Game 2: 2000 Points Vs Eldar Aspect Warrior Fanboi

This game was played 2 weeks after the first at the same place. It’s another pick up game vs. a player getting his Eldar Started.

I had this list, it’s my 1500 expanded out to 2000.

Captain, bike, relic, Shield.
Libby, bike, avenger, null.
9 Assault Termies (7 hammers/2 Claws)
8 Bikers, 2 Meltas, Fist, Hvy Bolter Attack Bike.
8 Bikers, 2 Meltas, Fist, Hvy Bolter Attack Bike.
8 Bikers, 2 Flamers, Fist, Hvy Bolter Attack Bike.
3Multi-Melta Attack Bikes.
3Multi-Melta Attack Bikes.
3Hvy Bolter Attack Bikes.

Some may notice I have done some progress converting wise, but nothing worth putting up on my bloggy to show them off yet; maybe after some greenstuffing.

His list was…a rainbow of choices:

Farseer: Fortune, Doom, Stones, Warding, Witnessing, Spear.
6 Scorpions, Exarch, Biting Claw, Infiltrate.
6 Howling Banshees, Exarch, Executioner, Acrobatics, WarShout.
6 Fire Dragons, Exarch, Fire Pike, Crack Shot.

10? Guardians w/ Bright Lance
6 Dire Avengers, Exarch, Double Catapults, Bladestorm, Defend.
WaveSerpent, Chin Cannon, TL-EML, Stones.

6 Swooping Hawks, Exarch, Skyleap, Hawk Talon, Intercept.
3 Shining Spears, Exarch, Star Lance, Skilled Rider.

6 Dark Reapers, Exarch, EML, Fast/Crack Shot.
Falcon, EML, Stones, Holofields.
Fire Prism, Stones, Holofields.

Seriously, everything under the sun…which was pretty cool if you ask me. It’s quite refreshing to see it all on the table…esp. all in squad sizes Slaanesh would be proud of .

So, we rolled Kill Points and got Spearhead deployment.
We roll off, I forget who wins, maybe me.
I choose second or my opponent chooses first.

Eldar Deployment

Vehicles are pretty far away.
Dark Reapers get a really nice vantage point on the ruined building on the far right.
Guardians hunker down In a piece of terrain near his board edge and the middle of the board.
Banshees and Shining Spears hide behind the forest in the middle of the board.
He did it after, but I’m gonna roll it into here, infiltrate.
He puts the scorps in the building on my right flank.
Pathfinders infiltrate on top of the tower in the middle of the board, untouchable via combat by the bikers.

Biker Deployment

So…. I was thinking if I wanted to go into reserves…but that would be boring by now .
If you look at the deployment my army looks monstrous in terms of foot print. It’s funny to note, I have no infantry based models, everything is on a termy base or cav base.
So in the mess of bodies…I have the Assault Terminators not in terrain doing their operation: Cover save for the rest of the bikers.
I had 2-3 conga lines going for over lapping cover saves with fist/melta elements on their preferred side when they all move out.
MMAB’s on the right flank while the Hvy Bolter Abs are on the left flank.

I fail to seize the initiative on a (3).

Eldar Turn 1

Some light shifting around.
Everything shoots does. Some 2 joes go down after cover saves and 2 multi-melta Attack bikes get instant gibbed from the Focused Prism by 2 failed cover saves.
They even had the gall to run away 9”. Luckly I had a conga line to herd the to go essentially horizontally to get to the board edge…saving that squad from embarrassment.
The other MMAB’s got shot at and one dies but pass morale to an EML from the Dark Reapers.

Biker Turn 1

ACTIVATE TURBooo not really.
The sinlge MMAB rallies and follows a biker squad hoping to be unnoticed as a kill point.
I didn’t do the dumb rush as I didn’t really feel like taking the Spears and Banshees to the face with doom around.
The right flank bikers with captain advance cautiously and mow down 4/6 scorpions in the building (they make their morale later on).
The termies moved and ran a bit.
Libby and the rest of the bikers move slow and sort of blob up behind the termies and while the hvy bolter attack bikes moved to the far left flank. The whole left side took pot shots at the Guardians and the Shining Spears downing a few Guardian (4-5) and scratching the SS (0) IIRC.
The 2 man MMAB shoot at the prism and fail.

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

Eldar Turn 2

Hawks come in drop an ineffective nade and jet out.
Scaredy Vehicles move away, but kill quite a few joes I the right Bikers that shot the scorps (scorps sat tight) cause they were not in cover due to the LoS the vehicles get when they move DUR! They barely pass on a 10 their morale later on. Scary considering they are like 5” from the board edge .
A smattering of other shooting wounds some Attack bikes and kills 1-2 joes ‘cause being cautious and getting cover saves is a good thing. I was actually surprised at this point how much high powered/lower than 3 ap weapons were in his list. Granted the had trouble hitting, but it’s not what I’m expecting from an aspect heavy list like his.
2 MMAB’s that failed to kill the prism are killed by the prism.
The Dark Reapers maul the flamer squad on the far left pretty bad…bad enough so that they fellback a whopping 15”.

