Not where I should be

Thank you everybodypeeps.

While I am waiting for the results, thought I would throw me hat in on Gitsplitta's Mantis warrior comp.
http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/13500/289929.page#7271840

So here we go, unfortunately a live marine, not making a habit of this.

A pile of bits..

And construction begins..

Going for a termie, definately going chainswords and probably probably silly base, thoughts guys and dolls?

I like where you are going with this. Nitpick - the waist join looks a little rough, maybe a little more sanding? I love the crazy shoulder pad. I'm glad someone's doing a termie

Hmm seems like those reactive pads are usually a more of a half-sphere sticking out, but the studs you've done do give a pretty solid, if lower tech, look. I think it's solid.

Now you've got me second guessing myself on tallscalling my own dudes

I like the over the shoulder Chainswords, but could they be a bit more "Mantis" like? Maybe folded up ready to strike?

Really curious at seeing those mods you have pictured assembled to see what you have changed.

Really keen to see this unfold.

I like the green... if you can keep that hue that way it is a nice new take on the mantis theme...

the preying mantis arms are a cool idea... tho I have a slight issue with the working mechanisms for making it convincingly a threat for others rather than towards himself...fighting that way is still very hazardous?... I like the way you used the chaos chainswords... always a cool choice there... but I am wondering wether a pincer like chainsword setup would work better?... just an idea that came to my mind...

Thanks Graven.

So I need your help here, anyone see anything I am missing, these are not quite final shots but very very close.

Suppose I better explain him first. So my thinking was a veteran of many years service, expert in close combat as ammo is getting low, he's a big strong lad, and is even taler than the standard genetic freak, he's had some converted chainswords put on to give a little extra oompf! He grabs you in those fists you are sliced and diced before you know it. I went for a "chitinous" feel to the armour, it's ceramite so it aint going to rust, and he keeps it maintained as you would have to. He carries lots of gear on him, and has lots of pouches to gather "materials" after the battle, to keep his gear up to scratch. He has many battle honours and has even got a nice little relic hanging from his waist.

I have done two different bass at the moment, a battle base, and a decorative base.

The battle base is a standard 40mm. Should be OK for gaming, although you could maybe say a bit tall.

The scenic base tells a bit more of a story, so in this he has just "teleported" in , and well being a terminator I could not really help myself. The stick in the corner is the Homing beacon thingy.

And a close up.

So like I said please could you point out anything I am missing before I finalise these, I just noticed he is a bit wonky on the scenic base, not quite flat footed so going to have to sort that out for a final photo shoot.

Thank you all for looking and your support.

Very nice.....like the little knee pad mantis face, and the teleport base is a great idea.

Only thing I'd say is maybe a touch of metal on the joints for the chainswords - but that's more a personal thing.

Not only have you finished your model, painted the model, and based it... you've built a scenic base to display him on... and I've only just stuck the arms on mine!

Anyway...

Great job on the face, very "veteran" look to him.

Only thing I'm not sure about is the colours of the relic thing. I'm sure you have your reasons, but I'm not getting it?
