Hi guys

Thought I'd share with you all a project I've been working on over the last few weeks. If you hadn't already guessed from the thread title, it's a Necromunda Bounty Hunter. The whole project was a green stuff/ebay fiesta and is easily my biggest undertaking to date.

The parts I used were:

Head - I really liked this Chaos Marauder head as it really fitted in with the grizzled old bounty hunter vibe. And I've always been a big fan of Captain Birdseye.

Body/Legs - In retrospect, I would have quite liked a more dynamically posed body than this IG Tank Commander. However, the stand-at-ease posture afforded so many options for sculpting and adding the numerous bits of kit carried by these nut-cases. I used green stuff to change the top half of the jumpsuit into a flared tunic with cut-off sleeves. This dirtied the fella up a bit and cunningly concealed the joins.

L "bionic" arm
- I used an unaltered Space Wolves arm with bolt pistol (IG heavy weapons sight for the red dot sight) for the bionic arm. Although Space Marine arms are uber obvious, I liked the pose so much that I left it mostly unaltered. I used yet more green stuff to sculpt the stretched skin of the shoulder to the arm.

R arm - Chaos Marauder + Space Marine Chainsword. Green stuff for the pommel. Nothing interesting.

Primary, slung weapon (Lasgun) - I threw the Hot-Shot Lasgun carbine together using an original Necromunda Goliath ganger Lasgun barrel, a new wave plasma pistol body, an IG heavy weapons grip and various slices of plastic from sprues to alter the weapon's detail enough that it doesn't look so much like the original pieces. I fashioned the stock from a Chaos Marauder's axe head! The weapon's sling was made from more slices of sprue and...green stuff, yes.

Back-mounted Shotgun - This is the part of the sculpt I'm most proud of. Lots of green stuff, a handle from something or other and space marine purity seals for guilder seals (or whatever)

That pretty much does it. I hope the pictures are ok (I know it's tricky to see the level of detail in places) and if anyone wants to ask any questions, throw me some criticisms/advice or just call me a fanny for still obsessing over a fifteen year old game, I'm always open to it.

P.S. I am looking for ideas for a paint scheme and would really appreciate any suggestions...except green. If I see anymore green on this guy I may go all "clock tower".

I like the choice of bitz, but the pose bothers me - what is he doing? It's very static, a classic gesture and shout pose which I'm not usually a fan of. Don't bounty hunters usually act alone and sneak up on their quarry? I'm not up on fluff so excuse me if this is incorrect

I agree about the pose. It wasn't ideal and admittedly very wooden but it just meant I had to model the rest of the conversion around it so his inaction seems more deliberate. Fluff-wise, Necro bounty hunters are more tanks than ninjas. Their standard kit is bolt pistol, shotty, chainsword, grenages and bolter or hot-shot lasgun. No subtlety whatsoever there.

Awesome dude. Pose might be a bit un-stealthy but who cares. Maybe he's dragging someone out of a bar brawl or something.

Hah! That's actually spot on man. He's not been undercoated yet so there's still room to strap a nice scrumpy bottle to his hip.

You've managed to strap a ridiculous amount of gear onto a necromunda character in a fairly non-ridiculous way! That takes some serious talent

I agree about the static pose, but ace modelling anyway. You can't recognise most of the original parts (especially not once you paint it, I'd imagine!), and the head looks dead on right for him. Nice job!

Thanks very much, mate. I am looking forward to painting him but I still have no idea what paint scheme to go for yet. So far all I have settled on is white-haired Caucasian with brown leaher pouches. Any ideas for the outfit? Anyone?

What does everyone think of olive drab for this guy's fatigues?

Well he's spent a long time on the painting table gathering dust but I finally got round to finishing him. Here are pics of the finished article.

Quite nice indeed. The conversion work, the choice of bits, and the paint job are all great. I like the holster on his back too.

(ps: I found this from the Skirmish Scale thread)

fantastic work, especially the way the space marine/bionic arm is painted. Hardly looks like a marine arm to me the way its been painted.
Do you have any other necromunda pieces in the works? I always enjoy seeing people come up with new takes on Necromunda stuff.

Cheers for the props lads. I have to admit I really enjoyed creating this guy (who I've affectionately named Cap'n Birdie)...even the painting which I usually find a bit of a grind until it's finished.

I do have a pit slave which has been on the shelf as long as this guy (http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/318407.page) who will be getting the paint treatment in the next couple of weeks. I have a bunch of LOTR gobbos to paint for a tourny on Tuesday so I'm pretty bogged down with that just now.

Lots of other projects and completed conversions which I'll post pics of in due course. My new Goliath leader is FIERCE!
