Heyo, just an introduction after signing up for an account. I've been wanting to get into 40k lately, and in the mean time, before I get the chance to actually start playing, I figured I'd join a forum, and Dakka Dakka was at the top of the search results, and looks like a nice place. My experience actually playing 40k is nil, but I've played a lot of Battletech, in addition to various pen and paper RPGs. Wargames are just one of many interests. I could go on at length about art, writing (I hope to get published eventually), making chainmail, and my myriad other interests, but I'll keep it at that for the sake of not winding up with this being a list of essays of the merits of different art styles and materials and chainmail weaves.

Though I've never played any 40k I do have some models, a few hundred points each of Orks and Necrons, as I've been looking at the various different armies, and their history and stats and wargear and so on. It's taken a fair bit of consideration to decide on Dark Eldar. Though their units are a little fragile for my taste, their flavor is just too awesome to resist. It was them or Chaos Space Marines, and I finally chose Dark Eldar. I hear they're a little tough to play, but I intend to try anyway. Anywho, that's a sufficient introduction, don't you think? Thanks if you bothered reading it.

Hi, I am brand spanking new too. I haven't played in years, although I am an RPG regular, and I keep collecting and painting in the vain hope that one day I will meet a group of like minded individuals. The problem seems to be that, although children are the future, I have 2 that I have to clothe and feed so I have no desire to spend time with someone elses...

Welcome to Dakka! The Dark Eldar can be seriously fun to play with (and win) if used correctly, some tips are in the codex, plus they have great models too!
