Hey guys!
I am some german IG-fanatic relying (against the "traditional" style) on tallarn strategy with some tricky and hopefully sophisticated tank warfare.
I played my first games (and tournaments, I actually started with the game going to tournaments) back in the last days of the 3rd edition using my brothers guys. Then I conscripted my first army at the start of the fourth edition. It was (against the tradition this time) an IG army based on mechanized elite infantry. My first plan was an IG without heavy tanks (I liked the idea of a light cavalry for desert warfare). It didnt seem to work, so I put in some russes. I tried out a few doctrine variants and soon the 5th edition came and after that the new codex, which destroyed my storm troopers based regiment. But I discovered the penal legion as the most sexy unit for my regiment fluff and put them to the play test and they passed it.
I had to reduce the stormtroopers to one squad and built my 10th Keldonia around penal legions, veterans and stormtroopers.
I think I will introduce my army here soon with tactics, fluff and spirit^^. Maybe you guys can tell me where to do that, because I am new to that thing here

I've never played Imperial Guard, you make it sound fun to collect, and like there are many ways to configure it. Are the Penal Legions back? I remember them with the human bombs and Imperial Beastmen a million years ago, ha ha!
