Hello all!

I'm Ken aka Gailbraithe. I'm new. Well, new to Dakka Dakka. I've been here on Earth for a few decades. I'm a lousy wargamer and a pretty terrific miniatures painter/collector. I do a much better job of assembling armies than I do of actually finding time to play them. For example, I have a Cygnar army, a Cryx army, a Legion of Everblight horde, and a Skorne horde...but I've played one game of Warmachine in my life, and have never actually played Hordes (unless you count solo games). Like I said, I'm a lousy wargamer.

As you might guess, I like Warmachine and Hordes quite a bit. Lovely minis. Currently I'm collecting Spinespur miniatures, and unlike Warmachine I've actually managed to get in four games of 'spur so far. And I've only been collecting them since January! My non-wargamer friends expressed far more interest in 'spur than Warmachine, so that's made it easier to actually play.

I'm not a big fan of Games Workshop. Hope that's okay. I used to love them, but they have a business model that seems highly dependent on cancelling and failing to support every game they put out that I actually like. Mordheim? Small urban skirmish game that can be played right out of the box and has almost infinite replay ability? Awesome. But it doesn't drive sales, so it got canceled. Then there was Necromunda. Sweet lord I loved that game. So they canceled it. Jerks. Since I tend to have to assemble a minimum of two full armies to play any wargame a game like 40K is right out. My pocketbook can't sustain it! The first wargame I ever collected and played was Space Marine/Titan Whatever. The 6mm version of 40k. You better believe they canceled that one.

I have a blog (see sig for link). It's about miniatures. I have a paint service, and the blog is an ad for that, but mostly its just galleries of my painted models and demos on terrain construction. It's very new, so there's only a dozen or so posts, but if you want to follow along as I build a Scrapyards terrain board for Spinespur, I'm documenting every step of the process.

You'll probably see me around in the terrain and painting subforums. I tend to not get involved in discussions of the games themselves, mostly because I suck at them and the grognards intimidate me with their vast knowledge of game minutia.

Mordheim and Necromunda aren't dead. They're just Specialist Games now. That seems a shame but I actually prefer it that way since GW doesn't continuously tinker (i.e. spoil) those games like it does with WHFB and WH40K. They've just about ruined the fantasy game but may have made the 40K game better. It just needs a good skirmish version to suck in all of the great converters/painters/collectors that will never assemble a massed homogenous army.

Hey , welcome its okay about the whole Gw thing. I do agree they are more money driven then ever lately. Its all about the new merchandice . But they still make soem of the coolest fluff and miniatures .
