Subject: Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom - Ticket Presale Trailer
Well, will this one bomb like the rest of the DCEU?...

Black Manta has just such a lame motivation. Just a straight up pirate murdering every dude he comes across. Challenges and picks a fight with Aquaman. His dad gets killed essentially from a shot his dad fired himself. Dude declares lifelong vengeance against him for basically defending himself. But hey, it’s an emotional thing and emotions usually ain’t logical responses so I get it.
Anyways, first movie was good so I’ve been looking forward to this one.

Black Manta was more of a henchman in the first film rather than an actual villain. There's been no confirmation if Black Manta is the main antagonist of this film or if it's somebody else. As for their being only two Aquaman villains, there's already been one other seen in the DCEU (nom nom nom nom nom ).

IMDb has her listed in the film, but she's listed in the the 'Other Cast' section so it's most likely a small role.

Honestly, I feel like superhero movies have been stuck in a 'next villain up' rut ever since the Burton Batman films. It should really be about the storytelling first, and not checking villain boxes and then figuring out a story later. I see nothing wrong with a multi-picture arc against a particular villain if it makes for a really good story. I'm not sure that AM2 will have a really good story, mind you.

Yeah, some of DC's Golden Age comics could be... weird... at times.

In all fairness that relatively new motivation is infinitely better than his classic motivation of.... not having one?

If that’s a reference to the image I posted… That’s from an issue from last week.
Yes. IMHO it's showing that King Shark (which was introduced in the 90's) would fit in with the sometimes weird Golden Age of DC Comics (hence the Golden Age art style).

I don't think that image was hosted publicly. I can't see it at least.
I have no problem seeing the image

Superdickery was one of the best things I found on the internet when I was in tech class during highschool, it's great how so many those out of context (heck even in context) panels looked when you see it nowadays.
So it's a trailer of a trailer that could be easily misconstrued as being a trailer for the first movie (since that movie was largely forgettable anyway)? Bold move.
Apparently the first film had the lowest opening of the DCEU ($77 million) but went on to be its highest grossing film with $1.1 billion because it had consistent viewers instead of a first week drop off.
I'm guessing Black Manta will play a similar role again and not be the primary antagonist. There will be some bigger threat to the world, underwayer or above, and BM is just there to harass and harry as Aquaman is dealing with that.

Amidst the mists and coldest frosts he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.
We'll hopefully know who the main antagonist is when the trailer drops Thursday.
