wait wait wait wait... huh..?

My favorite units in the game aren't my favorites because their good, (well maybe a little bit... well, maybe a lot), no, their my favorites because they each have a story, that they grow into as you use them in games, whether mowing down traitor marines like wheat with a scythe, or calmly taking out the marine carrying the last summoning icon in your opponents army before the deamon even gets onto the field, they evoke some kind of ghostly image that goes beyond the paint or the plastic or the metal.

alright enough with all that lets get down to buisy ness

#1 the Vindicare Assasin.

Why do I love this model? Well, partially because of the way that he slings a sniper taller than he is over his shoulder, partly becausee of his low ap sniper, but mostly because he allows YOU to choose which of your enemies models you remove from the board, thats right ladies and gentlemens, The vindicare is the ultimate MC/deamon/hero killer, and my friends absolutely hate him... and me for that. Also the thought of a person being trained practically from birth to be a cold ruthless killer is the kind of story worthy of 200+ episodes of anime

#2 the tech marine

Why do I love this model? Well partially because he looks super cool with his servo harness, partially because he is WAY cooler than doctor octopus could ever be, but mostly because if you play him right you can get 8 yes 8 attacks on the charge. Because according to the FAQ's both the power fists, and his twin linked plasma pistol give him extra attacks. Give him a mastercrafted pair of lightning claws, termi honors, an iron halo,, and a jump pack and you have a model capable of knocking off anything that 'crons, or MEQs can throw at you. Here's how it goes down... you move six inches away, fire your plasmas, and your flamer. then get 6 lightning claw attacks and 2 powerfist attacks. Amazing no? (edit... the te hmarine is no longer bad @$$ )

#2b
In light of the techmarines lack of coolness thanks to the new codex, I have founda new 2nd favorite model when leafing through old dexes at my FGLS. This little gem is the progeny of the Harlequins codex and is the ultimate monstrous creature killer. Starting at 90 points, the Solitare becomes god at 130 when he gets 12 WS8 Power weapon attacks that wound on a 2+ and insta-kill on a 6 to wound. The downside is his normal eldar fragility, and the fact that he gets no armor save in CC... But when you get 12 attacks on the charge... youu don't care a whole lot about that stuff.

#3 Raptors

Why do I love this model? Well, partly because they all love screaming almost as much as I do, partly because they can get 3 special weapons including meltas, but mostly because, if you give them furious charge, and infiltrate( why infiltrate? CAUSE I LIKE THAT SKILL THAT'S WHY!!!!) you can get a unit of charging raptors who get the bonus of furious charge over and over again due to hit and run. sure the model is uber expensive point wise, but you have a really fun model to kill stuff with.

So what are your top three or 1 or 2 or more? why are they your favorites?

why am I writing all this? cause I'm bored and my mouth tastes like hydrogen peroxide and I have no idea why!

Banshees, because in the grim darkness of the 41st millenium, there are only huge-breasted, perfectly formed women with pointy ears that take your SM masculine imagery and turn it into confetti!!

But seriously, my banshee unit [you have to check my album to get an idea of what this actually means] has performed untold acts of glory. ALWAYS striking first, coupled with ignoring all armour saves has always been their great asset, and now with Doom you can really make them turn your opponent green with envy. Top in my books are:
1) 8 banshees taking out no less than 3 tactical squads in 2 game turns, then not even being shot to death.
2) 3+exarch taking a carnifex and remnants of a genestealer squad on the charge, and miraculously killing them all before they were allowed to strike. hah.
3) [in the same nidz game] the same 4 models taking out 2 tyrant guards and half a tyrant's wounds in one charge. Is that even possible? lol

These days I run a seer council for competitive games, but the Banshees are by far my favourite unit for local games/tournies

Hands down- Ratlings. These poor little hobbits are the most unfortunate little guys. A true underdog, and amazingly funny, because they are so out of place, and deceptively effective. What's that? your Nurgle termies just lost 2 men? to hobbits with sniper rifles?

I think my favorite is the Farseer. I really like the idea of an "advisor" style general for an army. A leader who leads from the back of the army and who's power lies in increasing the effectiveness of other units.

I also have a soft spot for quins. Nothing like killer clowns from outer space. That and I can't think of a more fun model to paint than a quin.

ork shokk attak gunz - what else (apart from chaos) could come up with a weapon that could potentially allow a deamon to enter the material realm, also the projection of warp-crazde snotlings is a bonus (one of our house rules replaces one of the rolls on the tale with 'put a choas spawn in base contact with target - counts as charging' then will move toward and assault nearest unit if it survives'

They're the tactical equivalent of an allenkey. If they were a TV character, they'd be MacGuyver. MEQs? Pop! GEQs? 4 attacks bitches! Vehicles? Smack! MCs? Kerrunch!
Now with 29 6 point albative wounds! And they look dead cool.

For fantasy it's the Warboss with his Battleaxe of the Last Waaagh in his unit of 24 big uns with two choppas and a Waagh banner. It charges you from up to 20 inches away and beats the snot out of you. It's the greatest hammer ever!

For LOTR it's got to be the humble moria goblin. Sure, he's pants, but boy is he cheap! Throw him and enough of his buddies at something back up by dirt cheap heroes for the might, and he's gonna put the smack down on something! (Dang, now I wanna play LOTR)

Trolls, it's gotta be the Dire Troll Mauler. Never leave home without it. Great model, great stats, great animus. And it EATS people!

For cygnar, the humble trencher gets my vote. Dedicated, not bad at shooting or melee, and I love the models.

In necromunda it's my longstanding enforcer Heavy Bertram "Dead Eye" Cooksey. Because he's the only original gang member left after a series of unfortunate run ins with a much more powerful spyrer gang. He's nails now!

For BFG it's the kill kroozer, if only because I once used a crippled kroozer to kill a hive ship in a head on collision.

Grot mobs. Perpetually underestimated, they always were my favorite unit as they always brought the most laughs during any given game. Whether they serve as cannon fodder, a distraction, or flat out get ignored, they're always a hoot. Years ago during a game at my FLGS, my trusty gretchin managed to somehow kill a Termi. I immediately bought a blister just to add a helmet trophy to the lucky git's base.

Entirely too much fun. Anybody that says grots are a waste simply doesn't play them properly!

Death company- Marines who have gone bezerk and want to kill until they die.

Dwarf Slayers- Will go after the biggest, baddest enemy and desperately to fight as hard as he can to kill it. The longer they last, more experienced they become, the better the fighter and the more magical the weapon = complete loser at being a slayer as their whole purpose is to DIE fighting.
A paradox that only a dwarf could come up with.
And they always turn up in a pair of pants and maybe a pair of shoes.
