Since no one else is commenting on Colbert’s LOTR story…sounds bad. Nothing about that description sounds like a good idea.

People really need to stop trying to make a Tolkien Cinematic Universe a thing, you got 3 really good and 3 decently entertaining (IMO) movies out of it, let it go.

I’m again going to respectfully enjoy my position as a fan of the movies with no particular interest in reading the books.
Whilst I respect the opinions of those more invested in the books? Said position does allow me to simply enjoy a show or film based in the setting entirely on its own merits. Which is a blessing of a sort.

Well, it doesn’t make me want to vomit out my eyes? And depending on what the secret is, there could be an interesting story.
I still reserve the right to enjoy whatever vomits up on its own peculiar merits, just as I can, more or less, respect those who choose right now to no watch it ever.

I disagree. If they get the original cast back, unleashing Dominic Monaghan and Billy Boyd on an unsuspecting Middle Earth, attempting (and likely failing in the most chaotic way imaginable) to retrace a journey they barely understood that they took several decades ago will be great fun. Those two are delightful together. I have no idea how they will justify getting Sam to leave again, unless his daughter runs away with those two scalawags and he has to chase them to see that she's safe.

English doesn't borrow from other languages. It follows them down dark alleyways and mugs them for loose grammar.

Honestly, that sounds great. That's the sort of non-canon nonsense I can get behind.
There is going to have to be some hardcore de-aging going on if it’s the original pair. Pippin was an adolescent in LOTR, and if it’s just 14 years later, he is still a young adult for hobbits, while Billy Boyd is now pushing 60. After the hot mess that was Rings of Power, I don’t have high hopes.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!
I have full respect for Colbert's ridiculous command of LOTR lore, and I can't say that I categorically hate new LOTR fiction because of how much I enjoyed playing Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War. Alastair Duncan's performance as Celebrimbor in those games was particularly outstanding. But my track record with Tolkien movie adaptations hasn't been optimal - the only one I've ever really loved was the Rankin / Bass Hobbit of my childhood. (Brother Theodore will always be my Gollum of choice. What a wonderfully weird, unique, and expressive voice that man had.)
I found Jackson's films to be poor adaptations of the books, but I'm not a zealot and have no issue with others enjoying them.

I will never be satisfied until Tom Bombadil and Goldberry grace the Silver screen!

So…Goldberry…. I’m not the only one wondering if that’s some kind of lovers’ nickname along the lines of a “Rosebud”, right? That kind of thing occurs to other people, yeah?
The main issue with doing anything more with LotR is the trilogy resolves centuries of deep seeded lore and conflict and its really hard to inject anything new into the setting without it coming across as contrived. There is definitely potential in something more Hobbit (book) ish, where characters catch up on the state of the world and deal with low scale local conflicts.
I was suprised to see a Micahle Jackson bio-pic coming out, but I was even more surprised to see it was going to be directed by ..... Antoine Fuqua, I will petty much watch athing he directs at least once..... but....... I don't know......

JRR Tolkien tried to write a sequel once. He stopped and said it would ruin the Trilogy.
But what did he know? Peter Jackson edited out the best parts of the RotK... maybe they'll go back and put them back in.

Looks like this could be an interesting Western...
'It is a source of constant consternation that my opponents cannot correlate their innate inferiority with their inevitable defeat. It would seem that stupidity is as eternal as war.'

Sounds like it would make a good double feature with John Hamm's new movie...

I still cannot and will not encourage the career of a self obsessed, low rent, essentially talentless possible Wrong ‘Un.
The sort of Wrong ‘Un that might well only survive a stairwell nonce bashing quadraspazzed on a live glug.
Apart from that time An Actual Proper Talent Actor got the enviable task of offing him with a big axe to an 80’s soundtrack sort of actor that’s only tainted every single film he’s ever been in.

Dallas Buyers Club was an excellent film with Leto. I suggest you watch it.
All actors have been in bad films. Do we say, Ill never watch Angelina Jolie bexause of Cyborg² or Jon Voight for Anaconda? Or Colin Ferrel for Alexander? Shall we say Matt Smith was trash as Doctor Who because all of his movies suck? (See: Terminator: Gensisysessius and Morbius)
Oh... do we have thread for upcoming TV Shows so I can rant about the new X-Files reboot?

First things first? Don’t you ever, ever slag of Matt Smith’s Doctor. Ever.
As for Captain Alleged Sex Pest? I will not watch Dallas Buyers Club. I will instead judge him by all the other movies his malign presence has ruined. Crap Joker. Crap Tronalike. Crap Morbius. ]
Even his band are crap.
He’s like a male version of Jennifer Lopez, where apparently being “maybe alright I guess if we don’t count those with actual talent in a given field” just about average in two or three fields of abject incompetence somehow makes you Really Good At Everything Ever”.
Eff Leto. Eff him right in his low rent useless ear.
