Hey everyone, I am very new to Warhammer and relatively new to the whole Forum/Thread thing but I use this site heaps so thought I should join. I currently have a small HE army (Island Of Blood) and had my first 1500point game a day ago and got smoked by my buddy's Skaven....DOH. He had a plague claw catapult and got freakin direct hits every time. My sword masters didn't even get to strike a blow. I made a solid come back but it was too little too late....
My solitary bolt thrower was off target everytime I tried to use it, the only things that did any damage were my silver helms and my wizard used Flames Of The Phoenix pretty successfully. His jezzails directed all of their attacks on my Prince Althran on Griffon and pretty soon it was just Prince Althran on foot.....
Anyway at the end of the day i got pretty solidly thrashed....but he's been gaming for years....excuses, excuses....??

Practice makes perfect, you'd be asking a lot to expect a win in your first game, especially against a vetran. You'll get there in the end though

After my last performance I might be a bit embarrassed to put it out there for the general public.....
Just reread the always strikes first rule too, and I now realise that I have an opportunity to get to reroll missed attacks if my initiative is equal or better than my enemy. Talk about ripping myself off....

Hey, I'm also new =P I started with 40k but Fantasy looks like a ton of fun as well. Gotta buy in one game at a time though. lol

Yeah I went down the Fantasy road because I also play a lot of DnD so it was easy to get into. I also got into it first of all just for the minis but my buddy, who also runs our DnD game, has been hounding me for ages. It's hard to find people to game with here as we live in the country.
