The first film was all I really wanted. Unfortunately, I have friends who went gonzo for the second film for reasons I can’t comprehend, so I’ll probably get dragged to this one, too.
Hopefully it will stand on its own because I remember nothing from the second one.

Was he the guy in the club? I agree that he stole his scenes. Unfortunately his whole character and club schtick became a feature of California Adventure that my friends were obsessed with. It was getting creepy.

Doesn't actually take much explanation... He's a security program designed to safeguard a particular computer system and this movie doesn't take place in that system.

It's just odd that the movie is called Tron.... without the character Tron.

No more odd than 'Invincible: Atom Eve' not being about Invincible, or 'The Witcher: Blood Origin' not being about the Witcher, or any other movie or show where a character becomes the identifier for the franchise.
Tron was never the main character. In the first movie, he was just a MacGuffin. The sequels bear his name because the first movie did, and that's how people identify them.

Since we're stuck with Leto, I'm just going to cross my fingers and hope that, in this particular role, his inability to convincingly imitate a human being is just what's needed.

The soundtrack. Saying this I can do for the light cycles. Umm, that's it.
Looking at the trailer, and the sad inclusion of Leto, this won't be cinema visit for me.
Not my cup of tea, to be honest. Quake was a disappointment on so many levels compared to Doom and the soundtrack is one of those reasons. It has it's fans but I certainly wasn't one of them beyond the technical wizardry of Carmack and Abrash.
But I didn't have a problem with the Tron Ares trailer so maybe it'll be alright on the night.
The first Tron and how they made it was a marvel of film-making! It still looks like nothing else I have seen on screen. No one would duplicate that process.
I also enjoyed Tron 2, but also recall little of it beyond the epic soundtrack and the neon. The characters were..... archetypes at best.
I will wait to catch this on Disney+

Tron 2 is one of those movies that lived up to the original but not the memory of the original. A lot of people I know that responded poorly to the sequel didn't seem to have a clear memory of the original. It was groundbreaking, but definitely not without issues that are more apparent in the sequel.

I wonder if Tron will be in this one.
Anyone else find it odd that the soundtrack is listed as a major reason to watch the movie?

They made a pretty big deal out of Daft Punk doing the soundtrack for the last one so I'm not surprised they are trying to push the soundtrack again.
