Gits - Well thank you.

Vit - Cheers! graffiti, streets, very good

neil - Hmmm, Monkeytroll knows gak. Not the best motto I've heard

Bah, the tiny spacemens, they no need the buildings no more.

Vindaloo earlier?

ldd - Cheers! The Craze

mullet - Thanks. Anything in particular the matter with the graff, or just the general idea?

Not a lot done, mainly due to slicing open the pad of my thumb last night. Makes it tricky to hold things But also spent far too long mulling over new ideas.

Finished off the first support:

Not very happy with the camo'd patch, bit of a rush botch job, I'll angle that so it's not that visible under the pad

Not worth showing the bits on the cookie generator, just a few more highlights. Jut ned to finish that off, touch up the base, add the cable and then powder.

Also played about with one of the ideas for pipes between buildings.

Hanging bits of metal/armour down as makeshift barricades, blocking line of sight. I'm thinking the pipe for this should be slightly shorter, so that the plates start nearer the buildings.

And that's about the size of it....

The weathering on your tube things is most realistic. You have a knack for dirt which I want to appropriate! I tried to emulate your shacks with the lollypop sticks, matches and cocktail sticks but I had trouble cutting the damned things. Not wanting to slice open my precious hands (I need them for work) I am leaving off the shack till I find a sharper knife. Hope your hand heals quickly! We need robots with lasers for all this cutting, it would be safer (unless the robots become self aware and decide to make tiny shacks out of our bones)

And thanks again for the link in your sig!

I love the character on these latest peices, And the hanging bits of metal on the pipe is genius! it looks great!, and by the way, you grafiti is a perfect variation of random, and weathered, and it looks natural (may or may not know someone in the grafiti buisness ) I will definatly be adding these pics to my inspirational terrain folder!

weety - OK we need to organise a mind-meld which results in you gaining my dirt and me gaining your speed
Yes, sharp knife required, although the matches are a perfect size as is
I actually sliced my thumb doing the washing-up rather than any hobby-related accident
Yes, where's our robots? And our personal laser cutters?
And even more importantly, Jetpacks. Where's our fething jetpacks?

Rogue - Thank you, thank you and thank you!
I figured the hanging metal was a more interesting take on barricades. In game terms I think the pipe by itself is low enough to stop most vehicles, which is kind of interesting. At least to me

bigfish - I was thinking that the metal plates had been used by the hive-scum who were there previously, but the idea struck a chord with da boyz I may do some little floor level bits to go with them, to prevent constant foot-sniping
Like the real thing - layer by layer

MrMerlin - Thanks man, and welcome if this is indeed your first time in the monkey-cave.

So it seems that cd/mini-disc bases are absolutely ideal for slipping into cuts across the thumb Not in the least bit fething annoying

However the scenery is coming on great, the walkway simple but effective especially the misshaped corrugated iron, and the pipe with hanging metal items from it, well I thought it was some kind of Ork windz chyme LOL

Gentle brezze blowing and all you can here in the distant is the tuneful sound of CRASH BANG CLANG !!!!! NICE.

ldd - What do you think those red squares are for? Grots like to keep their podiums low

Ork wind chimez Hmm, now there's an interesting idea. There may be something in that

mullet - No worries, thanks for replying. I'm fairly happy with the graff itself, in the sense of random scrawlings rather than art, but not so happy with the actual support itself - it was a bit of a 'play around with different styles' thing, and I felt it needed something added to help detract from that, hence the grafitti. There'll be more to come, some of which will be a bit more b-boy, so hopefully there's better to come

Sometimes the lone dissenting voice is the correct one

Good luck with whatever you have brewing presently, I look forward to seeing it , and potentially any grafitti on it

It's just a big ol' washing line for armour plates is all

Skalk - Thank you man! Well, it might make my table look amazing if I had one. I don't actually play, just somehow managed to get myself stuck on the terrain tip TBH, most of the pieces are in the usual state for my work - not quite finished Don't worry, as they get finished I'll be taking shots of the different 'builds' I can get I wanna show it off

So bit more done on the cookie genny, need to crack on with it after this post to get it done tomorrow.

