They're only a week old, but they are very exciting to me!! My friend is playing 40K with a bunch of us for the first time this saturday so we started drawing up an armylist for him with my old space wolves, and we decided it would be good to deep strike a terminator squad. So I suggested that he Drop Pod a Dreadnought to back it up...and he suggested "why not two dreadnoughts??" and with my recent comment on http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/223845.page thread I thought we had better make something to represent this;

and so it began...

as you can see, theres doors and detail and everything missing. But the fact that you can fit a dread, and its base, and theres still loadsa room above for a stormbolter is very exciting to me!!

So give me some advice on doors and details. Not criticism, this is fun for me.

Use it with no doors and your excuse can be that it bounced off various buildings when it landed.

Or...dreadnoughts don't need doors...dreadnoughts break down doors!!

Cant you imagine the dreadnought falling out, now that would be funny!

Just put that brick tiled plasticard to cover the open spaces.. Then the Dreads can bash through the bricks like the Kool Aid guy:

"OHHHH YEAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!"

Fluff wise all the doors on a Drop pod are blown open on impact by small explosive charges.
I always thought this meant clean off the hinges!

Also fluff wise SpaceWolfs Won't teleport... they don't trust the tech...

OP, I'm in the process of making some drop pods from scratch as seen here and I'm wondering what you used for materials, how long it took you, and if you're planning on painting them or not.

Hey I am working on this as well, although I am not going to completely scratchbuild. I have rebuilt the base and right now I am waiting for a droppod kit so that I can use the vertical spars and the doors. I am going to extend the normal doors to fit the increased opening size. * MrTrain I used 5mm foam board cut up into shapes, all the stuff you see there is just three shapes.

I've added boosters and stuff since, but you'll all have to wait for pics.

I'm working on cool 5 part blow away doors...much simpler than hinges!! the only difficulty is how to attach them to the droppod!

It'll be great to drop them on unsuspecting armies this weekend!!
