I'd absolutely adore getting more 6th Ed. Empire kits. Sadly this means it won't happen. What WILL happen, now that I've gone the 3P route to make up for the shortcomings, is a rerelease of the Dark Elf Reaper Bolt Thrower.

Like characters. I'm not spending $200+ on an old metal character when GW MIGHT re-release it in the future for less

One day...

I'm still hoping we either get the old forsaken kit back (just for the bits) or a much nicer, more generic mutation version

I never even knew the Forsaken kit existed until the unit came back in the Old World. It wasn't one sale for very long, was it? One wonders why they even put the unit entry in the army list if they weren't going to sell the models. How many other units are running arouns without GW selling the models?

It didn't sell very well as the Forsaken minis were not great.

Some of the components in the kit were great for conversions though

I liked the Forsaken, but they disappeared before I could grab them. If GW has any spies in the thread, I would definitely throw money at GW to be able to buy a box or two.

Did they bring it back? I don't think it ever got an Old World release. People clowned on it when it was released for WHF but I'd love to get my hands on some of the heads/arms

Yes, it was a blip really. It's not the shortest-lived ever kit (I feel like that prize goes to the Horus Heresy 2.0 resin Melee Weapons Upgrades, of which I somehow did get one) but it was definitely not set to last.

I like the aesthetic of the halberdier state troops in this artwork. They look pretty good in the Total Warhammer games and the old Empire heraldry book too.

Existing Empire Soldiery kit draws on medieval artwork. Among the usual amusing marginalia, you’ll see various shoeless people.

I've found the Warlord Landsknechts to be on the smaller side even for historicals. You might want to consider Wargames Atlantic's conquistador and associated kits.

As someone who also prefers them over the 6th ed State Troops(to the point I sold off all my 6th ed State Troops to replace them with the newer ones), I'm aware. But it also got the point across to BorderCountess as to what Razor meant.

State Troops are meant to be the professional soldiery of the Empire, they should look "parade ready", or at the very least like they didn't just get dragged out of bed in the middle of the night and marched into battle barefoot in PJs

Does anyone else do plastic German Landsharks (no, I can't spell the word and no I won't look it up, you know what I mean)

Several options, none of them in quite the right scale.

And the gunners/crossbows are fantastic.

Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhh. For me personally I don't really vibe with "fantasy means anything goes"; if you tell me This is a human male and don't qualify that with some kind of "all humans in this fantasy world are 10x stronger than IRL" then depicting those by all indications ordinary men hefting crossbows that would weigh as much as a person like they're nothing gives me the ick. And I'm not even talking about proportions/GW making weapon depictions oversized, a "realistic" version of the crossbow/handgun on the latter plastic state troops would still look more like a siegebow or shortbarrel punt gun than an infantry weapon.

The minis from the 6th starter box were aesthetically spot on IMO, just reprint those sprues.

Often times, when a warband of orcs or beastmen come charging into the village, there isn't time to get everyone up to standard! They just need to look more professional than Bretonnian peasantry.

There's as much variety to State Troopers as there is to the Electoral States themselves. A State Trooper from Reikland or Nuln is going to look different to one from the back end of Stirland and I'd wager there are more "simple munitions arms and armour" State Troopers across the Empire than there are "Milanese militia" ones (who still wore munitions grade equipment, just in greater quantity and quality).

And, with one minor exception, the current kit is parade ready.

State troops wouldn’t be the first line of defence for a random village; that would be the militia, aka everyone in the village with a strong arm and a pointy stick.

Militia is probably a band of robbers and thugs that got recruited to fend of the common enemy (like your neighbouring county ). They would prioritize looting good boots.

The Militia look like the Townfolk, the actual "State Troops" look like they're the Robbers and lowest part of the Empire's society.

I hope we get a pladtic MtO Wave.... Would buy any Empire Set 3x

They could made the Models from the 6th Edition Starter into a MtO Set, like they did with the 3rd Edition Starter of 40k...
