I had a drop pod battle wagon before to my ork army but i didnt really like it and when i got my hands on a landraider i thought of it as a golden opportunity to make it more badass.
So i took some time and cut off the roof and front and engine of the raider, and then halved the pod and postitioned the pod as i liked it.
took one of the drop doors and put it on the back making another hatch and more importantly a back exit.
Will make a deffrolla out of a spare trukk wheel and some plasticard that i finaly got money to buy.
heres some pics of the result so far, ment to be me warboss seat of power when he rides into battle with his nobz, think i will make a ramshackle throne on the top story

Wow.... Can you magnetize the DP doors and make it 'open topped' as needed?

I've now cut out both front doors and need soem help with what i should put in the front, should it be plated with a ork lookin out with a big gun or should i make a platform that orks can stand on and fire?

Also the top pod door is removable to make it easier to paint it or make it opentopped

Defffo the first weapons platform, much more orky having a rabble of orks on the side.

Agree with the above two, the first option is better. But instead of disgarding the second one completely, how about having it on the side door of the drop pod part of the wagon? As always, the more dakka the better.

heres another uppdate, maybe the last for today but hopefully not.
So i'm partialy finished with the sides, the thing missing is some fence and gunz also made a floor to the pod and will decorate it soon, is a rug orky? yes?
no? and anyways the things left is;
1 a deffrolla
2 a cannon
3 a kannon
4 landraider inside decoration
5 thing mentioned in early text

so i started to work on the deffrolla and it turned out..... ok
but im not fully satisfied as you may understand and want to give it another go, i saw this buzzsaw version at gitsmacks blog and thought them cool, so do you think they will fit well OR should i take the big front thingie of the vindicator and put it there?

I'd go for the rolla rather than the sheild 'cos the sheild isn't orky enough.

Lookin good! I like the idea of a rug. But do you go for gore (a bloody fur rug or some other kind of hide) or the cassy rug (a nice Persian rug with a Big Mek fixing the cappuccino machine).

The side porches look great and that deffrolla is awesome, go with that one!

I updated the tank a bit and heres some more pics of it, nothing much left except armour plates and engines, and the boss needs a rug, cushions, and trophies on the doors.

and i think some people missread my last post, that deffrolla you saw earlier isnt mine, its gitsmacks that i used as an example, check out his blog though, really amazing;P now heres my pics

Great stuff! The way that you've incorporated the deffrolla into the space between the tracks of the wagon/looted landraider and the structure of the gun platforms are both excellent and very, very orky.

I think you can go either way with the rugs for the boss's throne. He could enjoy some comfort or it could be rusted, riveted, pointy, raw steel that would be terrible to sit on... for anyone but an ork.

Is the drop pod throne-room/killkannon going to be kept separate so you can use it as a turret for the kannon? Just curious...

Yeah I agree with GitSmack, a nice cushioned throne for the boss would look awesome. Is the throne going on top of the drop pod? Nice work on the roller, too. It looks much more natural (and sturdy) integrated into the hull rather than out on booms in front.

I think the gun next to the driver's hatch should be pointed more forwards than up: at that trajectory it looks like it would be a muzzle-loader as there would be no room to breach-load it under the angle of the front armour, but then there is no way to load it from outside as the front is totally enclosed. Also it's a weird place for a howitzer or mortar anyway, so IMHO it looks a tad pointless there. Angle it forward, though, and you have a nice hull-mounted kannon. Digging the big shootas over the tracks though.

What have you got planned for a power plant?

so i had an idea for the engine, it will be put inside the landrainder and will look like a plasma genarator and stuff, and huge chimneys on the sides for all the smoke comming out. and i will make the droppod detachable and make an xtra roof for when not using the kill kannon upgrade and make that detachable to.

Looks pretty cool.

As long as you think that that part of the tank will be visible enough for the power plant, go for it. I would suggest, though, that you put in some long exhaust pipes running the length of the chassis and coming out the back, to make the power plant more visible (and thus, to the onlooker, presumably more powerful). Plasma generator sounds like a plan though.

ooo, I like the exhaust pipes running along the inside and sticking out. That'd look great, and very hot to walk past!

I started on the engine and a platform/roof for the raider when not used with the killkannon upgrade (sadly no pics)
And will post more as the week starts to end as i'm redecorating my room and that could take a bit of time from my conversion schedule :(
But time will flow by as there's many other blogs to, will try to fix new batteries to my camera tomorrow and post the engine and other stuff
