I've been wanting to start a 40k army since I was about 16, and 11 years later, here we are.

I finally took the plunge and purchased the Assault on Black Reach box, Space Marines Codex, and the starter paint set and dived into assembly and painting!

Picked Ultramarines for a starter army because I had heard that they are the easiest to get a feel for the game with, but Blood Angels call out to me...

Going to try and troll the forums a bit before I hound you with questions you've probably seen a shabillion times.

If you're in the RTP area of North Carolina, let me know where the good gaming spots are! I've been to All Fun and Games in Apex and all of the players there were really cool and willing to help a noob get started (and save a ton of cash) and would like to know if there are any other spots worth checking out!

Troll may have been a bad choice of words lol. Bad choice of word? Meh.

Been trying to absorb alot of the articles Dakka provides for Space Marine Tactica.

If the articles are any indication... then I'm glad to hear Sternguard are pretty much staples so far as mid-range units go. They look so awesome!

The articles also let me know the only things worth having out of the AoBR box were the tac squad and dread, I was laboring under the illusion that vanilla termies crush everything and that all HQ units are created equal...

Either way, the forums are awesome and I wish I had found this site and hobby years ago, might have saved me a night or two in jail

personally blood angles as a chapter has never appealed to me fluff-wise (blame Twighlight, I cant stand vampires) but their weapons and vehicles are great.

I'm having a hard time nailing down the meaning of fluff. From context clues I'm assuming it means either the aesthetics or lore of the race or subtype.
