I'd assume 3 poses, as we've seen two of them in pictures.

I think that's 3 poses, they talked about the other two -the neuro and Deathleaper separately.

Sooner or later I'm sure they show up in a discount boxed set, which is why I'm not buying any of the infantry resculpts on release. Got plenty of the old models painted that will be usable so it's not worth paying full price.

Happy to wait and see what Tyranids get for xmas this or next year.

Valrak said there will be a Nid Christmas box this year with the new stealers, I think new Hormagaunts and the Norn Emissary in it. I'll probably wait and see if that appears. I wasn't in a rush to get more termagants but after building and painting the Leviathan ones I'm sold on them - such nice models. I'll be very keen to get Hormagaunts as well as they are a favourite of mine but I reckon I'll get a biovore kit as I don't have any and probably one of the lictors because I can't wait to paint them plus the codex initially. The prices look as expected ..

I would put grain of salt on that one. When did new army/refreshed range get christmas box in first year? Especially in few months? Don't think that has happened even once before.

Marines & Necrons got boxes after their range updates in 2020
Sisters & Orks got new models in their 2021 xmas boxes after a codex & range update earlier the same year

But those didn't include the new models. Marines and Necrons only included new 9th edition models in the 2021 Battleforces.
Orks did include the new boys in the same year they where released but they are monopose and the rest was old stuff.
Same with the Sisters, only the Celestian Sacresants where released in the same year, the rest was 2020.

So the Tyranid/SM Battleforce this year having multiple new models in the same year they where released is unlikely

What an odd reply

My post was in response to a claim that new/refreshed factions didn't get an xmas box in the same year, so I gave a few examples to the contrary. There was no claim made about new models.

However you then try to point out that none of the boxes had new models, then immediately provide two examples of them including new models:
In addition to those, the Necron 2020 box did actually contain new warriors (then their 2021 box had more new stuff)

Given that I don't think it's unrealistic for a Tyranid xmas box this year with some of the new horms, even if there will likely be older kits included too.

Fair point but did they have new models?

Guess they could put warriors, carnies and something like trygon, oh and harpies.

At least necron box had nothing released that fall.

Gw doesnt want to encourage not buying full price on release. That results in kit being failure in sales.

I'm sure they're also conscious that the poster-bad guys being a horde army of £30 for 10 low-point models is a big turn off for customers, much like the ~£30 pyrovores (assuming they don't change rules - they certainly will), would be £90 for a 90 point unit.

It would be sound market of them to (for once) actually consider their entry force as requiring a slightly less costly... entry.

Then they would set up full price lower. Not ruin the first crucial 3 month sale window and release limited quantity of discount box.

The norn queen would be failure in sales for GW's book if it wouldn't sell on release because people wait for discount box(which most don't even get then)

But sure it's theoretically possible. Just unheard move from GW. Or when has new models come up in christmas box before? Maybe my memory fails but having checked above boxes none had new models.

Would you not be buying the minis because of a rumour of a hypothetical box contents which you assume will entail a savings in 4 months time?

but agree on this instance making a horde army cheaper upfront would be smart.

I just want me Codex so I can start refining what I want in my army.

Is this the longest time between launch and new codex?

I've not finished assembling the warriors (I know, magnets, but I really cba) because I'm not convinced the 2 heavy per 3 will remain for ranges nor that all melee weapons will stay "melee weapon" in the codex. I also want to see if the units resemble the summary stats in the instructions for leviathan and if not, where those went.

I think Indomitus was longer, but it is a surprisingly long wait for a new edition considering GW aren't dealing with a pandemic or anything right now. I'm guessing that they simply didn't want the codex in the wild before the models, even though they've previewed the models (and leaks would have happened as well)

That first sentence wasn't clear my bad I only meant the Tyranid/SM ones as no new models.

Your post was in reply to someone talking about the rumour that the battleforces will include a bunch of the new models so I thought that you also talked about that when saying SM/Necrons got their boxes in 2020. So I just wanted to point out that those didn't include any of the new models unlike this years boxes are rumoured to do. So not saying they can't get boxes just the the rumoured contents are strange.
Sorry if it wasn't clear

I think they were expecting to fill a few weeks with Epic releases, and their delay has made the big wait more obvious.

Is…is that everything all at once?

How novel! And indeed satisfying.

But as I said earlier in the thread? Just The Codex For Me For Now. Thanks to two Nids halves of the new big set, I need to figure out how good what I have right now is, and see what gaps I want to fill.

So some things from the text of the article:

WarCom wrote:There are datasheets for 47 Tyranid units...
That is exactly what's in the Index now, plus the Neurolictor, Bigger Batman the Norn Emissary and Other Bigger Batman the Norn Assimilator. So Neurothrope remains a Squad Sergeant, the Trygon Prime and Thornbacks remain missing, and the new Tyranid Prime remains the most out of place mini in the entire Codex without a proper unit to go with him.

Also means we keep "Ranged Tyranid Warriors" and "Melee Tyranid Warriors." Yay.

WarCom wrote:The multitudinous foot soldiers of the Tyranid swarm get some love, as the revitalised Termagants first seen in the Leviathan boxed set get a bonus sprue of special weapons. The box also includes a single Ripper Swarm.
Didn't think it'd be a whole new sprue, but thankfully that puts that discussion to bed.

Quite probably, honestly it feels like it was inevitable and as much as I'm not angry at GW, I'm just disappointed they didn't miss the opportunity to miss an opportunity.

But the monkey's paw side of it is that the new Codex has the same cover as the previous one.

You shouldn't be angry at GW. Just be disappointed at the people who bought the cards thinking that this wouldn't happen for the 18th time in a row.

"Nah! This time it'll be different!"

Absolutely wild that the codex cover is 100% identical even down to layout. Re-using art is fine and whatever, but that is literally the exact same as the 9th ed cover.

That definitely won't be confusing.

Fully expecting silly price hikes but would like either a Lictor or the new Hormagants( which were notorious for falling over ).

Already got loads of genestealers on the pile of shame and while the new ones are nice, they're not enough of an improvement to notice.

Not much point in getting the codex when the indices are free and GW goes through editions like toilet paper. Afterall, they only released the 9th edition Tyranid codex last year...

Did GW ever say that the rules would always be free? I was under the impression that they said "The initial batch of rules will be free, but everything in the future (excepting points) will cost money again."

Which, yeah, GW's being money-grubbing... But I don't think they lied about anything here.
