I think it's a little vague how the Tainted Coil works, but they're also a cult without a clear Patriarch (and happy that way).

They're a little more Umbrella Corp, rather than revolutionaries, with a tendency towards the more monstrous side of things.

Could well be a similar situation here (or even an offshoot of a Tainted Coil branch).

Necromundans could also be "unbreedable" stock for stealers, betwenn the various weirdnesses the houses have going on (Van Saar with their... eh... stuff i'm not getting into too much, Delaque with their even weirder stuff, Escher with their degrading gene-line and the Goliaths being straight-up vatborns/clones/mystery meat in many cases) there's not too many actual baseline humans in the mix, and that's before we get into possible DAoT macguffins that might be active on the population level in the background. Add in murderous mobs of zealots searching for mutants, regular gene-scans for all sorts of reasons, an Astartes recruiting presence being on the planet permanently and whatnot, and Stealers might have a surprisingly hard time all things considered.

Don’t need baseline humans to infect.

A Cult need a society more than a specific species.

Tau are unappealing, due to the strict Castes.

Orks don’t breed in the right way, and in Rogue Trader, Hybrids and even Brood Brothers were shunned, as the others recognised something Un-Orky about them. Even if they don’t kill you on sight, you end up ostracised from their society, which really isn’t helpful.

Necrons? Gots no DNA, bruv.

Eldar? Takes far, far too long to make babies.

Votann? Does Not Compute. Eew. Eew. Error. Error. Eew.

Humans? Goldilocks, Goldilocks, Goldilocks! Vast numbers! Rapid breeding! Interstellar! An ideal host species, however genetically degraded a given planet or sub-culture/species might be.

Single Genestealer ends up on a planet with no sentient life? It can still infect other creatures in an attempt to cycle round to More Purestrains and letting the Hive Fleets know there’s at least a Sandwich going down here, and even better this Sandwich isn’t particularly fighty.

Reading the Book of Ruin again.

There is a mention of something called the Brood-thing, but it doesn't really give a description of what it actually is.

I do believe the strange names for the GSC, including Malstrains and Brood-thing is just because its Necromunda's flavour of GSC, similar how Wyrdstone is just Warpstone talked about in a different name in Mordheim.

So I finally got a chance to read The Ruins of Jardlan and it really gives the impression that Delaque are going to be the focus of an upcoming book. I know they said this is the last book in the Aranthian Succession, but if there's a new edition coming or a new campaign arc, I would expect Delaque to get some investment. Fingers crossed, anyway.

It's slightly jarring that they've suggested this is the last book in that narrative when it clearly isn't finished (and Delaque are the only ones not to get a bespoke vehicle). To be honest, I'll be kind of glad to see the back of it; just rampantly typical 'turn everything up to 11' GW fluff writing where named characters inexplicably bump into each other, there's lots of noise and the status quo either doesn't change at all or randomly changes overnight. I get that it's secondary to the game and miniatures but it just makes for a less engaging product.

Well, there’s still plenty afoot.

Lord Helmawr still isn’t properly dead, and his stasis casket was nicked by Kal Jericho (his illegitimate son).

Lady Haera is likewise in the care of a brother previously believed dead.

So the line of Helmawr is down, but far, far from out.

And so there’s plenty of scope to continue the story begun in the Aranthian Succession.

I was trying to avoid spoilers Absolutely plenty of scope and I assume they'll now dive into another phase of the narrative. I just find it a bit weird that this arc ends where it does (with a bit of a hot nothing, especially compared to book 2).

But we have a canonical reason for that: Wizards have convinced officials(and each other) that there's a difference between the two so that they can experiment with the "safer" version and not be arrested.

Ah. That's quite a wrench in the works.

Hopefully my guy can get them in the required quantities.

Ok, so it's AUD$290. Individual components bought on their own would equate to $450.

I can get them for $232 a box. This will be an expensive week...

I just bought the Outpost, in the UK.

It's £105. I was expecting £100, though the discount is still OK.

And the most powerful spiritual leader of the Ash Waste Nomads, The Lady of Ash, calls Haera “sister” after getting her hands on her, after a lengthy chase.

It's direct only. Still a heck of a deal compared to retail getting it from GW so I broke down and grabbed one. I probably would have bought two if I could get it with a store discount even tho I don't need that much.

A lot of "direct only" products still end up for sale from retailers. Direct only doesn't mean "it can only be ordered from GW dorectly", it's actually available for retailers to order in but at reduced margin and via a different retail portal rather than through the weekly sales call.

I know of two places that do Direct stuff for 5% off.

Another can occasionally do more, but I think that's only during pre-order week.

I gotcha. My store told me I was better off ordering it myself in case it sold out quick, which it actually hasn't yet but oh well.

I swear they made a rogue doctor and a lookout model. Maybe not gang specific (the robo arm doc looked delaque but I guess he’s a character?) but still

These are definitely the first Gang Specific hangers on.

Doc is very cool. Lookout? Honestly, it’s a cool model, but if this was a separate purchase I’d just convert.

They did have generics.

Good to see confirmation that Delaque aren't getting unique vehicles.

Well these are very much in the 'cool models but why do they exist?' pile. Feels like one of the SG sculptors just felt like doing some Delaque on their lunch breaks and they made it to production. Not like there's a swathe of other stuff that doesn't have models yet or anything.

They had the chance to make open coat Delaque with the 2nd kit, but instead we had to get one in Resin

They're decent enough models, but I can't say there's really anything exciting about them. They just look quite generic, which makes sense because they're sort of are meant to be, but it doesn't really make for particularly interesting miniatures that have much substance. Just comes across as a relatively uninspired idea without much character or thought to them.

So this all but confirms no Ash Wastes plastic release for Delaque.

Well, they're Delaque, but there's no reason to use them only in Delaque gangs. They could be outcasts or freelancers (or spies in this case) offering their services to anyone.

And having one of those guys in your gang has the potential of a good story.
