It does feel like Atlantic RRP has gone up by like 30% in the few years since their "we're absorbing the rising cost of shipping" post.
And Mantic asking GW prices for happy meal sculpts is indeed... tragic.
I like having an alternative sculpt to GW, as I've moved on from large scale warhammer 40k and gone back to playing games set in 2000ad universes. The Mauler has a slightly less warhammer identifying profile, so its nice to have some alternatives out there in hard plastic.
I suspect that GW will also see prices rises over the next year where as the Mauler will still be same cost this time next year.
I just wish the kits were easier to pick up where I am.
Giants I take it? My question is why do they always have on such raggedy clothes? Are giants bad tailors or only shop at goodwill stores? Plus those feet are way too well groomed and porportional for giants LOL

My bet is that these are giants for their Classic Fantasy Battles so they needed something that stands out at 10mm.
The News and Rumors section is all about surprises. I'd certainly hate it if we got 100 posts saying "I know something you don't know..." - malfred

An army of giants should be quick to build and paint... yet another army for CFB, I have 5 already!!!
But still waiting for the rules. It says playtesting stage, I hope it doesn't get delayed another year.

From the looks of things those epic scale giants are going to be about the same size as the normal 28mm figures.
i find it interesting that the giant design is going for the "super long limbed beanpole" design, when very large creatures usually tend to end up with shorter, more robust limbs and thick bodies in order to handle the stresses and biological limits of gravity. i know the beanpole look is common in Warhammer/AoS and Kings of War, but i personally think that a more robust giant would have been pretty cool.

Yeah I prefer the Incredible Hulk style proportions over NBA player, they both work but I've read too much about the inverse square law (as height grows linearly, weight grows geometrically) that I feel like the need big tree trunk legs to walk.

We've launched a Facebook group as a central repository for everything having to do with the Victorian Science Fiction (VSF) game and setting that we are developing for release next year. Come join us if you're on FB and want to follow along: https://www.facebook.com/groups/colonialsuns

I wanted to create an alternate history VSF setting that was also hard science and true to our own history. So in this setting there is no aether, no habitable Mars or Venus or the Moon, no steampunk stuff tacked on.
Yes, but
There have been significant changes geo-politically on Earth since Napoleon and his Old Guard summoned the first "Sky Whale"

I don't quite understand what this setting is going for if there's "no steampunk"? A victorian era setting without the steampunk...is just the victorian era. Steampunk is just a core iconic element in general of doing a sci-fi version of the time period, so it basically feels like a bit of a wasted opportunity to come up with a setting based around then, but then not actually make use of that to have new sci-fi tech and such.
Is this just going to be something like historical British Victorian soldiers vs aliens?

I suppose it can be powered by something other than steam tho? Maybe Elerium-115, found only on the most distant worlds.
Anyway we don't have silly magical things like sailing the aether, instead we have hard science sky whales.
No habitable Mars, but habitable exoplanets with spear-wielding lizardish natives, so probably desert planets, but also with crab people, so maybe they used to be rich in water. Maybe even had canals!
Sounds like Atlantic wants to tell functionally exact same stories VSF usually tells, just with different names for the tropes. John Carter of Sram.

Showing my age now but I've always liked the Gothic Empire from 2000AD's Nemeses The Warlock.
For those who don't know, it features an alien race who mimic the Victorian era after being influenced/ inspired/ corrupted * (*delete as applicable) following interception of early radio communications.
Bryan Talbot's earthy art after Kev o'Neill's weirdness captured them perfectly.
Legitimately signed up to ask- has anyone had any luck getting a Damned box through a retailer other than WGA? I put mine in with my local at the start of June and they still haven't received the boxes, nor have they gotten a clear word -from- WGA about where they are. Mate of mine hasn't gotten his (from a different retailer) either. I don't even know if anyone in the UK has gotten any yet.

Not just British. Many nations have raced to find further signaling posts and journey into the stars. Tony has been dropping lore on the new facebook group regularly since its foundation - there is plenty of things that make colonial suns unique. Not least of which is Napoleon still alive and active.

Have them reach out to their sales representative. If they don't get a response, ping this account with the shop name and we will look into the matter.
I really like those bases. Enough texture to look good painted, simple enough that there's room for the model and for the base to be oriented different ways, and a decent base to work up from if you want to add extra detail.

But if it does have them using new weapons, tech and such then it is still Steampunk.
Would it be steampunk if, for example, it was all plausible real technology except they discover and use, say Cavorite, to power space flight? Because that turns from more fantasy steam punk to a quite interesting more hard sci-fi setting "how could you do X things with old technology if Y gap was bridged?"

It's fine to say something like "It's a setting where various 1800s nations journeyed into the stars" but when you also say "no steampunk", if it then turns out those various countries are represented by having miniatures/designs that are basically their real-world historical counterparts with just 1800s-earth technology...I think that would be somewhat strange and perhaps slightly disappointing. The steampunk side of things with all the fantastical new technology is a pretty iconic element for Victorian sci-fi settings.

Think of it more as victorian stargate than traditional cavorite and aether VSF

I was just hoping that a VSF game would have actual VSF designs and miniatures that make use of that setting on both sides, rather than them being typical historical miniatures but "oh they're in space actually" and they just happen to be fighting aliens or whatever, where the VSF theming is mainly just there in the lore and the non-human elements.
