I somehow managed to miss the very first sub forum of the entire forum section because I was too busy trying to get help with a mission in Soulstorm.

So, a bit belatedly, an introduction:

I got into 40K kind of sideways, having seen Dawn of Awesome and some of the other remixes of Brother-Captain Boreale to the point that I figured I'd have to play the game that came from, as well as reading the Lexicanum and learning what exactly went on in the grim darkness of the future. I suppose it's safe to say that the whole SPEHSS MAHREENS meme finally caught my attention, despite years of having seen GW stuff in various comic book stores and the odd gaming store. I'd also have to give credit to the good people at TVTropes for their entry on, appropriately, More Dakka. Apparently, you can't ever have enuff. Ahem.

So to recap: My wargaming experience consists of Close Combat and some TalonSoft releases, so I'll probably never be able to afford an army, much less paint it or do anything useful with it, but hopefully that'll change some day. I'm glad to have found this particular forum and perhaps I'll provide comic value of saying "I sent my default squad of soldiers against X; they all died" while the veterans howl with laughter.

I'm currently having a blast with Soulstorm, 'cause you've got to love a faction that'll quip, "Praise the Emperor and pass the ammunition. For what one doesn't cure, the other will."

Soulstorm has one thing that nobody else does, and that's the Sisters of Battle, which seems to have been the one army that caught my eye. I did some poking around the GW website earlier and I might be able to consider a very cheap Sisters army, which would probably consist of a lot of generic Sisters in their striking new monotone livery. We'll see!
