If he does mass combat as well as he designs skirmish systems, then this is really good news. He's innovative, I'm even more stoked now.

As is, with 11th edition being announced relatively soon? It's an easy pass.
I suspect there's going to be a lot of noises about this for a month or three, then that'll be it
I dont know, when the 11th ed box drops at £200 goes out of stock immediately and comes with barely any more minis it might be a look in the mirror moment imo.
Once new intercessors drop at £50 a unit or ork boyz at £40+ for 10, it'll be fun.
Note, I don't for a second expect this game to eat GWs margins, but 40k is about to turn a sticker shock corner imo.

Well I have seen what holds for future (not set on stone) and those pretty much include units I like. Of course they do.
But lets see how this goes out and I hope those promises concerning leaders come out fine. Atleast interested to buying some cheaper sets to test paint.

While this intrigues me, my pile of shame is distressingly large. I suspect I just plain missed this in the thread but a couple of questions before I consider laying out the cash:
-have they posted any “how to play” videos?
-are there any figure size comparisons floating around? These look the large end of 32mm; how are they in scale, with say, a Primaris Space Marine model? Like many I have a go to figure agnostic game if these rules “suck” but I don’t need another scale that’s signficantly bigger than all my other figures.
Thanks in advance,

There isn't an official how to play video yet, but Archon is developing one. There are other ones on YouTube like this one though:
Spoiler:
The models are pretty big and chunky, the Terrans are on 32mm bases and have a lot of presence on the base. I'd say they are at least intercessor sized if not even larger.

Apparently there are a number of YouTube and hobby channels that will be covering the game this week as the pre-orders open tomorrow (10th). There are a few examples of minis starting to appear. These are from Minis for War studio.

Official How to Play Video is up and preorders start in 5-6 hours.
I'll add pictures of the product pricing and bundles to the first page of the thread once Archon puts them up on their site. (some of the pricing as changed since the previous livestream)

So the livestream went down about 30 mins in (apparently to a DDoS attack, np doubt by some loser), just after they had made the joke I have posted below about comparative costs of the game.
Both the Archon & game website down for pre-orders at the moment. Gamefound seems to still be working, zi take it they are either used to receiving that volume of traffic or else have better DDoS defences.
Got the 3 Founders starter sets. Kept it really basic with no addons or such. Much as I really do want more (including goliaths and hydralkisks and more) I can't justify spending more
Even with Pay-in-3 on Paypal spreading it out over a few months. Still I'm hopeful that the game will do well; enter regular distribution and in a few months time I can get a bunch more models from retail!

Oh, sorry if that came across as a joke. That was not my intention. Our lawyers advised us not to use official logos or similar materials, so we needed an alternative that would still help people understand the bigger picture.
I guess its a worthwhile comparison as those are popular games and the price is a barrier to entry for some. I liked the concept of 'mineral values' of boxsets so you know how much you are getting for your buck, and ties in well with the setting.

our game group members picked up a couple of founders 2 player sets between us. I wish I would of ordered the Hydralisks just to have a slightly bigger first game w/ my Zergs. but excited to get it in hand.

Its the 'these sets won't be reprinted' that is off putting to me. I don't really want to drop a lot of money all at once on something like this, wait for it to release only to find it was a one and done game that's forgotten about three months down the line. But then waiting a few months to see if it was popular enough to stick around a couple of years, all these big value starter sets are going to be long gone.
I do hope it does well enough that they bring warcraft to the tabletop in the same way. That I'd drop money on without worry as I'd love to have the models to paint, I was never as big as fan as starcraft as I was warcraft. I'd not worry about the game not sticking around, I would just want the models then!
Watching the livestream, the 'sets will not be reprinted' only refers to the specific pre-order deals, available for about the next month, not the models or any games items themselves. I assume all of that stuff will still be available, but just in a different box & different price point.

Yeah, it's quite like GWs "launch-boxes", just without the insane and purposefully hidden pricing of the individual items afterwards .

Even the Zeratul limited edition model comes on sale during major events With scalpers well aware of the model market and also with the fact that not every customer can make it to events or buy instantly, a good many firms do this now with limited models going on just limited sale periods.
But yeah the Founders Editions are just a special box and discount, I think its mostly that they have the named hero in the box that makes them special. The future boxes won't have the named hero.

You mean bring it to the tabletop again. Warcraft had a miniatures game that crashed and burned.

It had a miniatures based board game similar to heroclix right? Not a proper battle game.

Kind of. The new Gundam game uses the same basic rules.
