Hey all - Yet another Titan project. I've got a 1K son tzneetch army (haven't played them since the new codex), and I've always liked the Egyptian theme. So I've been thinking about doing an "Anubis" jackal style titan. The project finally came together when my lovely wife scored a bag of "bionical" robot toys for $5. I've also been saving little bitz and found objects that I thought would be good on a titan for years (focused pack ratism is the way to go). While it isn't the equal of some of the awe inspiring titans I've seen (not yet anyway), its dirt cheap and has gone together fast so far. The bionical parts provided a skeleton on which I put armor. I wanted a lean, fast, predatory look, so it is based on the epic warhounds, not the forgeworld ones. It also has a bit of a "t-rex" thing going on, which I'm fine with. The legs are filled with sand, which gives it a great deal of stability. The carapace design features the winged scarab of tzneetch grasping the pearl of chaos undivided.

An earlier version had small scorp claws which may make a return, or be replaced with some sort of defensive weapon. Paint scheme will be blue, black, yellow and gold - classic 1 K sons. I'll be adding bitz soon - especially tomb kings shields and banner tops. My main question at the moment is how to decorate the large blank areas - the "greaves" and "tail". Three main options:

Green stuff murals - challenging for my limited skills.
Custom waterslides - never used this before, but it would be easiest.
Free hand painting - another big challenge.

In any case I plan to include chaos versions of egyptian gods, past battles, hieroglyphs, etc. I actually like the FW warhound's chaos arrows on the legs look, so i may go that way for one leg.

Big banners eventually of course.

I like it. It's more organic looking than most of the blocky Warhound titans. Can't wait to see some paint on it

Coming together nicely.

I could just be brain washed by all the other titans but yours looks like it could use a little more torso mass.
Other than that all hail the changer of ways.

Thanks all! With the almost finished pics of the banelord that just went up, I feel the bar has been raised a great deal...

Progress, though slower.

No interior detail, though the rear deck will have some interesting stuff.
My greenstuff is kind of uneven - there are parts that I think are pretty good, but other parts that are lousy. The key is making sure you have plenty of time I think - when I try to do a "quick bit while I have some time" it never works.

One quandry I have now is spikes - not always a huge fan, but I'm not sure how many to use, or if I want any at all...

I've added a fair amount of detail.
I seem to have stopped sand from leaking out of the legs.
I added shoulders. I have somewhat mixed feelings on these.
I found alot of great bitz, including the alter and candles I'll be using for the back of the titan. No where safer to do your chaos rituals than on the back of a titan!
I purchased the printable water slides, so I'll be looking at working with those, though a fair amount of greenstuff still seems likely.
Also got some guitar string for the first time. Good stuff!

I've also embraced the use of hot glue again. Now, it is sad but true that there was a day when I assembled miniatures with hot glue. Horrifying, I know. I also sculpted my chaos spawn out of it. For the titan, I've used hot glue to tack things in place, followed by greenstuff on the seems to do the actual holding. It seems to be pretty rugged... It tipped over during this photoshoot without suffering any harm. I tried various forms of cement, but the different types of plastic in the found objects has been problematic.

I've also ordered a great many bitz, including a ton of tomb king banner tops.

If it was mine I wouldnt put any spikes on it. T-sons arnt really "Spiky" kind of army. If it was a Bezerker, I would cover it in them. The knee pad/joint looks like it need bulking up. Other than that I say Great Job!

The weapons are almost as big as vehicles themselves, but they do look a bit small relative to the body from some angles. Perhaps banners on them will help. The back is a sort of observation deck which will get an alter and some ritual stuff. I agree the joints need to be bulked up a bit. Some combination of armor and pistons perhaps.

Avoid the spikies, unecessary.

Consider a 1ksons 'headpiece' - everyone will know your aligned with Tzeentch then!

wow, nice idea. It's gonna look striking when painted. What'd you use for the big plasma-cannon-thing?

not quite as scary as some of the other titans, but definitely fits with the whole Tzeentch thing.

The main issue with the guns is how stubby they are. I am thinking some sort of alien chicken with guns that look like small lances for arms; not an insult BTW, but still a pretty funny thought. I believe that in a nutshell, the same is said of the standard Warhound. Just a conceptual thing, I seriously mean no offense. That thing looks really cool, and I think the paint will make it look amazing; especially the Anubis head.

It does have a bit of an alien chicken look - but then you have to not think too hard about most 40K things anyway... : )
It does have a headress - its the grey part on the head. Bit of a quandry though - I was thinking blue and yellow stripes on the carapace also, but if I do it on both it may look odd.
Got my tomb king bitz in the mail (banners and shields), so my skull count should be going way up soon.

I've been working on some armor plates for the leg that will help make the lower joint look more solid.

The plasma gun is two glue bottles - actually the thing that got me started thinking I could do a titan.
Even though it started out as a warhound, I think I might add a back weapon and up it to a reaver. Its big for a a warhound as far as I can tell. Although, it won't fit in my figures cabinet if if add a back weapon. Hmmmm - it was removable, I could use it both ways - reaver or warhound.

I do want to get it primed - and also take pictures with a camera rather than my computer, as I think its doing funny things to the perspective. Anyway, here it is with more leg armor and tomb king bits. I'm also filling some of the nooks and crannies on the underbody with ground up skeletons, which I'm quite pleased with. And a little red scorpian for the back. The weapons are fully modular, so I think I will do a huge turbo laser that scales more like the orginal epic warhound weapons and see what it looks like then.

Well, I have put enough paint to the titan to put it on the table. There is still a great deal more to do on it, but I don't think I'll do more until I've had a chance to play with him. I've run out of energy for titans - want to work on some guard. Most of the fine detail isn't painted and its not highlighted or shaded in any way. The banners are also temporary, just trying out some concepts. There are also more details to add, like hatches and murals on the greaves. I'm planning to eventually grind up skeletons to cover the underbelly. It also needs larger weapons options and I might add a third weapon mount on the back - it really seems to big for just the two little guns. Might kick it up to Reaver. Chains are a must, and limited spikes a possibility. I keep saying "T-Rex, T-Rex" every time "Alien Chicken" pops into my mind.

Interesting, I know what you're talking about. It makes me wonder who the majority audience on the boards is. I'm not a fan of the head you've chosen, but I really like how all the different parts came together so well. Good eye for using different materials!
