Really? WE fans were flipping their lids yesterday over four axes....I really don't get it. I loved it.

A New Rat Character and Book
Four new kits for Woodelves + their new book
New GHB with lots of interesting updates.
Further confirmation of free points going forward.
Announcement of Dawnbringer Crusaders with a small preview of STLs
New STD Ogoroids with multiple builds
New Dwarf Character for KO and a New Vampire for SB.

Pretty happy with all of it to be honest. I don't play Woodelves, Rats or KO, but it's nice to see them getting something.

I think some of you folks just love to complain!

I've not watched the stream, what do you mean?

Basically Skydorf the Sky Dorf and Lord King Vampire the Percher are character models for characters in forthcoming novels.
Instead of selling models based on popular characters that grew a fanbase over time (like gotrek and felix), they're pre-making models for characters they hope to make popular.

So it reminds me of the rules guys having to make rules based on what ends up on the sprue, as that gets done first.

Well I guess it is in the eye of the beholder. I'm not that psyched about fiction, new books don't seem big for a "reveal," and admittedly I find the Sylvaneth stuff really ugly and misguided. So it felt pretty lackluster as a show.

-Sighs, goes online, buys current Deathmaster before it goes OOP. Buys the old Queek Clawlord before that goes OOP as well.-

Don't like it. Nope. Looks so very similar to the recent Underworlds ones...which is nice, but not nice enough to replace the beauty that is Snikch.

So not much other than confirming the next pairing is Skaven/Sylvaneth and showing stuff we already knew about.

Can't say I'm overjoyed. The BL stuff is nice except it's yet another named special Soulblight and ffs how many named bloody vampires do we need?

Yes. Beasts of Chaos has minotaurs. Its... not a great kit. Warriors of Chaos inherited chaos ogres when the Chaos books were split up, and are now getting plastic ones roughly 15 years too late.
The posture is very similar to the minotaurs, but happily the armor and gear hide the atrocious musculature the minotaurs are saddled with.

Yeah, both the assassin and the vampire look like spares leftover from the specialist games.
When they first showed the dwarf and vampire I thought they were leading into a Cursed City expansion (or models that got made for one discarded after the initial screwup)

It doesn’t help that most of yesterdays reveals were actual units (or sizeable models like the Daemon Prince), and a solid half of todays is just character models including characters from books that we didn’t even know existed before today. Makes it feel a lot more sparse, even if the number of actual reveals isn’t much different.

Oof, those things are ugly. I'd recommend the new not-minotaurs fill in for all minotaur related roles in this fantasy universe. They look much better.

Just two new miniatures for AoS since 2014, and they don't use the chance to refresh the 1999 units. Disapointing

Yeah, and unfortunately, with four books jammed into autumn, I expect at least 2 or 3 will be the same 'Book and one model' format. There just isn't time for multiple big releases- especially with chaos getting one afterwards. Since autumn is Order, Chaos, Destruction, Destruction; I figure that first destruction book will get the good release. A second big order release seems unlikely right after Sylvaneth, and chaos has STD slated.

Weak presentation, amount of content felt light relative to yesterday and the enthusiasm was not there - I dig the Sylvaneth stuff but Rats deserved more than just a single hero mini (and I say this as someone who has Sylvaneth but doesn't have Rats).

Voss wrote:

It... looks like old empire stuff (even though Eddie just said it isn't as I typed that).

Baroque and gothic... yay.

Whoops. Adam just slipped and asked if there would be non-humans in this Cities of Sigmar army.

Long running project like Sisters of Battle.

And Adam just directly compared it to his old Empire army. I'm glad the messaging on this is clear. Its totally not the AoS Empire replacement co-opting Cities of Sigmar, but it also entirely is. Well done.

Adam and Eddie probably have no clue what the finished product is going to look like - GW heavily compartmentalizes and silos this type of info, in the past they have mentioned on other streams that they got to see stuff for the first time "yesterday" or "last week", etc. implying that they don't get much advance notice on stuff. So, that being the case their ability to talk about this will be limited by their lack of foresight on it, and thus colored by their ability to place what little info they have within the context of what they already know.

I actually really like the vampire (aside from the hair). He looks far more 'normal' and generic blood sucked than a lot of the vamps recently released like Ratboy, Ms. Mask or the giant half vamp/beast and less obviously armoured up than the Crimson Court lot. If we were still doing bloodlines he'd be more of a von Carstein where a lot of the recent ones have looked to be varying degrees of Necrarch or Blood Dragon. It's a design choice I think there's a lot room for in the current line.

We're literally the most iconic rivalry of all Warhammer (sorry marines), we totally deserved a starterbox of rats vs lizzies, and 100% model reranges, and all they give us is pain while armies from 2019 complain from lack of content :(

Its mostly the hair, yeah.

Overall I definitely like him more than the various Soulblighters released with the book/Cursed City. But that isn't a high bar (and actually dissuaded me from picking the army back up on re-release).

Probably next year for Seraphons, but I hope that when they do get the 3rd edition treatment they also see Slann making a return to 40K. With Necrons getting the upper hand on the whole 40K universe, the Seras could show up when all is lost to say "Take off, Bobby-G! We'll take care of these jokers! Ha-haaaaa! To be fair, settingwise they were pretty unique. You could easily argue that a lot of the rivalries seem....generic. Orcs and humans, wooooo....sigh.

Guess we really needed another box for Sylvaneth though. Because angry trees and rats, that's truly inspirational.

I didn't watch this one because I don't really care for Age of Sigmar. Looking through the community posts is interesting.

The Slyvaneth are interesting, it's quite a weird bug vibe they have going on and I guess have for a while. I sort of like it although it's definitely odd. I think for AoS it's a good design choice.

New Skaven assassin looks cool, I always liked Clan Eshin the most although I was expecting some new night runners.

The mortal free cities thing seems.. odd? Like why go make a deal of that when you've got The Old World on the far horizon. Unless it's a bit of a teaser and preview for stuff that might end up being linked to that of course...

I won't comment on the minotaurs because they look bloody awful.

EDIT: I also absolutely agree that Lizardmen versus Skaven was the biggest rivalry. It is the ultimate epitome of Order v Destruction.
