Can we get a MTO of the classic Realm of Battle board set? Even at inflation prices it would be cheaper than trying to buy a secondhand one

I'm not convinced that's true in today's prices, especially when shipping is a factor. Plus, the ROB boards are awful to play on.

You definitely need to put texture in your paint or your figures will slide around.

Personally, I prefer mats. They have a wide variety of designs and are much easier to store and transport.

The fortified manor was on my bucket list back in the day... but for the price they will charge I just don't think it holds up any more.

I will probably be able to buy like 4 large 3d printed buildings with actual playable interiors and walls with realistic thickness for what gw will want for that set....

And terrain too I guess.

I'll happily take about 5 of each of the sets (If they can keep them in stock that is)

I over paid for an extra set of fences & an extra tower a while back. I wanted the spare bits in case they didn't come back and wanted to one day finally finish my coach house (as per the one seen in white dwarf) and was worried if they didn't come back, we'd see them sky rocket and become even rarer. I'm not too worried, as I knew at the time they would likely to come back but wanted the insurance of being able to finish what is essentially a centre piece model.

Yes, I could make the hills myself for a lot cheaper and more flexible, but I'm usually too tired after work, not very good at making terrain and would rather buy it, and they fit in & match my existing collecting. They also work for almost every game I play and so they are worth the small investment.

I'm a little surprised they didn't start with a battlemat, hills & the trees set. I would have thought the empire buildings would have been better released along side empire. Seems like a strange order to release things in, but as a hoarder, I'm pleased to see these come sooner than later as I can stash these away until we see what they actually have planned for the empire as whole later on.

Hills are also pretty hard wearing.

Sure even when painted the lower slope is too slippery for most models. But a bit of flock or static grass should provide enough extra grip. You just need to revisit and reseed it every now and again.

Lol what does that even mean? Larger FLGS only?

They mean certain larger GW stores as well as FLGS' that order them.

Can't speak for people excited for them, but I wouldn't buy those hills. My local store used to have a couple of them and the sloped sides were slippery and no good for model placement. I've never been a fan of that feature. There are far more practical shapes for hills.

If you texture and flock the sides they aren't so slippery.

USD price list from TGA/Reddit

Hills and Arcane Ruins not listed so probably direct only. Fortified Manor is the way to go at that price if you want a Tower and Chapel.

Walls and Fences used to be €19.50 last time I ordered them in 2019.

$118 = £74, €93
$52 = £31.50, €41
$35 = £20.50, €26
$70 = £44, €55

So not... obscenely hiked? Of course back when the Manor was first in print you could get it half off with free intl. shipping on eBay on a good day, so it's kiiinda going from 40€ from a discounter to 80€ from a discounter.

So I never realized that the "sigmarite chapel" is a chapel. In my mind it was always a cottage or a house. Was gonna buy a bunch to make a small village but now I'm less sure.

You could always make a small ''holy'' village

IIRC, you can leave off some of the holy emblems from the Chapel. You can see it without the statues as part of the Manor.

Thrilled with the return of these kits. Also pleasantly surprised with the pricetags, which for GW products is a once in a blue moon event... so there's also that.

Sincerely hope we see Skullvane Manse and Garden of Morr to round things out (along with others I've probably forgotten about) at some point in the not too distant future as well.

The tower with the observatory always tempted me, can't remember which Olde Englishe name it had, Witchfate Torr maybe?

The fortified mansion may follow me home one day.

Skullvane Manse

Witchfate Tor is the massive round one with fully detailed floors.

Agree to disagree. Keep to your immersion breaking neoprene mats, some of us enjoy our 3D battlefields a little more 3D

I think the Garden of Morr is unlikely as that was doubled up as the Sigmarite Mausoleum, but who knows

Skullvane Manse would be cool though, although i fear that this is terrain week for ToW and we won't see any more for a good long while

There was Deathknell Watch that was that hexagonal tower, which outside some giant skulls outside on one level, was pretty much as vanilla as you could get for Fantasy.

You had Witchfate Tor that was the massive 3 story tower. Then you also had the sister Dreadstone Blight, a ruined version of sort of that tower, both compatible together.

And Skullvane Manse of course, that crazy contraption that shouldn't be standing on its own, but it was! And I regret never picking one up to this day If that one is coming back in anyway, I would be glad to take one for sure!

And the leaked price so far seems pretty, reasonable? I still have some pieces here and there, so it's low priority really, but its awesome that people will be able to get a bunch of them for cheap (GW cheap, that is)!

Fantasy armies - Retired (Tomb Kings, Vampires, Empire, Chaos Warriors/Daemons, Dark Elves)

Tyranids army - Ever evolving, but about 10k pts
Custodes - 3,500pts (Fully painted yay!)
Thousand Sons - 4,000 pts
Eldar - 3,000pts
