Getting enough Terminators was definitely an issue back in the Space Marine/Titan Legions day too!

(And maybe heavy weapons and assault troopers too? It was definitely a problem with Eldar Aspect Warriors!)

Even when we get no other Power Armour Mark; they could bring anothewr Sprue with more Terminators and more Weapon options for Tactical Support and Heavy Support Squads.

I think I could live with a set which provides 4 bases each of Termies, Heavies and Support. Maybe a bit of Taccies.

Resin primarchs when?
Just a set of all 18, with tiny versions of their scenic bases.

I'd love a box with nothing but specialist Astartes infantry. Just a single box would give so much of the stuff they are stingy with in the main infantry kit would make building any kind of infantry army structure easy to pull off. So you could then really lean into legions which favour one type of specialist detachment over others without breaking the bank

ATM, if I was to make a BA legionnaire army which leaned heavily on the assault detachment aspect, it just isnt feasible without resorting to bitz sellers. I can imagine the same problem with folks who'd like to spam heavy support infantry for their legion flair (I'm sure there are at least a couple legions which would do this, Imp Fists etc)

Whilst some infantry focused sets would be nice I'd rather see them create some additional options - at least for the SA they are missing a bunch of iconic infantry models. Heavy support teams; rough riders; regular (not heavy) scout walkers.

It’s kind of strangling army design in general. Legion Specialisation aside, it’s ruinously expensive to spec into rapid assault, because the necessary infantry are, essentially, 2 for £31.50.

And so, for most of us? Our armies tend to be fairly similar where infantry is concerned.

Oh, if only! Though I can only imagine how hideously expensive they've be for the size of them...

Genuinely amazed that we haven't had at least a couple of Primarchs for the poster boy Legions to date.

I know it won't fly for some here... but it really does work just to be 4 models to a base for the specialists - particularly the terminators and assault marines. Nets you an extra base per box which helps a little.

Eh, as long as the base doesn’t look/feel empty, and I can still see what a given playing piece is at a glance.

Terminators I think you can even get away with as few as three, as they’re quite chunky lads.

This is where the game should have marine and solar support formations. At least that way the Solar infantry box becomes an option - and vice verca.

I think it would be interesting to have special formations where Solar troops can enjoy the better armed Rhino transports, while Marines can get to inaccessible locations when their own air-transports are unavailable.

Both armies have other transport options within their own model ranges without having to dip into each others.

We could easily see things like Gorgons for the SA and air transports for the Marines

Legion-specific boxes that come with their primarch, a special unit or two, and thematic detachments would be nice.

Fluff vise, Rhinos should be available for the Solar Auxilliar.

I hope for Mk2 or Mk4 Marines.

Fluff wise they also have their own sculpt in the Aurox with would be functionally identical at this scale

Gorgons would be amazing (are they a thing in 30K?), but gamewise they would be not much different than Dracosans (perhaps 1 extra wound)...

No, but the CRASSUS ARMOURED ASSAULT TRANSPORT is.

...and Legion Basilisks!

As much as I'd like to see more infantry variation, I'm not sure we'll see it unless it's built into adding some new units that aren't represented as opposed to just selling a fractionally different sculpt at that scale,

I vote that they add any model that can be used for battles set in the 41st millennia.

On the other hand, the old/retro fluff mentioned that the Imperial Guard/Army used to have their own Rhinos and Land Raiders before/during the Heresy. We could always just claim that the Aurox is a vehicle for the Solar Auxilia, whilst the regular Imperial Army had Rhinos?

It's more likely the expand into the Great Crusade...which is doubtful...

The scouring rumor is tied into the rumor that the amazon stuff is gonna be about the scouring. If that ends up true, then the game stuff would be tying into that.

At this point the setting just serves to exclude Xenos from the game. Justifying the existence of Razorbacks or Chimeras or Leman Russ sponsons is a lot less difficult. There are already a bunch of units that were originally (back in the 1990s) specifically stated as being post-heresy developments, like whirlwinds and vindicators and thunderhawks. GW can change the background text as much as they believe is necessary in order to sell models.

I'd love seeing some fork of the setting which depicted the age after HH but before "current" 40k. ATM, us Rogue Trader entuhiasts are sort of homeless, where our marines can be had in HH, but our xenos are left in the main 40k game haggling with Primaris..

Hasn't that basically already been confirmed to be happening? GW already announced that the novels will start to progress into the Scouring and I doubt they'd ignore the opportunity to sell that in tabletop form, since contemporary Space Marines are almost fully Primaris-ized.

The Scouring would be perfect for rereleasing the old 3rd-7th era Marines (like Mk7 in the newer Heresy scale) while also selling the same Xenos they already have on the shelf. It also softens the blow if GW fully retires the "Firstborn" kits out of the mainline 40k codex.

EDIT: Wait, ignore everything I said. I thought this was the 40k thread, not Legions Imperialis.

I doubt GW will do 8mm Xenos any time in the future considering there aren't even dedicated Chaos models for LI (outside of the 4 Dark Mech kits)

Scouring would include Xenos, as that’s the time period 30k starts to become 40K, with the various Xenos species taking advantage of the Imperium’s ravaged state.

The specific rumor was

"[Valrak] has heard that Games Workshop are planning a Scouring game; focus on "updated" Firstborn Space Marine models (Mark VII), Xenos factions, later versions of Heresy characters (Sigismund, Primarch's, etc)."

Which, honestly, doesn't even come across as being Legions because of the characters. Though Legions could also make the jump.

Maybe they might revisit the War Of The Beast? Bet they could come up with some fantastic Ork minis for that, assuming it's not been airbrushed out of history..

War of the Beast is after the scouring itself, so it'd be a while before the branding got to that point. But orks in general along with eldar and maybe some new xenos would be good bets.
