I know - I have lots of painting in front of me. Modeling Orks is a lot of fun! I saved a bit of money by using AoBR models.

Some great ideas and implementation here. The cut down Trukk buggy is especially the way I want to go with mine eventually (though, admittantly not the cheapest option I wager!)

Agreed - not the cheapest - but... by cutting down the trucks, I had extra tires... perfect for converting cheap copters into buggies. I used an engine on one of the copters to make them unique but now its forcing me to cover up the engine compartment on one of the cut down trucks.

Are those the Forgeworld Grot Tanks?

I always liked those little buggers, just some of the very few models in the Ork range i actually like.

Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds.

Yeah theyre the forgeworld tanks - in IA8, its says that a Codex Ork Army can field the Grot Tanks as an Elites choice. Unit consist of 3-6 tanks.

Awesome. My preference is for third (right) then second (middle) - but they are all great. I do prefer them over the Deffkopta conversions (suspicion confirmed!)

yeah I have to admit I like these beeter than the converted deff copters. I liked the copters at first until I decided to bite the bullet and convert up the trucks.

Nothing wrong with the kopta buggies, I really like the one with the valk rocket-pods and may well use that, but these look a little more rugged, which is why I like that first one as it just looks like an ork land-rover

Ive spent some time Grey scaling my orks. First time out using white as a primer base. I always use black. I primed them white and then washed them with different colored inks after painting the metal parts.

They paint up quick this way. Ill post pics tonight when I get home.

Those are some sweet as buggies!

Also littlenibbler Orks aren't about armour saves.
Orks are about having too many models on the table, and wasting the other guy's time with your movement phase.
Orks are about having the toughest units on the table.
Orks are about not caring about how many bodies are left in a long winding trail until the squad is down to less than a third its starting strength.
Orks are about rolling more dice then you can count without the aid of a calculator or a pen and paper.
Orks are about having totally fething insane characters tearing gak down like Doc Grotsnik, Ghazghkull or Snikrot.
Orks are about being too fething awesome to die...

Tutorial or reciepe on those trukk/buggie conversions? They look amazing and exactly what I have wanted to do since I have started orks!

For all 6 Buggies - I used 3 trucks and 3 Koptas - in the end it still nets you 6 vehicles. I dont recommend doing it unless youve decided NOT to run with trucks. Its expensive otherwise. Originally I wanted to run 2 Battlewagons and 4 trucks. I changed my mind and want to do a Kan Wall/Greentide list. Im still using the wagons though. Im using the 4th Truck as a Mek Boyz Junka

To do this - yyou may need to order extra wheels - 3 trucks nets you 6 loose axils and 9 sets of wheels. You need 12 sets of wheels. The axils can be manufactured from sprue bits or just cut down the chasis from the truck - thats what I did. I used the wheels from the 4th truck - and got more from ebay to complete the Junka - waiting on them to show up. The Junka will have a KFF.

For the Kopta conversions - I used the axles from the trucks - and then trimmed pieces off the Kopta to make them fit. I then cut the support arm for the Kopta blades - spun it 180 degrees and glued it. Using the small set of tires in the front gave it a nose dive stance so I had to build it up underneath with some flat scrap. I used the big wheels up fron on one of them. Then I went to the bits bin looking for anything that could pass for rokkits. You can see I left no stone unturned I wanted to give them the look of a race buggie - so I gave them racing fins on the back using rams from the truck sprue. They dont need the trukk engone but I put one on one of them anyways - each Racer builds his own ride so they need to be unique.

For the 4 wheelin buggies - I used the chasis from the trukk frame. For two of them I cut the rear axil off - the last axil from the front. On another I cut the front axil off. I needed to do this as I only had 3 sets of the small front wheels. Cutting the front axil off "leveled" the frame so I could use 2 of the same sized tires without tilting the silhouette. After I solved the chasis problem - it was really up to my own imagination - trying to figure out ways to make them look unique but still plausible. The roll bars on the trukk frame are a sweeeeet bit. I had to cut down the bed of the truck with a saw to make it fit onto a smaller chasis. Both on the buggies and 4 wheelers - any holes or misalignments got covered up with gliphs and whatnot.

The fiddly bit was getting the exhaust system to look right - clippers and glue did the trick there and good ole orkie technology - they look right from the side, underneath - not so much.

Have fun with it - they're orks - you cant go wrong.

I still have other buggies I want to make - maybe make a Fred Flintstones rolla using 2 Deffrollas and a truckk chassis, but really my fast attack slots are full and cant justify it. I could throw it together and not glue the deff rollas - I have 2 on my Wagons.

Another option for more wheels is the FW Half Trakk - it comes with it's own wheels as well as a full Trukk kit. It and the Enclosed Cab Trukk also net you extra engines as they both come with their own - not that they were needed here

UGH - great - its not like I need to be tempted to buy MORE Forgeworld stuff.

Yeah I REALLY like that half track model.

Thats a good idea!

THe best advice I can give is just have it - its just a model - big deal if you dont get it right the first go around. You can always break it back down and start something new.

Not to mention - in Imperial Armor 8, there are some job dropping pics of some FW Ork Buggies. They are produced yet but I will bet they will be. Ill be buying those when they come out.

I do have a request. Anyway you could take a few pics of those warbuggies you made from the trukks next to something so I can get an idea of the size? Like sitting next to a battlewagon or kan would work great.

Sure When I get the last 8 boys done (later today). The buggies are big IMO. I didnt model them to be big but the new truck model is huge.
