not pre-ordering as frankly not that excited by it, yoof is likely to get it as he playes 40k with a bunch of his mates and bounc to end up playing it

but I already have far too many tin cans and likewise far too many omnomnoms so really don't need the models from either side

the cash saved is going towards the resin 3d printer fund

Who here has played the new rules yet? What point size did you play and HOW LONG did the game take?

For me, game time is key - I don't have hours and hours to contribute to getting back into playing. That's what I use for painting!

Nobody has the points to be able to answer that.

I'm going to guess the recruit edition will be 5 flamer and the Terminator captain vs 10 gants and the winged prime. Elite edition could add the terminator squad and the screamer killer, command edition with terrain on top.

Ya not interested in the box set. Way too pricy. Might pick some nids up cheap on ebay, though I have enough armys already I probably don't need another.

I'm half tempted to start(slowly) nids. Debating between swapping them for more marines and keeping.

Swap makes more immediate sense but then better not get temptation to start nids any time soon.

Find a Marine buddy and swap.

That's what I did with Indomitus and what I'm already planning and setting up with Leviathan.

The bonus is there are a LOT of marine players so it should be fairly easy to find someone to swap your marines with if you don't want them. Then you get double the wonderful Tyranids

I have spent last week building up the last marines from the previous box, and the infiltrators from even further back
My space wolves have way to much models as it is, and really dont want boring stormbolter terminators for them.
So, natrually, I still get the new box and start a new chapter!

Summer Campaign? Unlock reveals by participating? Win stuff? Why not:

https://www.warhammer-community.com/2023/06/05/warhammer-40000-global-battle-decide-the-fate-of-a-world-and-unlock-massive-reveals-in-the-battle-for-oghram

Both the Space Marines and the Tyranids still have plenty of new miniatures waiting to be unveiled, and the winning faction will have all of their upcoming releases shown off first.

You will have the chance to win every single one of these new and unseen reinforcements when you take part in the global battle – no matter which side you fight for.*

Terms and Conditions apply; need to buy Leviathan (or the code) to participate:

Pre-order the Leviathan boxed set this Saturday and among the stacks of miniatures inside you’ll find a special single-use code to join the Battle for Oghram. This is your invitation to fight for the fate of the planet, and earn the victorious faction priority access to exciting new reveals in the next Warhammer 40,000 preview.

Once the campaign begins on the 26th of June, you’ll have 13 days to muster your forces, and log the results of your first game playing the new edition. Your epic victory or crushing defeat will help decide whether the world survives the xenos onslaught or falls to the might of Hive Fleet Leviathan.

GW are doing a massive user submitted results campaign, Eye of Terror style. Participation code included in Leviathan (seems like Marine vs Tyranids only).

Honestly, i'm still trying to wrap my head around how the Avatar is stronger than the daemon primarchs we've seen. He's tougher than Mortarion

God-fragment trumps elevated mortal? Even if the mortal was nearly immortal already…. The literally-solid-iron-body thing probably doesn’t hurt either.

Either way, it’s nice to see ol’ ironface being combat viable again. I was slightly confused by the ranged attack of the Wailing Doom being stronger than the strike mode of its melee attacks but then it’s only the one shot.

I look forward to seeing the Greater Daemons being even more powerful then? lmfao

Not sure why people are down on Morty.

A Prism shooting Morty :
2 * .888 * .888 * .5 * 6 * .666 = 3.2 -- it takes 5 Prisms

And Avatar
2 * .888 * .888 * .5 * 3 = 2.4 -- it takes 5.8 Prisms

Morty has FLY and GRENADES. He also ignores modifiers -- there's lots of -2M -2Adv -2Charge. Lots of -1 Battleshock. Morty will be on LD5. Avatar will be on LD7.

Morty can also provide his own cover as well as for the rest of the army near him.

Yawn.

Datasheets, please.

I've got squads I want to finish but need to want to be sure of the arbitrary gear restrictions.

Also want to settle on a faction or two for the edition, but need to see if they fit my playstyle and model preferences.

Haven't checked it in months. Too much guesswork adding to the clutter.

I was expecting some datasheets today, and others slowly trickling in over the next couple weeks (which seems pointless to me, but oh well).
WarCom has trained me to expect new 40k info in the morning hours.

Though speak of the devil (marines have snuck into the downloads section):

For your convenience:

- The entire month of June will be hyping up free products that you can download
- 2nd of June: core rules and quickstart guide
- 5th of June: Leviathan datasheets
- 8th of June: Tyranid datasheets
- 9th of June: SM datasheets
- 12th of June: non-codex SM datasheets
- 13th of June: Chaos SM datasheets
- 14th of June: Imperium datasheets
- 15th of June: Xenos datasheets
- 16th of June: GT packs and points list
- 20th of June: Datasheets for Combat Patrol
- 23rd of June: Boarding Patrol and Crusade material

Leviathan datasheets probably today, Tyranids/SM end of the week, the rest next week.

So 1 box of Leviathan does not give you a legal Ripper Swarms unit as you need 3 bases minimum.

That's ok, the neurogaunts have nodebeasts which... don't have any rules. They're limited to 1-2, but no indication why.

I really hate the LT. Anti-[Faction] is a concept I despise, and it doesn't even make him good against tyranids. Yay, ~3 wounds with no AP. Scary guy. A small touch of harassment with his gun, and a small reroll 1s bubble that he might well scuttle away with. Seems like conversion fodder for a different type of lieutenant.

Sternguard look really good though. I don't know that I'd want to swap into combi weapons. Losing a shot each, BS AND AP, plus assault and heavy for anti-infantry mortals wound is a pretty big trade.

These are just the Leviathan sheets. I assume there will be duplicate cards with more options in the actual release, given we've already seen a Terminator datacard with additional CC weapons.

A few of them are likely fixed - eg the winged prime might not come with any additional weapon options unless we get a different model for it appearing later (or a shiek kit which lets you build one as a prime)

Or tournament limit isn't part of these. Datasheets made so it works tournament and outside. Otherwise they need 2 set of faction datasheets.