Mind is going into overdrive with ideas at the moment, drifting off at the slightest provocation - which is oh, so useful when you're looking for a vital part and have to pick up and contemplate designs for 20 or so other parts before reaching what you were after
I almost came back from Tesco's yesterday with no food as I kept seeing things that could be turned into other things

Just about managed to hold it together by giving in to these two

Saw them on the shelf and thought that for less than a tenner each they could probably make something interesting Was quite disappointed with Captain America's Goliath Assault Tank (bet you can't remember that ) when I got it out of the packing, but after cutting a few bits off and playing with it it's grown on me a bit - still not as promising as it first looked, but there's material for a variety of things there.

I had a little play with it but that and Iron Man's Firestrike Assault Jet (Nope, me neither ) are really projects for a rainy day. Oh, wait, that's pretty much any day around here isn't it?

Anyhow, had a package turn up at work today, and I thought I'd share it with you guys. 'Cause I'm nice like that

Well, two packages actually, the first had a few crackle paints I ordered after seeing neil's great work on his terrain. I'll be putting them to the test soon I think.

But the main attraction tonight is that old favourite...Zombies!!!

Scarper pointed me in the direction of the Zombiecide kickstarter a while back and I opted in.

Got my box today.

Let's see what's inside boys and girls...

So we have the game, a t-shirt, a lithograph, 6 dice and the abomination pack.
Ok, better open some of that stuff up, get a smell of new game

A slim paperback rule book, looks ok on a brief flick through. Sorry, didn't get a page count and have packed it all back up, this won't be a proper review just some quick first impressions. It'll also probably be a while before I get to play it (I intend to at least try it before deciding how to hack the mini's up ) No doubt there will be, or already is, some real reviews posted. Also just remembered I never got a 'group shot' of all the stuff unpacked, oh well.

The book contains 10 scenarios/missions to play out - the game is for 1-6 players and supposedly takes around an hour to play. I'll get back to you on that at some distant point in the future...

Opened it back up...28 pages.

Tokens. Cop cars, shambling hordes in a disco, red cross aid points, the exit, golden bullets, blue cross sale, hearing aid recharging points, doorways, Satan and the green cross code....yep, this game seems to have covered all the bases

A stack of cards (seems to be weapons, mods, encounters and some other stuff) and some dice - these ones sans zombie-head and molotov cocktail.

Nine double-sided tiles for the board, each 25x25cm, and six character cards. The reverse of the cards has blanks for creating your own.

The zombies. 8 models (1 fatty, 2 runners, 5 walkers), 4 rows, 2 trays. Some of those are getting chopped up no matter what

With some friends for scale. A few have obvious mould lines, there's some nice detailing, faces are a bit sharper than they look in the pics, but there is a certain 'zombie-softness' to them. I'm betting Scarp's already cut some up in his head for his scavengers

The abomination. Guess he's the big bad

Our heroes:
Doug, the office worker. Phil, the cop. Amy, the goth. Josh, the hoodie. Ned, the bum. Wanda the waitress.
Roller boots and a chainsaw. She has Escher genes baby, I'm telling you

And that's the contents of the game. Looks kinda cool.

OK, let's take a peek inside the abomination pack then.

Some more cards, and some more dice - this time with those heads'n'bombs on And one set is glow-in-the-dark . It doesn't matter if you can't see the zombie heading for you, you'll still be able to see if you wounded him.

Another abomination, and three more heroes.

That'll be Nick, the seat-of-the-pants cop-in-a-vest, El Cholo, the Mexican with machetes, and Dave, the geek with the molotovs

And there was also another trayful of zombies.

Hmm, that's a good way to order zombies I feel, by the trayful

Well, that's a bit of undead fun for you to drool over, I need to go eat, and then invent a time machine to go back to when I started typing this so that I can go paint instead

edited for an inability to count up to eight. And I'm the stock manager? Sheesh.

Vit - You mean I'm the one that got my gak early for a change? That's a nice sensation

Brian - After flicking through the rules it sounds fun. I'm sure I'll get a chance to have a couple of solo plays before a group session. Definite scope for plenty of expansion. I can see me converting up some survivors for a start

weety - Well, what do you know. After glancing at the rules it seems my guesses as to what the tokens represented was off a little No golden bullets either that I could see. Those are cop cars though
With pimpmobiles on the reverse Like a giddy scholgirl I didn't even notice that the tokens were double-sided.

