I have spent some time reading various posts on this site and decided to register as I really like the site and the users who use it. I am fairly new to Warhammer in general and have only dabbled in it in the past however I have wanted to properly get into to it for some time now. I personally like the Forge World Imperial Guard ranges and would like to start building a fairly large army in the the near future. I currently have my eyes set on the Death Korps of Krieg however I also really like the Elysian Drop Troops. In all honesty, while I like the look of both armies, I prefer the look and overall style of Elysian Drop Troops however I don't think they would really be any good on the table and that has put me off them whereas the Death Korps look like a force to be reckoned with.

I will make it clear now that my hobby skills are limited as is my knowledge of actually playing Warhammer 40000. I know little about Warhammer "tactics" and am not sure how many points certain models are worth, special abilities etc. I'm probably worrying a lot of the more knowledgeable players on these forums by wanting to go straight into a Forge World army. What I will say to those people is that I know how to paint to a good standard (in my opinion at least), I know how I want to paint them and I have a solid general idea of what sort of army I want to go for and how I will use them. I would like my army to be focused mainly on heavy artillery and heavy armour with support from mechanised "elite" infantry.

I'll be self taught and will probably start out by getting all the necessary codexes and thoroughly reading over them before making a choice on what army or what style of army I am going to buy. Then I will learn to proficiently assemble and paint to a high standard by getting some Cadians and practicing on them as well as using spare resin bits to learn how to work with resin.
