I am surprised we didn't get any reveals what books are next for 40k and AoS.

It's weird we don't know, by all accounts you'd assume it's eldar > chaos knights > chaos marines for 40k, then idoneth & fyreslayers > DoK & Nighthaunt for sigmar, but they're wonderfully none committal.

This was definitely not very good. I'm even more surprised they burned the Avatar early now.

I assume things are going badly wrong behind the scenes again to only be showing off one model from the Kill Team box that was supposed to be out this week.

Or perhaps this is just the teaser and if the Killteam box is that close they will release the rest of the info soon? Don't forget its not like the old Kirby days where a reveal was all we got for months upon months. We could well see brand new things this Sunday let alone any day of the week from GW.

If you mean the early reveal on WHC, that'd be because of whichever... pillock decided that posting potato-cam pics was a good move, rather than waiting 24 hours for the official preview event. Once those lower-quality pics started circulating, getting good pics out there makes sense.

Now, whether it was some rando at LVO that got the pics during a rehearsal of the preview, or whether it was an attempt to do guerrilla marketing by GW, I'll leave that to you to decide...

Well I'm excited even if nobody else is. The avatar is brilliant, Maugan Ra is cool, shining spears look ace, i'm stoked for corsairs and even more excited for some vehicles in necromunda that I can cannibalize for GSC,

I'm tempted to try making the dark reapers look more like Maugan Ra when I can get my hands on a box.

I'm also thinking that with the Autarch spare parts that will be floating around from the two plastic kits and the new Shining Spears, you won't even have to use the old Autarch on Jetbike model either. Though I'd be surprised if GW don't remove/replace that model with this wave of updates.

That said it feels like we are coming to the end of the Eldar update and previews. I think rumours have hinted at one more Aspect getting updated? Even if not I think we've exhausted all the reliable rumours of models coming.

There really is no excuse you won't make for them, is there?

It was (yet another) underwhelming preview, filled with things that we've either already seen before, things we already knew about (even if we hadn't seen the entire mini), and "teasers" for things they aren't revealing right now.

It's not an excuse, its how reveals have been for a long while. The nature of a GW preview event has changed over the years. It's gone from a single event releasing huge amounts of stuff in isolation into a smaller number per event, but more through the year. And in the end we get what we get. Sure I'd like more, but I prefer reliable. I know that most of the models I'll see released in the next 3 months or so and that most of the hinted stuff (eg Necromunda) will be in the next 6 months or so. I'd rather that than seeing a years worth of releases. Heck I recall the old days of Spartan Games where previews and sneak peeks were sometimes closer to "IF" rather than when at times.

And yeah I accept that if I'm looking at rumour images, sneak peaks and interacting with GW media (direct and indirect) on a regular basis that a preview is going to have less totally fresh stuff.

Again its not an excuse, its how previews have been for a number of years. Even before Corona started messing things up the previews were often getting a little smaller and just spread out more between events

This style of drip feed marketing has developed because Social Media algorithms favour posting often rather than posting every now and then, resulting in quantity over quality.

I'm kind of used to it already. Kinda sucks to be constantly checking the sites but what can you do..

Yeah it's the usual vague disappointment despite some good stuff.

Eldar stuff all looks great, no complaints there other than 'is that it now?'. Corsair looks very cool.

Slightly different bloodthirster? Even as a Khorne enthusiast I have to say MEH.

AoS - another starter box with ghosts in it? Ho hum. Book ghost is pretty cool. Not sure crossbows really gel as a ghostly weapon to me. Miss Whiplash is alright but will look rubbish when her whip breaks off the first time you try to take her anywhere.

MadmaxHammer could be good fun, but need to see more than a cartoon.

Don't yet subscribe to warhammer telly, and that extra show isn't going to tip me over the edge.

So yeah, some nice stuff but ultimately 'huh, is that it?'...

Thats cute, the model also just looks like any other generic Blood Thirster lol.

I think this just reminds folks how much they would have enjoyed seeing cables and butchers nails winding from the back of that models skull...

Maugen Rah having that cloak kind of kills the new model for me.

GW digital design for these massive cloaks still looks really poor most of the time. It looks like plastic even after being painted. But even if that were not an issue for me, covering up the majority of his helmet and uniquely ornate armor is also frustrating.

He looks like the original primaris chaplains slightly edgier half brother.

It’s only 40k that’s been leaked, so that doesn’t excuse the previews for every other game being disappointing. Plus, knowing what’s coming and actually seeing it is very different.

Your going to actually believe these aren't conducted by GW themselves?