The game has zombies and pimpmobiles. What else do you need to know people?

Baiyuan - What I find interesting is that I'm not trying to build a cool model of a building, I'm trying to build a cool piece of gaming terrain. I like to think how a model could use the terrain, even if the particular rule-set I'm thinking of isn't quite right

So took the cookie genny to work to try and sneak in 20mins of chipping at lunch. Which was okay.

It does seem that transporting terrain needs planning though I had two pieces when I got to work. Bonus!! Oh wait, that's not how this game works is it? It was just one of the supports for the wire, but it did take a smal chunk of paint with it, and that's going to be a pain to cover up, and then finish it for tonight.

Hmm, it's not going to get to the state I wanted, but I'll be back later with whatever I've got.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Ok, pic dump, chatter later

Not quite to the state I wanted, it could do with a couple of washes and some drybrushing in places, and a spot of tidying...but it'll do

graven - Cheers. I think there's going to be some interesting times ahead with the crowd-sourced projects - just so long as there isn't a run of good ones at the same time I've dropped on Dreadball and Dreamforge too so far, and the Bombshell Babes will no doubt be getting some of my hard-earnrd too.
Zombies will be an interesting change of pace - with so many it's going to be minimal conversion and 'quick' paint jobs for sure.

Melting icecaps, torrential storms, zombie apocalypse - I'm covered for it all

Squigsquasher - Will do, but be warned, I take a loooong time over my colouring Welcome aboard, it's a bumpy and confused ride, but you can probably get by without holding on for the moment.

Llamahead - CHeer bud! I have been looking at the fat y and the abomination for 'research' purposes

Not a lot done hobby-wise at the weekend as I was off at a hip-hop festival. All good except for the early shut-downs, luckily there were a few guys who lived close so we just skipped out after a while so we could get pretty decent kips and brekky

However I did pop over my folks to exchange birthday presents with my mum (mine was Wednesday hers was Thursday) and decided to rescue some old terrain whilst I was there.

And some assorted other bits... I'l see what I can do with these, the larger building and the round huts can certainly be used. The walls and ruin are on dodgy cardboard bases so I'l see what can be salvaged there.

And a touch on the zeds

I'm thinking I'll start with a whitish base and a wash for definition, followed with coloured washes for the majority. And I'm playing with the idea of having an item or two per mini done in paint to stand out from the rest - I'm going to use one of the trays for experimenting with the look, but I need something quick to get through the hordes Spend a bit more time on the survivors.

Here for instance I might paint the high heels and the tie a bright red. I started hacking up the base on the male before realising that there was no way I wanted to customise all the bases
I said the first tray was for experimenting didn't I?

Rogue - Just after the kickstarter closed I was kicking myself for pledging as I spotted sedition wars and was thinking that the sci-fi stuff was far better suited to my sensibilities, but now I'm thinking that the zeds make a nice change. The Sam Jackson one has been pulled, looks like there'll be a Clint version taking it's place. Not sure of this, but won't the wave 2 (Clint & Chuck) minis be available to buy when they're released?

adam - Cheers. I suspect you'll be a while waiting for them all to be done - I think that's about twice as many figs as I've finished in my 2 yearss on dakka

neil - They are pretty cool, the zombie versions of the characters should be interesting. I was thinking of building a mall...

vik - They were part of an chaos encampment, used to have very crap thatched roofs and a couple more huts that seem to have been eaten by the garage monster. No great loss, but these'll be okay with a bit of corrugated iron rivetted in place.

weety - I think it's going to be mainly washes, with a few inks and a splash of paint here and there. It needs to be fast to even think about getting through them - I'll spend time on the survivors, and their zombie counterparts, plus the abomination - maybe both if one doesn't become a bit orky

Cheers! It does ring a bell, might go look for it again though.

Hiphopbodyrockbodypopdontstopbebop.

And a few more washes gone down - see it is fast, or maybe that's just the red brush I was using

Veronica and Bob, almost done.

Davey and Trent. Almost done.

Paulie and Sue. Who seems to have put on mismatched stockings. Bit to do.

And no, I doubt they'll all get names. Or at least, they won't keep their names
