These are least give the feel of high speed strafing runs, and avoid some of the mechanical issues. We’ll see how it actually plays out.

I think the act of pulling them from the side of the table across the board to where you set them will make it feel better than it reads, particularly if you include sound effects.

Terrifying Doombull

With the Xenos faction packs, the 'Support' role seems like a missed opportunity, especially after SM got a full pile (including LTs)
Votann: none (expected the strategist)
Tau: none (ethereals feel more support from a functional standpoint. I know they are The Leaders, but from a game perspective they're support)
Dark eldar: none (waves at army that needs an update)
Tyranids: none (Probably the one pass I'd give out here, but there's definitely design space)
Orks: new bannernob only (painboyz... aren't, i guess, despite being direct analogues of marine apothecaries).
Eldar: warlocks (makes sense)
Necrons: all crypteks (obvious, and they were already functioning that way in the rules)
Gene cults- four guys that probably make sense, but highlight what the other factions lack- they got their strategy guy, their apothecary guy, morale guy and bodyguard guy, but oddly NOT their banner guy.

Some news on points from WarCom: https://www.warhammer-community.com/en-gb/articles/8dl5ikuv/new40k-world-champions-top-5-changes/
4 – Points Updates
The way points costs work is being updated in two main ways. First, there will be separate point costs for some wargear on units, allowing different weapon options to become viable choices. This change won't be on every unit with wargear, but units like Adepta Sororitas Retributors or Adeptus Mechanicus Ironstrider Ballistari will have a lower base cost, but pay points for their best wargear.*
Second, a new system of point steppers will typically increase the cost of some datasheets on your third unit. Some extremely powerful datasheets, like the Defiler, may have this additional cost if you take a second and third unit. This change will help with internal diversity for armies and encourage players to consider their other available options.
Confirms the rumour that multiple copies of the same datasheet will have a repetition tax.

I hope they are smart enough to not give repetition taxes to a handful of armies with limited unit choices like Votann.

It seems like they're limiting it for stuff that is really over powered if spammed.
Sounds good to me, but the old army list structure could do that by making stuff 0-1 and so on.

GW doesn't want you to buy only 1 Defiler, so that is why they do not do the 0-1. They just recognise that people are fed up with the spam and are trying to rein it in a little.
Same reason special characters are no longer "with opponent permission".

I don't want the game to be 0-1.
I hate the 'highlander' system, it just makes every army a jumbled mess of random units devoid of all theme or cohesiveness.
I don't like everyone spamming the single best unit to the maximum either.
So a system that allows multiples whilst discouraging spam is the optimum sort of system, imo.
I'd also be pretty confident that this is far from a niche opinion.

Yeah. Rules that limit model might be better for the game in some spots, but things that cut into sales are not going to fly with modern GW.
I do prefer soft controls like ramping points vs. hard caps.

As I expected Deathshroud stealth nerfed with their deepstrike staying at 6" making them need a 7 now. But I expected it. Wonder if points changes will refect it though

Whilst I don't think GW would do this, Repitition tax the other way for could encourage players to take more of the battleline stuff. First unit of intercessors at X* points, second unit is less than that.

While in theory this sounds good, in reality some armies have vastly better battleline than others even for the points

As a Custodes player I think this is a great idea. I need cheaper Battleline troops.

War Dogs not being able to be taken with other War Dogs detachments but the current War Dogs detachment not being a War Dog detachment is funny to me. There's not actually a lot of synergy there, but its funny.
