Hi, guys.

I first discovered Warhammer 40,000 as a setting about a year ago. The universe fascinated me and since then I've been seeking out all the information and material I could find on it in the form of books, articles, games and the gorgeous artwork. I've had the chance to read a number of the codices, as well as a number of books from the roleplaying line. While I've never actually played the wargame itself, I've read a lot about it and I'm trying to learn more, and I think this is a good place to do that.

The miniatures and the game they're played with do interest me, and I'd love to be able to play it one day, but I'm not able to financially support it right now, and don't have anyone locally to play with anyway; the closest I've come is playing Dawn of War. The fluff is my main drive, although I'm just as fond of mucking around with the setting and trying different ideas as I am with learning the canon.

For races, while I find something to like in just about all of them, I find myself especially fond of the Battle Sisters, and of the Necrons. Between the two of them, one seems to get to the beating heart of the 40k universe-- insane, supremely bigoted and racist religion and vast, unimaginably ancient forces that kill everything in sight. While they're not a race, per se, I also really like the Imperial battleship designs; I was completely astonished by that painting spread of the Divine Right in Battleship Gothic, and I save pictures of such ships whenever I find them.
