Here are the pictures from my previous post I promised would be up today. They are from the 3rd company and more will follow when possible.
We are building the entire Ultramarine chapter listed in Codex: Space Marine. We currently have all the models assembled for 3rd and 4th company, a few from 1st second and ninth. We are mixing in the different armor types from forgeworld to match fluff as shown in the picture of second company also in the codex.

And here is the 3rd company without vehicles and they are still issing one assualt squad. Both will be drop podding in so will not have assualt packs. They are not all painted but working on it.

Yes they are missing one assualt squad, I recently moved and my assualt marines took a beating I am working on reparing them today. My friend does have the entire 4th done also and hopefully can post his pictures today. If anyone has any suggestions or anything we are missing please let me know.

Hmmm whilst I like the endeavour your undertaking I'm not a fan of writing names onto base edges; especially if the writing isn't that neat, as it can spoil the model. If your dead set on writing names on, I'd paint the base first, and then use a pen or something as it'll look much, much neater.

Thanks for the reply- The bases are not finished all bases are random colors and some have names on them they will simply be black bases once finished as we do not like making special bases for our models.

Your painting really needs work. These minis look fairly slapdash as is. The paint looks really chunky on that sergeant's bolter, and there are tons of details being completely missed, like that wirey webbing between Marine armor joints. No work has been done on the eyes either really; a tiny dot of white in the far corners goes a long way towards making them look like real lenses. Finally, some sort of basing has gotta be done on these boys - plain black bases really detract from a mini. Just some basing sand, primed black and given a 2-3 stage drybrush will make any mini look 3x better.

I dont know if your painting for speed, looks, or just to finish the chapter... but I would recommend drybrushing the models blue. I think you would get a much better result, you could also manage the colors significantly better and add lighter colors to the blue for a quick drybrush highlight. It would take about 10-15 minutes a model. If you want to know what it would look like check out my Ultramarines in my image section.

This chapter is a multi year project so I am in no way rushing it. I have never been able to get drybrushing right and my hands shake to much to get finer details. Your marines are very nice looking I hope I can learn to paint like that one day.

hmm, well what is your problem when it comes to drybrushing? To much paint? Because if so that is fixable. Maybe I can help you if you tell me what types of problems you experience with it. Then again, maybe since you have already began your chapter it might be too late to change the paint style of the marines.

No new models to post yet, but I am needing the Ultimus to be painted by someone my painting skills are defently not able to give it justice- If anyone is willing to paint it I will gladly pay for the landraider and some for the paintjob PM me if interested. I need it to look as close as possible to what the codex shows.

I would also suggest to thin the colors with water (ap. 1:1 - 2:1 paint:water) and use more than 1 layer... this will look much better...
yeah, and try some ink (black+blue) for the models recesses...
good luck for your project, but this will be plenty of work!

With thunderhawks vehciles techmarines chaplaines calgars huge honor squads it was around 50000 point give or take 10000 do due to upgrades. I will try painting thinner thanks for that suggestion. As far as kraags input goes I do not need a force organization chart its a apoc army but if I needed once company 2 3 4 are all legal armies with the exeption 5th has one to many dreadnought.
50000 was our almost exact estimation if I recall the vehicles are a large portion of it. Also all of first company will be in termie armor 6th is all bike mounted and 7th is landspeeders as those companies use them extensivly according to fluff and we want a giant apoc fight our entire local store against our chapter when finished.

Haha, my friend is doing the scouts but has no plans to start them soon. I believe they are his last company and probably hardest to do as he has to have scout bikes, scout speeders and scouts. We have decided on roughly 200 scouts which seems a fair number to replace losses companies would see constantly.
