Somewhat interesting that none of these preview articles allude to the fact that the ruler of Necromunda and hence of the Palanites is now some weird alien giant thing rather than Lord Helmawr. I wonder how they'll be handling that.

(I haven't read the Squat or Nomad books yet, so I'm not sure how much they referenced this, but obviously they're much less connected to the Imperial House as factions.)

From my perspective, what I believe they are trying to do is have the "armybooks" be usuable in the 41st Millenium, since none of the "House of ..." books go further than 999 m41 (including The Nomad and Squat book).

The House of books are setting the stage and bringing us the characters. The Campaign books afterwards put us over the edge past the coming of the Great Darkness.

I haven't read the Ash Wastes Nomads book, but the timeline in Halls of the Ancestors stops right at the start of the Aranthian Succession story.

AFAICT, the Nomads book pretty much ignores the entire Aranthian Succession.

I wouldn't lay good odds on the new Enforcers book taking any notice of it either.

Only a couple of new things for Necromunda from the Big! Preview! Show!

I think some of those Kharadron Overlords would make good Ironhead Squats, especially the Vossinki Mining Clan. Wouldn't one of those airships make a really cool vehicle conversion?

Also, some of the Leagues of Voltronn guys. The Arkanist Evaluator or the Cthonian Earthshakers.

The nomad book is outland specific.

The end run of the Succession books left Lady Helmawr in a Spyrer suit, and the war continues. Expanding across the planet keeps the setting moving, and gives you more stuff to do then just two gangs enter, one gang leaves, which killed the 1st edition.

Myself? I'm really close to dropping half the stuff I have for 40K to trade for Necromunda, and beyond. I love the Car Wars aspect, the Mad Max level, and the different added material that has been showing up.

Not a fan of the overpriced out of reach figures, nor the resin, but I still have my figures, and am fine with the DIY vehicles to bring to the table.

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.

From my POV, it's worth it. Newcromunda has so much more heart than any other current GW game. There are a few other important factors for making it sing, namely a mature and fair-minded gaming group who will voluntarily avoid min-maxxing, and/or an Arbitrator or group agreement to voluntarily use a few simple house rules to make campaigns feel more like campaigns than competitive pickup games.

It's not that expensive if you're the type who's content to live out of one gang box. If you want WYSIWYG options, specialists and roster depth, or are, god forbid, a completionist like me (who wants to be able to provide every gang with a multitude of options to a hypothetical currently non-existent gaming group that has nothing of their own) then yeah the cost can rack up quickly. That's also applicable if you don't have a suitable terrain collection and are solely responsible for building one. But as a player in someone else's scene, or a collective effort, it's not that expensive. Pirate all your books though.

The fun thing about the Hangers On is that with perhaps a modicum of conversion? Any suitably scaled model from any range can do the job.

The same ultimately goes for gangs. Granted, something without “official” weapons might take me as an opponent more than a few in-game reminders at first. But once I’m used to it, sorted. I’d only ask that your proxies are consistent. So models with what is clearly, visually, Rifle A, always represent a Lasgun, Rifle B always represents an Autogun.

Heck, if you run a Venator Gang you can go absolutely nuts on who’s what. Though I would again request my preference for Clear Visual Representation.

It’s a proper sandbox game. A framework for your campaign to develop and muck about with. As long as your players are having a great time? It’s all good.

Pack your biggest fly swatter – It’s an Ashwing Helamite summer on Necromunda

You get two Ashwing Helamites in the box, as well as a token for the lure and an optional head and sky mantle complete with Ashwing Lure to mark one of your Nomads out as their handler.
This plastic kit allows you to place the Ashwings on scenic base toppers, and it also includes flying stands for a choice of poses. You can find their rules in Necromunda: Tribes of the Wasteland.

Seems a really tiny box to my mind.

These are fantastic. GW often misses the mark with pseudo-real-fantasy creatures (like most of the Sylvaneth bugs and other AoS mounts) but there are ace, ace, ace.

The only way they could be better would be two pairs of wings, and they kinda look like that may have been the plan and they ran out of sprue space, so they plugged the front wing mount with that yellow gland.

Yeah - I'm wondering if it's a mistake and it should be resin, or if it is one of the small boxes like the Hive Scum or upgrade kits.

Look like Fallout rejects. Also plastic? Seems like something that would actually be perfect for resin.

This does remind me I’ve still not read the Ash Waste Nomad sourcebook. It’s right over there. I can see it, right now. I just haven’t made the time to read it,

I was all ready to give this a miss, but then I saw it was plastic. So I'll probably get this one.

I think this will be the same size box as the weapon upgrade sprues.

Actually these look quite good. I may need to add a box to my pile of unbuilt Ash Wastes figures.

Plastic? Yes please. Depending on price, maybe multiples are viable. Nicely done bugs.

Favourite thing here?

Flying stands are optional! Granted, the bottom pic is nightmare fuel, with its little leggies held out, ready to latch onto a victim. And much of that is lost when not on the flying stand (see top pic).

But man. To not have to fanny around with those stands is a nice option.

I wonder if you can mix and match the bases with the different models. In case of buying multiple sets.

I plan on buying at least 2 sets for my Heresy Militia Ash Wastes Nomads army, so I'll definitely find out for you.

Great that they are in plastic.

Mine will be on the ground, no mucking around with flying bases for them to break off from.

I'll certainly will buy this set (or two), they look great and can also be used for other game systems.

However again, it seems strange they are prepared to have these in plastic but not the characters (ie still in resin).

I know everyone will tell me it is not cost effective to do characters in plastic, but how is it cost effective for a 'special' Nomad release.

It's anyone's guess without access to GW's sales figures, but mine would be that creatures sell significantly better than (more or less) single-use NPCs.

The bugs are brilliant. I love getting hive/wastes critters for use in general 40k-RPG games.

I think they’re using up an “accessory sprue” slot - the nomads don’t have much to do with regular hiver weapons. But they would have factored side-usage in too.

Also, those look like 70×30 mm bases, so those bugs are pretty big. Like Tyranid gargoyle size+.

Love the bugs. Brilliant they are in plastic- means I'll buy at least 3 sets.

Great for necromunda, awesome for other post-Apoc/Fallout settings, Amazing for my Judge Dredd Cursed Earth collection.

Bit disappointing that the kit doesn't come with the parts to actually assemble a handlers- not so bad for me, my other half managed to find me another copy of the Ash wastes starter set so I have a whole bunch of nomads spare, but if you already have your gang painted up and you only need one spare chap to make use of the head/backpack then you'd need to fork out for another whole gang pack for your one handler. I guess the wings took up the sprue space, but I would have lost some of that scenic basing for the body parts (if possible)

But otherwise a very good kit, with great potential for use outside of necromunda. Can't wait to paint some of theses! I hope we get more similar kits for other bugs/beasties/auxiliary stuff, outside of just resin kits.
