Hey guys, I wanted to introduce myself to the forum. I am new to 40k, and plan to buy an Orkz army to start playing with the large number of players who frequent the gamer themed tavern I work at here in the greater Seattle area.

Though I am new to 40k, I feel I have a pretty good theoretical grasp on the Orkz codex and have a number of ideas about how I might run my army. Was thinking of buying something like this:

2 Battlewagons
2 Trukkz
22 Boyz + 2 nobz
1 Ghazkull Thrakka(sp?)
1 Big Mek for the forcefield
15 Burnaz
10 Nobz
10 Lootas

This is a little over 1500 pts, so I would need to trim it out, but my only concern is I dont have any kind of Fast Attack to start the game out with. I was thinking of juggling points (maybe by cutting the nobs or downgrading Ghaz into a standard boss?) to try to work in some Stormboyz, or maybe attaching Ghaz to a Kommando squad with Snik?
Anybody have any ideas or comments on an army like this?

Wow, nice start to your army! And let me be the first to welcome you to the Dak! Its a shame I dont live in Seattle anymore, I would love to drop by this 'gamer themed' tavern you talk about -- though I will be up there this coming June. I look foward to seeing your posts around and some pics of your orc army.

4250 points of Blood Angels goodness, sweet and silky W12-L6-D4
1000 points of Teil-Shan (my own scheme) Eldar Craftworld in progress
800 points of unassembled Urban themed Imperial Guard
650 points of my do-it-yourself Tempest Guard
675 points of Commoraghs finest!

Lord Helmet - "I bet she gives great helmet."

Definitely swing by in June! www.afktavern.com is the website if you want to look at it.
first drink is on me.

just add more boys

That is actually something I was thinking. Orc Boyz seem pretty cost efficient troops when comparing them against troops in these other codexes I most certainly did not download from illicit sources.

My wife plays Orks. Always fun to see more Xenos players getting into the game.