Kill Point One to my opponent.

Biker Turn 2

Bikers regroup and press forward again, shooting Guardians that now know how to use cover.
Captain goes solo, shoot ineffectively, and charges in to the scorps (as IIRC you can still engage head to head). He takes a wound from Scorps waving chainswords at the top of the stairs…but the Captain would have none of it and threw his shield Captain America style and lopped off their heads. He consolidates alone and closer to the Eldar Vehicles.
The melta bikers on the left flank that witnessed the Captains’ badassery had to do equally well, they drive up and proceed to pen the Prism on the shot that hit, then double 4’s…which is double 5’s with AP1.

The mess in the middle, the termies move/run and press forward.
The squad there shoot the spears dead and the libby chances an avenger and manages to roll 10 on 3D6 and roasts most of the Banshees. His squad charges in, only the libby makes it to the Exarch and friend, while a biker killed himself on the difficult terrain to keep coherency…the Banshees fail to wound and the Libby flexes his muscles and skewers both of them, consolidating out of terrain.

4 Kill Points to me

Eldar Turn 3

Hood is finally in range but blocks nothing.
Hawks come back, the pack does nothing and they stick around, they open fire on the melta squad on the left flank and kill one.
The Falcon moves to sit on top of the stone tower and immobilize itself.
Oh yea, the Pathfinders don’t do much all game…weird as there were several other games that week that involved pathfinders doing equally poorly.
The Serpent moves to be on top of the tower (just not placed there).
The Reapers focus on the Captain, who makes his Inv Save against the Krak missiles, but takes a wound from one failed StormShield save.

Biker Turn 3

Captain charges into the hawks, killing 2, but is killed in return!
2 Kill Points to the opponent!
The flamer bikers move up and roast some Guardians wiping them out.
Everything else approaches the tower and takes random shots.
The meltas miss, the Libby tried to cast avenger targeting the Serpent but getting the Pathfinders under the template, but takes a perils wound.

Eldar Turn 4

Hood is in range but blocks nothing.
The serpent drops off dudes in the tower and flies down.
Termies are pounding on randomly by almost everything, but by now, only 3 remain….and they run away 6-7”…jeez.

Biker Turn 4

The termies regroup and move run into the tower.
Mass fire kills the Dark Reapers and hurts the farseer and Avengers bad.
I charge the hawks but fail lots in combat and they are stuck.

Eldar Turn 5

Hood is in range and is able to block both powers.
Hawks skyleap out of combat.
The pathfinders, avengers and seer shoot and charge the termies…the termies do their matrix moves and hit back a -1 attack due to defender, the pathfinders are laid low and several avengers are killed leaving the seer and one Avenger…they run….surrounded by my whole army and at underhalf.
The termies happily consolidate to being the kings of the tower.
Left most bikers charged and wrecked the serpent.

Biker Turn 5

And then it was just the falcon sitting on the tower immobilized with dragons inside.
The game is called.

A pretty one sided game. And it’s just hilarious how consistent I am at getting my people to run away. I’m not gonna do a run down for this as well. Things just worked. I played conservatively to start until I was close enough to commit. The termies got to do more than normal.

As for suggestions to my opponent. I would suggest focus firing. He got my Captain and a MMAB squad. There was one who was just a lone biker hiding in the back of my army. Then the termies got whittled down as well, that’s 2 more KP there. Maybe try using skimmers more offensively and in my face so that stuff keeps running and maybe off the board. Also, he himself alluded to the whole “boyz before toyz.” There was much gear purchased on the Exarchs and they are not as ‘hidden’ as they’d like to because I think I sniped 2-3 Exarches due to just mass bolter rounds.

I dare say: is this what your local competition is like? Like clubbing baby seals... Ah well, you played the game just as you should have and won, he didn't and lost.

Fun you're using my tactics

" Because even with Combat Tactics I can funnel myself to fall back "sideways" as I can use my own models (Which is why I have a lite Mech portion in my list right now) to force my fleeing Bikes the way I want to Fall Back with clever movement. "

@DarkHound:
It's a different gaming group (easier to go to on Sundays) and I'd like to get some more brutal games. There be a campaign going on but we'll see if thems got the time for it.

My next game is likely vs. Death Guard...not a match I want to do. And, when I say Death Guard, it's the fluffy kind So we'll see, a bit tougher, but not as competitive as everybody would like, even after 7+ months of telling him to mech up .

After this, I'm hoping to get a game vs. the local Jacob Marine top dog, I think it's MSU Razorback/TWC spam.
:-/

@Smurfy:
It was entirely unintended. I set up the bikers first and had to spread out, the attack bikes set up last and really only had that corridor left as the bikers weren't in full 2" coherency.

/shrug, as gamey as the conga line is, I'll use it, but I'm not too happy with it, but a game's a game.

Bikers are awesome, there are many ways to play them. I won't deny that there have been alot of ideas bouncing around. And I thank you for the quote, it may have popped into my had subconsciously when I was deploying .
