Being "chaos" doesn't give leeway as to why you'd have guys dressed in heavy furs and leathers mixing with more conan-esque bare chested, arms and legs etc. Looks weird.

And the new marauders are still extremely expensive for only ten unique bodies.

Based on the pricing GW is using for their old world units, 20 marauders will cost 54.50pounds (unless they decided to sell them in boxes of 30 like gors), while the darkoath marauders box is 35.50 for 10, or 76 for 20. And they're both reusing the same bodies twice over, so that's a wash.

I have no doubt that plenty of people will avoid the WFB models for this purpose, but I imagine the sheer price difference will tip many over - you have to spend 40% more than the WFB marauders to get the same number of darkoath. Back in my student days this is exactly the kind of saving I would be looking for when deciding on what to get if I'm wanting to play a faction.

When you scale that up to a full army, 100 darkoath marauders sets you back 355 pounds, compared to 272.50 pounds for the WFB marauders. That's ignoring trying to get better savings with the battalion and reinforcement boxes etc. The darkoath box gets you 26 models for 91 pounds compared to the current battalion box for WFB at 115 pounds for 40 marauders and 10 horsemen - you're doubling your model count for an additional 24 pounds! And that's the discount box for the Darkoath...

If I were building an AoS army, I'd only be using the more unique centre piece models or unit entries that have no comparable equivalent in WFB, otherwise all those troops would be the cheapest models I could get away with.

I think the christmas boxes are not really worth it regarding price, if you cannot get them at a store with 20% off.
Because the GW internal price of 200 Euro is almost as much as you would pay from a 20% FLGS for all the items individually.

So why even bother?

And there's also always the fact that usually there's SOMETHING in the box you weren't as keen on, whereas buying the kits you want from a discounter lets you get exactly what you want.

Of course, sometimes the box has the exact combo you were looking for and then it's still a decent deal, but that's also relative because of how extremely expensive GW kits are.

Yeah I just checked for the highest discounted box Soulblight Gravelords.

Soulblight Box 200 Euro
Individual purchase 228 Euro

That's not good enough imho.

And yet many people still buy from their local GW store or the GW webstore (though that has reduced since the new website - I also think it doesn't help that the actual link for the store from their community site is pretty much "hidden" behind a symbol in the top left which if you don't know its there to click you wouldn't click it)

I did just say it is not a good deal if you are calculating it. Obviously people will also buy whatever they want wherever they want.

I think it's region based more than anything. The Soulblight one is a straight £90 off retail, so the bloodknights free essentially. Plus the extra 20% from most retailers, and i'd say the discount is worth it.

Whether GW is worth the initial price of course is a another discussion.

Well it was a pretty fething amazing deal in in Oz. It breaks down thus.

The box here costs $420 from GW.
Prince Vhordrai = $330
Blood Knights = $125
Giant Bats = $103

So individually the contents are an eye watering $683AUD. So even purchasing from GW direct, already you've saved the price of both sets of Blood Knights.
If you do the sensible thing and buy it from an online reseller, that brings the box set down to just shy of a marginally more palatable $330, which incidentally is the price of Vhordrai by himself. You'd be fething mad not to try and get your hands on it here.

I don't think they where talking about the box being worth it if you get it at a discount. Its the box at full price vs the contents at a discount. Though the 228€ doesn't seem right as that would be a 28% discount?

For Oz the comparison would be the full $420 for the box vs the 20% discounted contents at $546,4.
Which is obviously still a big discount but this is also the best box of this batch.

Looking at the Krieg box which is the worst one its $420 vs the individual contents only being $559 without a discount and $447,2 with the 20% discount in Oz.
So if you can't get the battleforce at a discount its only $27,2 less or a 7% disscount then buying the contents seperatly and thats assuming you want everything from that box and don't use other ways to get stuff cheaper like their Combat Patrol

Yes you are right Martrindur.
The 28% discount might still be correct. I used some german sites to check it.

One is netgames.de which often give big discounts on stuff. They don't have everything though.
The other being Fantasywelt with a regular 20% off.

The breaking point for me is the contents because the big boxes gives you one unit "free". If theres something that you dont like there, then its better off getting all separate and with discounts.
Also not sure about decals on the 40k ones since crux terminatos had one big sheet... but if you got the term boxes individually you would get probably 3 smaller ones?

For those interested, the TGA rumor thread has possibly the most potato of all potato cam pics of Deathmaster Crixxit of the Skaven and some sort of tiger that comes with a new Cities of Sigmar special hero, named Jorvan.

Peak Potato Cam, I gak you not.

And there looks to be another rumor monger(Reformation), dropping hints of future releases/lore. I hadn’t been on that site in a few weeks, so I’m not sure if he’s new or not. He/she seems pleasant enough and has some accurate info, it seems.

Starts here: https://www.tga.community/forums/topic/22826-the-rumour-thread/?page=7898

Spoiler:
If the rumor from user Reformation on TGA saying that Krethusa’s rebellion against Morathi gets stamped out, that’ll be the death of one of the cooler AoS lore developments in recent years. I guess it’ll depend on how well that plot hook is written to judge whether it was wasted or not .

Ohhh that's neat. That must be genuine potatoe cam rather than the GW special. But exciting. Cog fort finally please? Also nice too know that ascended Khul is coming sometime in the future.

Those certainly are not pictures that are worth 1000 words. If anything, most descriptions exceeding 2 words probably give you more information than they do.
Impressive, really.

It's definitely deliberate. The blurry pictures are just there to back up the rumours.

Do you not recall the videos GW did showing off their professional leaks department and the Potato Camera?

They showed it off years ago when the slaanesh fiend kit leaked to the net

It's most likely someone at the printers, taking photos of materials that may be marked in some way. The ultrasound quality is presumably meant to obfuscate those marks.

Well, by no means am I confessing to any form of corporate espionage/breaking + entering, but a clipboard and a reflective vest can get you pretty much anywhere. And hypothetically, if I were to find my way into a toy companies production room, they are on the lookout for modern technology. And that's where my grandfathers WW2 era Lucky Strike cigarette camera comes into play. Its not the best result, but its a result.

Modern era spy equipment can be pretty expensive.

Again, all hypothetical.
