It must be very disconcerting for his enemies to see an angry axe-wielding ork bouncing along in midair.

Should call his mighty steed Shadowhacks or something

Ok, the big beast is done!

The Monstrous Stryx!

I added a gondolier oar I made from some sprue to the base for a bit of variety

I spent a lot of time on the fur, especially having had to sculpt so much

QUITE a lot of OSL

And a banana (and a bottle) for scale!

I can paint a mini in two weeks right? Why not?
So even if I don't have a whole month, my entry for this month is Be'lakor. I hope I can finish in time.

I'm thinking "Ancients" could be a good topic if it hasn't been done too recently.

Ancients:
Anything old: for example: Elves, mummies, venerable dreadnoughts, dinosaurs, Dante, and most importantly anything that has been in your pile of shame or primed pile for multiple years.

Been doing da werkz harhar, painting the top side of the starweaver freehanding diamond patterns, linework and even a silent shroud symbol I didn't have a transfer for (why no? grr!).

Also did the kitbashed added skulls to make it more spoopy (stop saying spoopy helveine!) (no!)
Will be working on all the guns next (all kitbashed bright lances instead of shuriken cannons eheheheh very thematic, the starweaver already has one actually tucked into the bottom of the craft, so thought to add two. *silent harlequin noises*.)

After that it's basing time, and all the boops and bips and beepboops and the scopes and miniscule detail adds etc.
Don't know yet what to put on the basing but it will ofcourse be very... ..
hmmmmmm..
Spoiler:
SPOOPY

As for "ancient", the idea is good but I would word it differently to look a bit more seasonally attuned, maybe Nevelon can think of something there, I'm personally kindof busy thinking about painting my wall at home, and wether I want to continue my hired plot of land next year and other unrelated things.

I think "Ancient" is a good idea because it can refer to miniature presenting something old, but also to the old model kit or project that you started long ago.

Meanwhile, my Eversor assasin is complete. The oil paints were great, especially after I learned that you can just paint base color with acrylics and shade it with oils. I am happy how it turned out, especially considering that it is my first time with oils for the whole figure. I present:

Lots of nifty models so far. I love the giant Stryx, and the thiq Eversor.

Here's the Scooby Gang, all painted up:

I'm a little meh on the models themselves-- they're kinda 2.5D, with some really unfortunate mold lines. That said, they were dead easy to paint, thanks to the ultra-simple Hanna Barbera color palette.

Now showing various models from the previously adandoned projects!

Painting total as of 3429/2024: 56 plus a Deva King statue
Painting total as of 12/31/2024: 107 plus a set of modular spaceship terrain and two walkers and a quad mech and five giants

Nice options, voted.

Anyway, started with the basing for my spoopyweaver and man was I glad I had a lot of gargant pieces left to make treestumps out of hehehhe
Basecoated it dark cobalt blue and got some really cool dry-moss looking stuff to sprinkle around on it when I get done painting to make it even more samhainny.

Eeeeee!! If only every season was Samhainn.. why do we have other seasons ;(

Last WIP:

Done with the paint. Next step is rockts/tufts (some new ones to try) and flock. Then to pick the 5 I want to enter

And maybe mag the bases for transport, but that’s not paint related or even visable.

The sand horse is great, the whole figure shows the duality of undead pharaohs. Surrounded by gold and treasures they proudly display, they are actually poor because their bodies are made from rotting bones, and they cannot even have a real horse but a fake imitation made from things they found lying around. Very atmospheric miniature.

So this was a really productive month for the undead. I started with a huge amount of spooks, and made it pretty much through all of them. Just the one HQ spook who was a stretch goal anyway. And the month is not over yet.
Here is the pick 5.

But also done this month (not for entry in the vote)
Group:

Reapers:

Chainrasps:

Spirit Hosts:

While not my ‘Nids, nighthaunt paint up pretty quick. This was a nice break from my normal paint queue.

Still have plenty of time, but don’t let the end of month sneak up on you! Keep at it.

My entry;

Harlequin Spoopyweaver!

Roses are wilt, Mirages white..
Silent shroud frightening, without a fight.
Suddenly treelines' bop and cut down..
and all their faces, upside-down frown,
Many a dancer slicing around, and all our losses..
to their account' and all their garment weaved in the wind..
made for this entry' tilt harlequinned.

Spoiler:

a rotational vid (best I could muster considering the tremble to the size): https://sendvid.com/lh5q29ud

*edit: updated a few imges for sharper shots.
p.s. the harlequin statue is made from the parts of the same starweaver box leftovers btw.
