I painted these well over 10 years ago, probably shortly before the game was discontinued. If I were to paint more today I might've gone with the green/white scheme, or shifted the metallic hull to more of a bone color.

Finally got around to taking a proper picture of the fleet. Autumn Twilight's battlegroup Rhapsody of Fire in its eternal glory.

This year's new additions at the front (bases with red clouds), everything else painted somewhere around 2009 as a teenager with paints now long gone from the shelves. There's about as much stuff still waiting for their turn in the painting queue.

Complete aside, but I’ve a big set of the Industrial Zone terrain for LI. which means I’ve a load of the cranes.

I’m not going to be using all of them, so will end up with spares. And it strikes me they might make a solid basis for BFG ships.



Can be assembled as one of two lengths as it is.

Anyone interested, let me know.

Still got a couple left in case anyone else wants them.

I only charge postage, as I always feel weird putting a price on stuff I’m just not using.

Apparently I forgot to put up some pics from a fun little four-player participation game I ran at our RPG club for a handful of newbies. Chaos fleet attempts a planetary invasion, but manages to crush the Imperial defence before any boots hit the ground as the defending admiral decides to save their crippled and burning ships and leaves the fearful world to its fate.

Fresh from the void-docks today, painted over two days: cruisers Abyss of Pain, Echoes of Tragedy & Unholy Warcry, light cruisers Crystal Moonlight & Flash of the Blade as well as the escort squadron In Tenebris sail out.

1200 points Fleet Engagement, the Imperial wedge smashed into a Chaos pirates' encircling trap but eventually battered their way through with the Dauntless squadrons relentlessly staying in the maneuver game until the very end.

Great stuff there, Horizon. The Xenos in particular.

Found some Eldar in the boxes and wanted to branch out from my regular Zorn palette a bit with some psychedelic thermal synthwave shenanigans. The first attempt on the Aconites failed, as there just was no kick to it. Then I went and bought a couple of Vallejo's fluo paints and most importantly, finally some magenta. With that, the pair of Hellebores got a whole new vibe.

Apocalypse-class battleship The Mighty Ride of the Firelord sets sail towards the stars. An afternoon's paintjob which almost failed at the start, when my superglue exploded all over the base

Light cruiser Harvest of Sorrow and its Nightshade escorts Blood Tears slid into the void from their piratical hideaways yesterday.




Only a whole lot more to go before the pointy-eared buccaneers can actually hit the field

Should have been travelling this week, coughing out my lungs at home instead... what better excuse than that to paint some minis then, eh?

Another step towards fleet-strength piracy with the Eclipse-class cruiser Dead Winter Reigns joining its void-faring kin.

Finished with the corsair ships that I had, finally playable at 1200 or so points. What is this, a whole project taken to the end or something? Inconceivable!

Aurora When Sorrow Sang, Hemlocks Bright Eyes and Aconites Fast to Madness painted in a day. Now to find that Void Stalker from somewhere...

Updating my BFG 'Nids that I built as a teenager sometime before 2010.




They used to be pretty sloppy work, lots of green and chestnut ink all over the place. Time for a bit of new polish, now.

The Black Templars' Benith flotilla's flagship, battle barge Unforgiving Blade, as seen during the Selen II uprising.

Had to rebuild the engines due to a missing part and a whole comedy of errors, but eventually after about seven hours of painting she is ready to sail. Icons were freehanded.

Darn right BFG is alive and well thanks to the fans. i am currently working on my battle fleet BAKKA force, got one more ship to go.

Fixing up recent purchases. One Hemlock was missing its bottom, so I crafted a new one from a 40k support platform. The Auroras were maybe the worst casts I've had the pleasure of working with. Molds have slipped, wings needed to be reshaped in hot water, sails had holes, rear flutes needed to be resculpted due to bad resin ports and so on.

Hopefully soon i will have something to post, been working on my battle fleet bakka, waiting on one ship to finish things up.

Did GW bring down the hammer on all the 3d print sellers for this game? A while back I was looking at getting some ships off etsy or Godforge and they're nearly all gone as far as I can tell.

there are still plenty especially if you want too print your own, the best i have found to just buy is from scourge scenics

Those look decent enough, shame about the Godforge versions though..I wonder what happened. It was nice having those being sold here in the US, and they seemed to have better detailing.
