I am starting to, with a "current Codex" sort of direction to it. One of the Grots from my unfinished horde just became the Outrigger for a WIPLooted Wagon I've got going in another thread. Yes I am shamelessly cross-referencing my own threads.

Damn. You've got a couple of hundred bucks worth of raw materials there - You could carry out a sequenced and scheduled restoration on these and it would still take ages to complete. Hang on to these.
Man that's a lot of minis.
The up side is that I have been painting Orks all day. Hopefully others will draw inspiration from this thread and find their way back to old projects.

Roll-up, roll-up! Do not be a-feared, proclaim your failures to the world, rejoice in your lack of dedication
No?
Oh well, I can probably keep us going for a bit longer if I have a dig around the work-room, can think of at least 2 more armies that aren't going anywhere
I don`t have failed project because i am poor, you try funding 3 armies on £5, it dosn`t work (also i recenctly bought Halo:Reach, COD7 and fable III) I have no cash. :(

You could easily buy a complete 1500 point list with all that money
The idea of this is not so much to display an entire obsolete army or confess a general case of laziness, but to pull out those weird and bizarre projects that started out as such good ideas and then just went... huh??? Like this:
All I can remember about this is that I made it back in 1997 or 1998 when we were playing Necromunda a LOT, like "take 2 days off from work so we can finish this campaign scenario" sort of thing. It was supposed to be a campaign "special character" and had a ridiculous stat line, I can't remember exactly how the conversation went but ultimately I decided it was a bad idea, but not before putting together this abomination. Old Chaos Centaur body, plastic Necromunda Orlock torso, Genestealer Hybrid right arm holding a Chaos Space Marine Bolt Gun, and a right arm that "mutates" into a plastic Mk VI Imperial Space Marine Flamer. The head is from the Skeleton set. And yes, it used to have horns.
That is a failed project. Nothing big or expensive... just utterly, horribly, and completely failed.

My entire Ork army - mostly primed or unpainted. Only used it a couple of times and really didn't like it. Currently for trade in the swap shop if anyone is interested (thinly cloaked advert ).
Also got a few projects that have been dragging on for ages without sign of continuing at the moment (may well be brought back to life at some point in the future).
1) My Necromunda gang
2) Scratch built Eldar titan - will get round to doing this one as it is actually quite cool
3) Scratch built plague tower - will do this once I've done my Eldar army (they are easy to paint so hopefully should not take too long ), along with painting up the rest of my CSM army
4) My Imperial Guard Army - currently going to be done after my CSM are done 5) Various bits for my IG army - custom heads, gun platforms etc.
6) Gaming table - currently sitting in the airing cupboard. Probably going to chuck it and just get a RoB board at some point, but you never know.
well I did once make a ork dred out of a match box, the front of a rhino, some sprue and lego. It was better than just pretending to have a dred but only just
I´m playing for over 15 years now, ok, in the last 2 Years I only glued bits together and stated an army after the other.
In my gaming career I managed to paint up some squads and units but never a complete army.
It was a running gag in my club when I announced that THIS will be my new finished army everytime I started something new.
In dozens of boxes there are still waiting: 3 scratchbuild Stompas and one Gargant, 2 Squiggoths several tanks, a huge fightabomba + dozens of Orks, my Waaghboss on Bike, thats just a small part of them.
3 almost finished Knight titans for my mechanicus army, a reaver titan, a dozen tanks
a Trollking Monsterarmy which got an asskick with the new fantasy edition and around 10 another armies.
But I really hope that oneday I will get something finished.
And then I will drop dead or something.

I'd have to say the same about your DE. The raiders arent that bad (though the new ones are way better). Totally salvageable.
Well the raiders may well get looted, although there are at least a couple unbuilt in that box which will probably be better candidates. The models are OK, but there was some classic figs in those orks, can't really say the same about any of the DE off the top of my head
And something I saw in a thread the other day reminded me of a diorama I started way back when the first 'screamer-killer' (carnifex) was released. A marine impaled on two of the claws firing his bolt pistol into the SK's mouth, possibly with the back of the head exploding out. Chopped and posed the marine, re-posed the claws, got maybe some red and yellow onto the SK...and then nothing... I think I may have pinched a couple of bits off the marine in the last few years.

Ah, that I understand completely. Next time you think about the next best thing...Remember..It could be a tank instead Unless you play tyranids. In which case, a trygon
I have what was meant to be some sort of nightmare steed made from wood elf horse bits, skeleton horse bits, and some chaos hounds bits. It turned into an exercise of 'why you should plan these things out properly first'.
My hydra-talos has been a WIP for the last two years. But it is still sort of in progress, I'm very slowly sculpting the armour still, a little bit at a time. Totally stumped on how to do the guns. The rest of my DE army is either table quality or in the middle of converting, I think I've only got 3 wyches and half a raider that are primed or partially painted. All old models, none of the new. It actually leaves me wondering how I'm going to convert stuff to fit the new things, the raiders in particular. For the moment they can stay raiders; when I get some new raiders they can placeholder for ravangers or venoms. And probably get ripped apart for buildings/bits of other conversions after that.
Currently nothing really a failed project.
I have a squad of five CSM raptors that never see the light of day.
I painted one up to what I want them alll to look like, basecoated one other and left them alone after that, but that was a month ago.
Maybe my plague marines could be considered another squad that never sees the light of day, mostly due to wanting a unique paint scheme for them and haven't figured out what to use/keep it consistent with my army colors.
Ok, time to bump this thread back to life for the holiday.
Here's another complete and utter failure. I am the kind of person that will focus on a project so long as I have a clear and present reason to do so (such as my Death Guard Plague Marines) but when I become very excited about something and then have no outlet for it, this happens:
I have played Epic a few times and I really liked it but over the years I have never been able to find ANYONE in real life (a.k.a. not the Internet) that has any interest in the game, not even in my current game group that apparently will play anything else but. The picture above is a mere fraction of what I have, I didn't bother to pull out the Titans and Gargants or the buildings of the terrain... you get the idea.
I'll be holding on to this stuff in some desperate hope that (1) I'll find someone that wants to play Epic, and (2) I'll actually paint them if I do. Until then, I suppose you could call this... an "epic" fail.

I played epic with myself once - thought it was quite good fun - but noone else I ever met played it either - not one (I think its an eyesight issue, noone can see what they are fielding)
