As for the Custodes having torsos for both sexes, I think they judged it pretty well this time around. Like, I didnt even notice it at first, so subtle enough not to feel irritating IMO

To be honest, you're right. I don't think anyone really noticed it until Stahly pointed it out (thanks, Stahly /MASSIVE SARCASM).

Hmmmm.... I'm sensing sarcasm, but I can't be sure.

I'm waiting for the rage at my local shop when I purposely swap the female heads onto the "male" bodies.

The Blade Champion or Trajann Valoris will hopefully look better with the new Shield Captain's head. I can't wait till I can see if they scale well.

What's interesting is that the body sculpts are not unisex. Similar to Stormcast Eternals, you get wider, chunkier armour for the male Custodes, and slightly slimmer sculpts with subtle boob armour for the female bodies. 3 male and 3 female bodies per sprue.

I think I'm genuinely disappointed with this choice. I rather like the idea that Custodes are so heavily altered that there shouldn't be this much difference. I'm glad that the differences appear to be far more subtle than with Stormcast, at least.

I think the way they are so similar that we didn't notice until now makes it acceptable for me. Stormcast are too dimorphic, to say nothing of older ranges.

I was literally considering this.

In fact, I did head-swap Trajann...

Meh, the local EC player has had an entirely bright pink army since 3rd ed. The real shocking part is that he took the time to scan, shrink, and reprint actual porn magazines to place in his vehicle interiors.

Assassins are in the new Custodes book. Not much has changed, but Goonhammer has a review of them as part of their Custodes review.

Any Fellblade owners/builders here?

I was thinking, since I preordered a Glaive, is its only difference to a Fellblade the actual turret sprue in the kit?

Thinking here being, if I manage to buy a separate Fellbalde turret sprue off someone, will I be able to turret swap with the Glaive, ie. have the ability to use the same chassis for both superheavy variants?

Thanks in advance for any insight!

I don't have the full scale version, but I did get the LI kits.

The Fellblade also has a hull-mounted demolisher cannon while the Glaive just has blank armour panels in that location. Either you'd need a way to swap those out, or just remember to use the demolisher when running as a fellblade.

Ahh, good point. So the Glaive lacks the battle cannon entirely. Thats nasty, I'd need to magnetize that particular part in addition to scoring a turret sprue.. Also, all the Fellblade turrets on ebay right now do not come with the demolisher bits. And the price! 90€ for just the turret is too much, the full kit only costs 120€ (on a discounter)

Hopefully GW does what they've done with all the other weapon option sprues, and eventually starts selling the turret sprues on their own..

Been ages since I built my Fellblade, so dunno how feasible it might be to magnetise the upper hull.

But to be honest? Unless you’re 3d printing the turret, you’re on the hook for buying both anyway, as I can see how else you’d reliably get your mitts on a spare.

Yeah unlikely that anyone will have a spare turret sprue, barring mispacks.

..yet, ebay currently has 6 of them on sale right now (they are missing the battlecannon bits tho).

I could even stomach the lack of battlecannon, but 90€ for a spue is a pisstake

Make sure you are getting the right gun. The Fellblade has a demolisher cannon in the hull, which is what you'd want (not to be confused with the "accelerator cannon" in the turret).

Because injection moulded plastic can't do undercuts; unless you go for very complex moulds with moving parts.

So if you want poses that aren't essentially fairly flat in design, then you do end up often needing to make more cuts on the part to achieve that. Doubly so if you're trying to also hide many of the cuts in the natural shape of the model

I was mistaken, it is not the myrmidons, it was a 40k kit. Nevertheless id argue a 2 component foot with a flat bottom is more sensible than a 5 component one when theyre glued down to a base regardless.

In addition to what Overread said, 30k kits often have a particularly large number of pieces. Sometimes this is because they are attempts to faithfully translate the detail of resin kits (who cheerfully were able to spam undercuts due to their softer moulds) and sometimes it's to enable additional posing and making conversions easier, as with the Saturnine Terminators for example.

30k has always been the game that directs itself a bit more to the experienced hobbyist, so the tradeoff makes perfect sense and I would much rather have a challenging but very poseable mini than an easy monopose model.

You want tiny pieces? You want them? Do you? Really tiny, really fiddly, teeny tiny pieces? Smaller than an Ant’s Wellies?

Legions Imperialise. Witness the three part legs for some Dreadnoughts! Feel the very mild frustration at lining up sponson weapons just right! Wail and gnash thy teeth at the tiny flat bit wot goes on the back of a super heavy turret!

Good fun to build though.

Honestly hardest model I've built from GW - Dexcessa.

You have 3 hands where you have to stick fingers on!
Not to mention a length of cord that is a single part with 3 connection points, two of which are just the tiny ends of cord.

Oh and the arms themselves; almost no keying on the joins so again a bit floaty to fit.

Hardest model ever from GW - all plastic - super awesome looking; but darn fiddly.

At times like that I like to remind myself of the trauma of attaching the wings to the helmet of the metal Undead Black Knight Standard Bearer (5th Ed WHF IIRC), potentially the smallest contact point that GW ever crafted....... (add to that the ongoing trauma of metal models being notorious for falling off their plastic skeleton steeds and worrying about them getting broken off)

A few minutes thinking about that always makes me more cheerful addressing my current problem

Solar Aux models look nice, good to see in plastic.

Spartan with the new fellblade sponson sprue instead? Seems like a bit of a waste of a sku, and already has rules IIRC. Where are the missing sicaran turrets?

Seems like super low fruit, bit disappointing.

Ogryns and Rapiers were on my bingo card so bit happy.

But Spartan "Prometheus"? Something else with it and it would be fine but just sole vehicle that is just adding weapons from kit that was missing them is bit... boring.

But Tallarn sounds kinda interesting. Maybe finally some custom stuff for Auxilia?
