use the old one for 15mm games ^^.

I don’t know belakor, but if the new avatar is not at least twice the size of the old one, I’d be shocked. 2.5x-3x would not surprise me. There has been a LOT of scale creep in this guy’s lifetime.

That auto-wound will be quite nice for my guys, but the +2 DMG will be appealing when fighting large monsters and high wound vehicles.

Am I reading it wrong?

One is auto-wound for the whole unit and the other is +2D for just the Exarch?

Technicality she’s just got the mother of all 80’s hairdos, not a topknot.

Although she does set the high bar for hair-to-body ratios.

Lilith might qualify for a topknot though….

Its very blurry but it looks like your reading is correct. I wonder if that's an oversight by the rules writer since Auto-wound for the whole unit is way better than just +2 DMG for the Exarch.

From one leak, the dragons guns are S9 and RR wounds of 1 vs. monsters/vehicles. So the step from that to auto wounds is non-trivial, but not totally amazing. Although taking the die out of the equation would let you just vaporize transhuman targets or other things that monkey with the wound roll.

(Still probably going to be my go-to choice)

New Belakor isn't all that tall himself. He's big and imposing because of the large scenic base and massive wings, but the man (demon?) himself isn't all that tall surprisingly. Pretty sure the FW avatar is taller, but he's sleek so he don't have a big "presence".

Love the little video, but was sad to see him beside the two KoS, but not with the older, cow-like one who is more appropriate due to being the same generation

Fantasy armies - Retired (Tomb Kings, Vampires, Empire, Chaos Warriors/Daemons, Dark Elves)

Tyranids army - Ever evolving, but about 10k pts
Custodes - 3,500pts (Fully painted yay!)
Thousand Sons - 4,000 pts
Eldar - 3,000pts

Good points all around. Even if it is a 20pt vs 5pt difference I would probably pick the skip Wound step power every time.

Well that was a nice video. The differences in size between the second KoS and the third KoS is huge. And Calgar betting bigger over time. Ha!

I still think they need to do an 'Avatar Revenge Tour' article on WarCom, like the Gotrek vs Everything one they did a while back. Have the Avatar fight everyone who's ever defeated him, plus a few others.

[EDIT]: It does have alternate weapons!!! I may just be able to give my Daemon Prince a Wailing Doom after all!

IKR. I've always loved the helmeted head and was even building my own axe wielding FW model. But that bare head looks wicked. It reminds me of the DE mandrake heads actually.

I'm torn over which head. Maybe will have to magnet his head instead...
