I think there are a few possible reasons why this looks lighter in content:
1) They may have got stung at the cost of printing for Cursed City and opted to move away from modular board tiles as it is cheaper?
2) They have been moving towards games being playable on more common table sizes for some time now and a set book size for maps makes that easier.
Model count wise it looks on par with blackstone fortress so in that sense i think its fine.

Odd. Chonks are usually hairless. I believe Chungus is the preferred term for the hirsute variant.

I think they know a lot of hobbyists probably have a copy of Cursed City sat on there shelves, untouched. This feels more aimed at bridging that gap between your regular board games and GW games.
I would be absolutely stunned if this box was under £100. Army sets are usually fewer miniatures than this, plus a book, for £125-£145.

I don't know how it translates back to pounds (other than poorly) but I don't look for Darkwater to cost over $200. When it comes to models per dollar with GW, to quote 'Whose Line Is It Anyway?' everything is made up and the points don't matter. The models cost less than a penny each, your fixed costs don't in any way influence your volume-to-cost chart analysis, you have a degree in how pricing works in a capitalist system if you're anyone deciding a price for GW, and the stock price needs to rise every year. That's what matters.
Over $200 just won't look heavy enough for the price.

I thought that was the game design/balance mantra for 7th edition 40k. It's pulling double duty!

I do see the resemblance. The double braided hair with the antlers is a bold asthetic/fashion choice though on the GW version.

Its a dungeon crawl like Heroquest, but it's setting and implementation differs with each new game.
Blackstone Fortress is a treat for 40K fans, but sadly it's no longer available. If you are lucky enough to chance upon a copy...SNAP IT UP.

I just noticed the rulebook wasn't hardback...
Is that some knockoff book? GW only deals in firm covers.

I assume you've never bought one of their stand along games? They're all softback.

Due to GW's 4-dimensional thinking, there is no other side!

The pox-wretches are a pretty big let down. The whole “covered eyes” aesthetic is way way over played and just makes them look like they aren’t a threat. If I end up getting this I’ll have to drill little eye holes or something.
The rune stones on the cankerborn make them look a bit more like woodelf creatures to me. The heads are nurgly, but the rest doesn’t read that way initially to me.
The pestigors are pretty cool.
The Blight Templars are not served well by the “Batman The Animated Series “ aesthetic with the big wide bodies and the tiny little feet.
The Nurgle heroes are absolutely fantastic.
I like the subdued aesthetic of the good guys( with the exception of the centaur elf). Welcome relief to not have typical Stormcast.
I score it a 65 out of 100.

The witch and the beastmen shaman are by far the stars of this box. Incredible miniature 10/10.. Rest of the nurgle stuff is pretty solid, but yeah, the runestones on the troll-like creatures is a very unfortunate design choice
Pretty much all of the heros are mehhh unfortunately.

I like most of the nurgle stuff, but the prince definitely needs a helmet, I hate GWs stupid grins for newer nurgle minis. The only time they pulled off a proper evil smile was on the old FW GUO.
These will probably become the foundation of my Nurgle Osthmark army.