Imagine sending out playtest manuals for the rules only, but your such a numpty you format the file to completion, including fully developed and painted photos before you hit send... Either the playtesting isn't real, because there sending out "test" files that are clearly half way out the door, or these hilariously poor potato photos are intentional. It's not like GW haven't already embraced the potato cam meme...Oh wait.

Even when I expect nothing I am still disappointed.

40k - Aeldari reveal was cool, but the thing I was most excited about - Maugan Ra - is a letdown, 100% because of the hood. I am fine with the cloak, but the hood completely kills it, Maugan Ras helmet was one of the coolest parts of the original sculpt, and the chose to hide it under a hood. Never has a miniature resculpt come so close to achieving perfection only to be completely let down by a single artistic choice.

AoS - Battlebox is an unexpected boon (I'll take two!), but its not new Battletomes for the 2 oldest factions in the game. Nor is it battletomes for *any* faction. Going on 6+ months since the new edition launched and we still only have 3 new battletomes for the game. GW is moving dangerously close to the old WHFB army book schedule here with regards to the pacing of their rules updates (and White Dwarf patches are not, in my eyes, sufficient).

Horus Heresy - L-O-FETHING-L. Told you guys we would not be getting the big reveal on the plastic sets and 2nd edition rules. I don't know if GW is intentionally trolling us or just letting the community hype itself into excitement by continuing to announce Horus Heresy previews and then only show us one-off resin miniatures from forgworld, but its getting old and I hope it backfires on them. We're going on a year since those images leaked and they've yet to announce or acknowledge anythign at all about them or that a second edition is coming, etc.

Warhammer + - Meh. I'm a day 1 sub, but mainly for those sweet sweet exclusive minis. These low budget animated shorts don't do anything for me.

Kill Team - Just one mini? Thats it? Thats all we get? Its a cool mini, granted, but it would be nice to have at least seen the rest of the Corsairs unit, or have any mention at all as to who their opponent is (evidently *NOT* Vostroyans - once again, as I've told you guys in other threads, a lot of these preview things that you guys get hyped up about and try to spin into hints and teases for what will be shown off are red herrings, what does *any* of what was shown in the preview have to do with Nimbosa??), or what kind of terrain comes in the box, etc.

Necromunda - This could have been cool if they showed off any minis at all. I suspect we'll find out that some of the rumor engines we've been assuming are guard vehicles are actually Necromunda vehicles. But I have to wonder, is this expansion something Necromunda wanted or needed, or would it have been better for this to be a separate game?

I suspect that - based on rumours that have so far been accurate - there's a ton of 40k releases delayed from 2021 ready to go. GW are trying to catch up and preserve originally planned dates like a summer release for whatever big 40k boxed set is coming, and as a result that stuff is being prioritised.

Therefore things like Kill Team & Necromunda are being shuffled back from their original release dates and now we get sneak peaks instead of real previews.

There are two 'levels' of playtesters. The Mournival & Infinity Circuit groups who are credited in each book deal with work-in-progress rules prior to codex printing and production. Often they only test changes using incomplete codexes - for example one playtester has stated that the Ork codex they used didn't include any of the new Beastsnagga models.

Then there is another (possibly larger) group who receive finalised copies of codexes well before official release. They provide a lot of the initial feedback to GW for the first FAQs & errata (like when they had to publish Space Wolf warlord traits on WarCom for release day) and others produce the usual social media review content. It's from this group that we're seeing all the recent rules leaks for Custodes, Tau, Eldar, etc.

Only the Corsair was unseen from the Aeldari reveals, which is pretty gakky IMO especially when the full Avatar was leaked literally the day before the preview. The fact that nothing has been said about the Heresy leak from months ago just makes every Heresy reveal that much more bitter in a community that's already got an axe to grind against GW.
I don't mind a vague leak that gets people chatting about possible releases or upcoming changes but this last year has just been irritating. I don't think GW should be changing their schedule to suit the leaks btw, that's unreasonable. I would just expect people to have some decency and let people be excited about things instead of ruining it.

Yes, I believe that GW leaked the entire Avatar model the day before the preview, a detailed itinerary of every release from the past 6 months, the entire T'au Codex, and most of the Craftworlds Codex but not anything from AoS, Necromunda, Warcry, HH or any of their other systems. Makes perfect sense.

As an aside, it seems GW have some new exclusive models at the LVO.

One is a Swamp Called Shaman for AOS, and there’s murmuring of a 40K one, but I can find piccies of the 40K one.

Any help?
