The review embargo has dropped and it is getting pretty good reviews. I hope it is successful and motivates a wave of more original Sci Fi and genre movies not based on 40 year old IPs.

It better have some twists, because the trailer and some of the reviews make it sound like a distressingly standard AI film with 'we are the monsters' as the default lesson (with a bonus woobie and a free pass for Asia).
There's enough emphasis on the backdrops and specific actors that I'm suspicious of the plot.

Can't help but share the sentiment that the trailer makes it look like mankind versus AI conflict by the numbers.

Well, let's put it like this. Who do you think are the heroes in a movie written by Americans? And now that movies are written by AI...
I find stereotyped generalizations based on nationality more vexing than an often repeated plot.
While I have not watched the movie yet what I took away from the trailer was that the villainy was an individual choice rather than determined by the circumstances of a sentience’s creation and that diversity is a strength rather than a weakness.
However, I agree that the trailer does seem to show a bit too much. That said… perhaps that will have been done to subvert expectations? Unlikely but an optimistic possibility.
The aesthetics of the costuming, set dressing, and special effects look good to me.
