Hi folks,

I have recently discussed and decided with your help to go for a 1000pts close-call dread swarm army.
http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/284076.page#1408360
Headed by a master of the forge with nothing on him, 4 CC dreads and two riflemen will join the fray while 3 mini suqads of scouts will try to hold objectives. Until now, there is little fluff but I think over several very interesting possibilities and will post them for discussion later.

This is my blog about this project. I am quite a beginner in modeling and painting but I am trying ...
Although this is not the right place to discuss tactics and general expected performance of this little army, I will be glad to read your opinions.

To the pics:
I am busy trying to think of a basing scheme, which is a type of wall tile coating, mixed with dirt and the odd rock. The dreads are going to be a little damaged and rusty, the infantry largely white with brown washes. There are great plans about modding the master himself from a Necromunda Pit Slave Mech. This interesting piece will possibly come after Easter holidays

Cheers,
Martin

Dude, I love it! Nice conversions, and love the unified basing... That stuff really brings the mini to the next level. I noticed your list, have you looked into the Iron Hands fluff? They are typically black and silver, and use a ton of robotics in the fluff (although the new vampire angels are making a good case for themselves, ruleswise). Keep posting!

Ah, that is a good idea! Will read into that then. I had originally thought about a "mad = computer/machineobsessed" maniac who split away from a "regular " SM order to form his own mechanic army. But I realise now, that I lack the skills to make proper Skitarii and the like, so the army will most probably look like a normal SM army, only with more rust

Thanks for the nice comments,
Will post more pictures tonight!

For some reason, that paint scheme reminds me of my friends DIY chapter, "The Silver Hands" his dreads look almost exactly the same.. meh, could be a freak of coincidence..

I like the lascannon damage at least across the shoulder. I like the barbed wire on the base and the pseudo-tiling. I'm impressed so far.

I changed my plans for the MoTF: he will live with Mechanicum insignia within a Dread Powerfist spidertype walker

:-)

This is a very rough sketch

Below how it could look like, only here with a scout torso instead of the two-part SM one.

So a walking spider motf? It's looking good. So, will the walker thing count as any sort of wargear?

Not really, it would not be convincing as a bike, I suppose.

6 dreds in 1000 pts, that's just mean. I think you pull off the scheme well and you base beautifully. I really cant wait to see this army completed.
